Forgive me if I'm posting on the wrong section.

People would know if they have played one before.
How long do you take to finish one whole entire Visual Novel?

Could take one week, or it could take one year. Depends how long it is, how much I like it, etc.

It always depends.
Either you're playing a complete waste of time like Kamidori Alchemy Meister, or reading through something quickly like Saya no Uta or Narcissu.

For the most part, I skip through (CTRL) a lot of the parts until I get to a point where the text is unfamiliar.
Those kinds of VNs usually end up taking less than 5 hours.

Completely depends on how long the VN is, but typically for me, whatever the assumed time it takes to finish one, it'll take me at least 3 times as long since I take a lot of breaks.

Takes me about 5 minutes to fast forward to the H-scenes.

It may take my whole life to ever start one.
I probably regret this post by now.

I struggle with VN's. If you're going by word count, Fate/Stay Night is longer than the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy. The majority of it is bloat. You could have built a story with the same emotional impact with half that word count.

Depends on my free time. Maybe around one until two weeks. The fastest is only 5 days playing in full day.

Visual novels are tedious as fuck. I've yet to finish one in the 6 or 7 ones I tried to finish. The farthest I went was 2 hours.

you can't generalize that, some are like 5 hours whereas other are almost 100

personally I tend to marathon them like no tomorrow when I read good ones and have the time to spare (like 16 hours per day or smth) in which case I can do it in a few days at most normally even for longer ones

I've tried one and got quite deep into it. Then I lost the saves, and never bothered to pick up it again.
Deconstruction ≠ Darker & Edgier
Trope ≠ Cliché (Face it, nothing is completely original. Can't make something from nothing so to say.).
Fanservice ≠ Ecchi (Though ecchi can please the fans!)
Popular ≠ Sucks... maybe
Seinen = K-ON! Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen and Josei are demographics.
Anime/Manga = Japanese Cartoons! Deal with it.

And how long does it take for you to finish one book? :P

It depends on the length of a VN obviously, one can take a couple of munutes, another - hundreds of hours.

It depends on the length and my level of interest. Fate/stay night took me over a year to finish all the routes, because I took several breaks while reading it, whereas I can finish something less verbose in about a week.

Depends.
There are ones like Grisaia no Kaijutsu and Muv Luv Alternative that takes a lot a lot of time to finish.

Grisaia I can understand but how the hell does MLA take a lot of time to finish lol? I mean that's one of the most addictive works you'll ever find :s

Took me a little less than 1 month to be Fate Stay Night (Late July - Late August 2014)

Took me around the same time to play all of the Muv-Luv games (June 2014)

Didn't take too long to get through Katawa Shoujo I think I went through Emi's route in 2 or max 3 days. (May 2014)

Keep in mind this was all during the summer when I had lots of free time. I typically played about 5hrs a day though (Not anywere near as hardcore as you Haxx) , but there was some variance. For example I pulled 1 all nighter with Muv Luv Alternative while playing all day before that all nighter. After I beat Unlimited Blade Works, I took a few days off from Fate Stay Night before I started Heaven's Feel. Partly because I wasn't sure I could get through it before school started, but I finished it the day before the first day of class lol

Yep visual novels in general just very widely vary in length. I think they're too addicting to just play for 1hr or so every day and chip away at them like that, so it might be better for you to play one during vacation when you have a lot of free time. Unless you are very good with time management and you are very patient/willing to spend months on end trying to finish one long visual novel by chipping away at it like that.

2-100 hours+, I usually finish VNs at around half sometimes 1/3 of the time listed on VNDB.

Depend on free time but then again it could take up to a month or even a year to complete one.

I develop computer games. A typical visual Novel takes around 4 - 14 months to complete. It of course depends on the quality, length and overall work needed. What takes that time is the financing. They lays the problem of any multimedia product.

For me it depends on the amout of heroines' routes and on the length of the common route, because I never ctrl through anything. If the common route is too long (I'm speaking to you Rewrite) I lose my interest quickly, and it can take me weeks to get past through it. When I'm finally reading heroine's path, and I'm interested in her story, it takes me about 1-4 days (depends on how long it is). Well, completing a translated vn takes much less time of course.

Muvluvs took me like 7 months to finish and that's the longest barring some perpetually on hold porn with one or two routes left. I think Katahane took me a month and AA games can take a couple of weeks. Planetarian and the Narcissus took me a day each. There are variables: you might want to take breaks in between routes, episodes (Ace Attorney) or if the ero serves its purpose.

Thats impossible to say, some take days others only have like 3 routes so you can finish in a few hours. School Days is the longest I've played and the most.

In general, I can end up playing the first run through almost biblically, but it still takes a few days. Usually months and years pass before I take on further routes, if ever. I basically don't really stick around for the true ends unless it's really renowned or I don't really have to go out of my way to finish it fully, eg. g-senjou, sharin no kuni.
