Now I'm a bit wary. Loved Psycho-Pass, Hated Hamatora, didn't even bother with the sequel (Which says alot for me who likes to complete everything). Still really hoping for this to be good/great.

You guys know there are lots of writers who have written both good shows, and terrible shows?

Not every single script written by an author is going to be great.

This Urobuchi worship is ridiculous. Urobuchi has written shitty scripts too. You just ignore them and pretend everything the guy writes is the next Madoka Magicka.

You have a point...

So far pretty lame, it looks like he just shuffle the roles of few of the characters and include a few ones to replace the ones that are dead, and is gonna follow the same plot as previous season.

Eh? I feel as if people want to simply make a big fuss over nothing. I found Hamatora to be more of a comedy show then something trying to be "hip" or "cool". It kept mixing comedy with seriousness because it was allowed to do such.

Seeing the first ep of Psycho-Pass has me not being worried at all, especially after seeing Hamatora. Ham' even had some nice moments so I don't really care.

If it sucks in the end then so be it, but I'm not worried while considering this all just people flailing about over nothing.

Hamatora was average but if the writing style will effect here then it'll just be a huge disappointment.

Oh well, I guess Psycho Pass won't do much without Kougami or Makishima anyway...

the first episode seemed fine script wise so far at least, not like the dialogue in this show was ever particularly stand out so its not that hard to imitate, its more so how the plot will play out

Urobuchi and his team is making PP movie instead, which happens after this season.

Of course Urobuchi will guide through, or it won't make sense in his movie lol.

I'm not a big fan of Urobuchi, but I'm a fan of Tow Ubukata, who's in charge of the Series Composition. I was expecting he will be the main writer of the script, as I was led by the preview infos. Didn't expect this Jun guy to be in charge of the script. I'm not sure about how good/awful he is. He, however, wrote one of my favorite arcs in Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita and the 7th episode of Zankyou no Terror—which was one of the most intense episodes. I think, this is one of the reasons why PP2 ep 1 has some similarities with Zankyou no Terror—he worked on it partially.

Anyway, Tow Ubukata may not be in charge of the very specifics in writing, but he is in charge of what should happen in each episode, the arrangement of scenes, the soundtrack (?), and whatever. He's good at that, just judging by his work on Mardock Scramble (the books and the movies' script). Is he very good at writing? I forgot what I read from Mardock Scramble novels, but he did win an SF award (equivalent to the Nebula award(?)) in Japan, the same kind of award the author of Shinsekai Yori won. That is to say, he knows his stuff. As to the movies, I thought he did well with the arrangement and all. Don't know if anyone else here has seen Mardock Scramble, but he can write pretty dark and gory stuff too.

On another note, Urobuchi is still there in PP2 as an overseer of sorts, and I think he's more like checking for consistency.

Somehow, I wonder if it were Urobuchi who's in charge of the script, people will badmouth it here...There were people who were thinking of criticizing PP2 when they thought he'd continue to do the script (which isn't happening after all their anticipation).

All this drama over yet another franchise Urobuchi has abandoned continues to be ridiculous. It's one of the most anticipated shows of the current season clearly, perhaps for no other reason than people are obsessed with the guy and because he wrote it at one point, but now people are worried and think it's going to suck, but it's still hugely anticipated. Like make up your minds people, do you like Psycho-Pass as a concept and want to see more or not or is it all just about making more drama over Urobuchi than there already is.

Sorry but I really just don't get it, why is this so heavily anticipated if people are so torn up over all the staff changes which by the way I think is fairly reasonably since it goes far beyond just the change in writer and into the realm of nobody who was previously involved having anything to do with it anymore aside from the director? Maybe he can be the one that keeps things consistent despite moving to an entirely new studio even on top of the staff changes. My only explanation is that people just by and large don't know he's not involved anymore and when they find out by the time the shows been airing for a while anything resembling hype about it is going to completely disappear and it'll be held up as one of the worst sequels ever. It's just so easy to predict.
Your hate for urobuchi makes your statement empty and laughable stop. Changing the script writer whatever the show (and going with a shitty script writer at that) isnt good news whatever the anime. I dont know why you keep popping up in every thread about urobuchi making tldr statements when all you could say is I HATE UROBUCHI

Didn't care much for the first season of Psycho-Pass nor the two seasons of Hamatora, even though I didn't miss even a single episode. I do enjoy detective stories when it goes to the level of Ghost in the Shell and SUCCEEDS ON THAT LEVEL. The first season gave me the same feeling as watching a boring live action TV detective series. I'm trying to keep my hopes up with the upcoming episodes.

If you look closely at the credits at the OP, here are the positions for each of the staff:
Urobuchi as Series Producer;
Ubukata as Series Composition;
Kumagai as Scripts.

Here's what's going on among the three people in the making of PP2. As Series Producer, Urobuchi will provide the concepts, themes and general direction that the show should be moving forward. Things like the new boss being someone who is not considered human by Sibyl will be Urobuchi's idea in the first place.

However, that's all Urobuchi is doing. He is not involved in the pacing, storyline and characters of the story. Those jobs go to Ubukata, who as Series Composition will determine the personalities and eventual development of each character; as well as writing down plot points that each episode should cover, taking into consideration the concepts and themes that Urobuchi had in mind for the series.

Kumagai, on the other hand, takes Ubukata's notes and convert into full-length screenplays. While Ubukata has the final say in the overall development of the plot and the characters throughout the series, it is up to Kumagai to determine the EXECUTION of the development. An anime series can have good plot development but the execution is terrible. In that case, the fault lies on the script writer rather than the series composition.

Lol clueless fools.

Ubukata is awesome. Just check out his Mardock Scramble movies.

This series just needs 22+ episodes to flesh things out.

It's a shame he'll be blame for rushing just because the series is on a 11 episode schedule.

I'm liking the story so far. It seems we have a different one compared to Makishima.

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking. This Kumagai person is really the one in charge of the specifics for each episode while Ubukata only does most/all (?) the general stuff. =.=

I knew right away almost every sequel is crap. Especially how the first season was so magnificent and ended the way it did, all the characters that made the show, gone. So I knew PP 2 wouldn't be as good. But discovering the new writer, I instantly lost hope. Now I'm expecting the worse. PP 2 is ok but 1 will always be the best. Soon it will be garbage...

Wanna see the movie though :P
