It was kinda sad to see Jackie Chun go, even if he was just a persona Roshi made up it did feel like we were saying goodbye to an awesome character. Interested to see the rest of this fight but as launch pointed out its pretty obvious whos gonna win =p.

Cool episode, Krillin is actually doing better than expected. Slowly but surely, Roshi turns Tien.

I actually found the stuff between Tien and Roshi more interesting than the fight. Kuririn is surprisingly holding his own though.

Muten roshi is an amazing character and one of the strongest human fighters on earth next to master shen currently. With out giving any spoilers in regards to that, what kind of happened here is Muten roshi Claimed his era is over, meaning he did not want to take home the gold and he didn't want to fight against his pupil again. He wanted his student Goku to ascend to the finale's and to experience the final with Master Shen's student of the crane school, Tienshinhan.

He also in a way was acting as an instructor for tien, telling him that he can become stronger if he keeps a level and cool head and does not follow the master of deception that shen taught him.

In a way he's kind of doing Tien a favor and also putting his faith in goku that he will reach that mile stone at the end and eventually change Tien's mind set at the finale's.

Master shen how ever manipulates his student into using deceiving tactics and deception in order to gain the upper hand, muten roshi is completely against that sort of teaching method. Their is more back story behind this, but it won't be explained until later.

Also i forget precisely which episode but its around here, two techniques are revealed form the Crane school of teaching, the ability to manipulate Ki to an extend of using as flight, or flying as you know is the norm for DBZ. Also the ability to "sence" things which later on all characters eventually learn, which i believe this is the first time they actually introduce that concept in dragon ball, when Master shen use telepathy to find out Jackie Chun's real identity. I am going by what i remember cause its been so long time, but i do remember this tournament being pretty awesome and pretty important.

That conversation between Tien and Roshi was really amazing. Tien's probably the most intellectually interesting character since the start of the show, considering his struggle.

It's funny how even while the fight between Goku and Krillin is going on, Tien already assumes he'll be fighting Goku in the finale. xD It's obvious, yeah, but come on -- at least entertain the chance.

Wouldn't say this was drawn out. A few of the stares especially at the start of the montage maybe, but this was one of my favorite episodes yet. The fight feels and looks awesome, the montage music adds to it, and the subplot of Ten and Roshi speaking is really interesting. Weirdly enough my favorite part this episode was when Ten walked in just as Goku landed from the slam dunk Kururin did on him. He only knew rumors of Goku's strength due to him killing Tao Pai Pai, that was the first time he saw how godlike Goku is and it shocked him. I also want to note, Kururin is normally a coward and it hinders his ability to fight well, but it makes all the sense that when fighting Goku he'd be a natural! Great episode, this arc has been by far the best in terms of fights, I'll see what else when the tournament is over.

There was such an enormous discrepancy between dub dialogue and sub dialogue this episode. Literally like a complete script rewrite. That isn't out of the ordinary for this show, but in this case it had MAJOR changes to characterization to the point that it's no longer a translation so much as literal fanfiction.

i really liked this episode. ten's character development in this arc is amazing and seeing how wise roshi continues to be despite how big the world of dragon ball is getting is great and a fight between goku and krillin is something i've been anticipating since arc 2.

It appears I was right most of my assumptions, Master Roshi wanted the new generation of Goku, Krillin, and Tien to duke it out. Not only is he doing Tien a favor by gently advising him, but he is also presenting an ideal fighter for whoever wins between his two students currently fighting. Master Roshi feels like his time is up, hence why he willingly surrendered despite the fact he could have won with, possibly, mid difficulty. Master Roshi, the GOAT.

The gang is all confused regarding who to cheer for between Goku and Krillin. Understandable, if a group of people starts rooting for one of the combatants, there is a chance the other might get discouraged, significantly hindering his prowess. It is good to see mixed cheerings for both Goku and Krillin, courtesy of the fine blonde Lunch.

I am enjoying the duel between Goku and Krillin, so far. It appears that Goku's love for fighting made him hold back a considerable amount and just fight for fun, because, obviously, Goku would have beat Krillin much faster than this. No offence to Krillin of course, Goku is just too good.

Roshi is quite the wise one - having his students' in mind before himself. Tien, on the other hand, is simply full of himself. It's a shame when he truly has the potential to utilize his power for good. I admire the honesty both Krillin and Goku possess. Glad to see they aren't faking it all for the sake of the other one.

A fight full of techniques!

Good to see Krillian has started to learn from fights and pasts. He really improved a lot. But it takes a lot to defeat Goku. Goku is now in another level.

So I think I was wrong about Master Roushi's intentions. He just wanted that none of his students to win this tournament. So that they keep learning and learning. But is it all or he was trying to awake the good inside Tien?

However it probably is certain that Goku will win but Krillian is giving a good fight to him. Lets see what happens.

This time I am happy that Krillian has less weird opponents, haha! I still remember that gross fight he fought against Bacterium.

If any episode proves that Dragonball is the grandfather of shonen it's this one. Roshi and Tien's conversation was masterclass and you can see that Tien is doubting his own mentality and trying to convince himself hes different. Also Roshi's belief that it is time for a new age of fighters being shown while his students are having the fight of their lives.

10/10 episode, also I love that the show is self aware that we know Goku is probably going to win. I expect Krillin to put up a good showing next episode.
