Ckan said: This episode was pretty bland. It's sad to say, but I believe I preferred the earlier dawdling and dense play. It's amusing that we spent so much time 'studying', yet they haven't explained jack-all about the magic-system. Class-A pathetic world building (putting it in online excerpts is just lazy as proverbial). Yeah because it's not like anime episodes have infinite time to go over 5-6 minutes of exposition like LNs and mangas do... oh wait they don't. Don't confuse laziness with efficacy. Most of the magic shown here is pretty much self-explanatory on visuals and dialogue alone. You are given the bare minimum of what you need to know so the show animate the rest of novels in the most timely manner possible. Be happy they that made dedicated videos to more detailed stuff instead removing it entire like most adaptations tend to do. This approach was done for Steins;Gate and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon and they had even terms and such. But it worked fine them in end. This coming from a LN and Manga reader who is still rather miffed on what they did to second arc. |

Well they did not skip anything important in this episode when compared to Chapter 18 and 19 of manga... I have one question for you though...That old man from the last episode(also shown for a few seconds in this episode) Ashiya Douman is he a divine general too? |

This episode did 3 chapters (18, 19 & 20) actually, but yeah. As for your question, no. I won't say else anything else about him unless under spoilers. More will be revealed about him after this arc though. |

It seems that many things will be revealed in future. My guess about him is that he is some sort of leader of a terrorist group (like Twin Horn syndicate or leader of Divine Generals?) but that's just my assumption. He seems pretty much op since most of the old mans in other Shounen series are powerful person. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

The RAWs go up to ch 41 and current scanlation is only half that. So the anime has essentially caught up to what's been translated. As for what's be covered as far LN goes in the show, we are now in Vol 3. |

Good episode with Touji ogre stuff and all yeah.. but anyways when do they get to revealing Hokuto? Seems like Harutora moved and forgot all about her. Shouldn't there be some closure there? Is this how the novel goes? How does someone forget about a person who been around for uh years? |

Jagd84 said: straggy said: You are joking, right? The episode before this was pretty unfunny filler (really, I wouldn't mind filler if it was actually entertaining, which that mostly wasn't), and a lot of the stuff that happened at the start of this show has managed to just... not be mentioned again. It was never ~*~there all along~*~, as much as you'd like to think it was. They wasted so many episodes at the start to pretty much just kill off Hokuto and set up this stupid pairing (well too bad it drags the show down with it, you mean) which had no impact otherwise. There was that sorta cool blonde girl and the shit with her brother which is pretty much no longer even relevant. Um what? Hokuto died in the 2nd episode which was practically the beginning of plot. How was that wasting a bunch of episodes on her? Just because you don't care for it doesn't mean was irrelevant. As far as the episode 6 was concerned every 24-26 episode anime has one of those lighthearted airings. It will entertain some and others won't. Did you even read my post? I literally said I don't mind filler if it's entertaining but that plain wasn't. I know a lot of 2 cour animes have filler, 1 cour animes have fucking filler. That was literally one of the worst filler episodes I ever saw. No, the entire countryside thing was a waste of time. It added almost nothing. What about that was even relevant past that point? All it did was introduce characters (which they didn't need to do there and the Hokuto stuff that lasted literally one episode could've been in flashbacks instead of wasting all these episodes, like I said), and show a fight which hasn't been relevant since, unlike the fights during the school arc. The school environment revealed a lot more about the characters than the start did. The start was mostly needless drama that was adding cliffhangers and dramatic turns about characters we didn't even have the capacity to care about because it was the very fucking start. This is exactly what drags shows like Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou (if you remember that stupid magical girl flop from last season) down. That show killed a character off at the end of the first episode/start of the second in an attempt to be ~*~gritty~*~ and add "emotion" and we didn't care because we didn't know enough about her. Same with Hokuto. Introducing us to Natsume first and then adding Hokuto flashbacks/flashbacks to becoming Natsume's familiar would've been much more effective because we'd have actually cared by that point. We finally got to the actual setting after episodes of this shit, just to see them wasting a ton of time at the start of their school career, which then culminated in a six month time skip. They felt it necessary to show all this nitpicky bullshit, but then skipped six months just so Harutora could be an all-powerful protagonist that can beat a girl that everyone said was formidable when we first saw her with no fucking lead up. The fact that he beat this apparently great girl, but then couldn't even do the stupid barrier right or pass an exam, just to shit all over the few things we already knew about her character. I guess like Natsume, despite her apparent power too, she's going to have a dumb damsel moment where only the most useless student can save her. Yeah, sure. What are you even talking about here? Where is Harutora being all powerful? What girl did he beat? He defeated one Kyouko's familiars to show his steady improvement in practical combat as well as using his own familiar since Yakou devotee incident, that's it. Whether Natsume gets saved by Haru or not in the future is a stupid nitpick that has nothing to do anything. Being strong does not mean you're invincible. Lastly, the whole point of school arc was to introduce the main cast develop relationships, characters and expanded the setting and foreshadow the bigger plot. Which did adequately. Everything talked about ep 7 saved for the new characters and Touji's stuff was introduced prior. Now it's just expanding on them like any good traditional story. Harutora is supposed to be the most incompetent student to ever be incompetent because he is typical stupid shonen protag. However, when Natsume has a damsel moment (which wasn't my issue here, if you'd actually read my post properly), Harutora (who I just said is horribly incompetent) is the only one capable of saving her. How is that even logical? A guy that literally just got introduced to this shit and he's saving the best student in class? Looks like relationship-breeding bullshit to me. Would've been better to have him get his ass kicked and have to see someone else save her, so maybe he could've got some inspiration to step the fuck up and get better at the whole magic thing. And Kyouko is exactly who I'm talking about. Her familiars beat Harutora in pretty much one hit last time they fought. Kyouko is introduced as a formidable student from a good family with great abilities. He just manages to suddenly beat her at practice with no lead up, essentially appearing all-powerful after this 6 month skip. This sudden improvement would be ok if he'd actually improved, but he hasn't. He can't even set up a simple barrier at the practical exam, he still has to study nonstop, and he's still otherwise portrayed as a moron. Why would such an incompetent guy be able to beat someone who was introduced as one of the best students in class? It's fucking dumb. And lol, introducing the plot is meant to actually be interesting, which none of the stuff prior to this was. They could pretty much have started most of this at the school with flashbacks to the Hokuto stuff and lost mostly nothing to the plot, and in fact kept in some stuff that would actually have been interesting about Harutora learning to not suck in a shorter space of time and some actual explanation about Touji's past (which would've been nice since, unlike so many of these characters, he isn't unbearable), and then got to this stage in the first three or four episodes. The fact that you all keep complaining about them missing stuff out or going too fast is a fucking mystery to me, because this took way too long to actually do anything decent at all. Yes, let's skip who main characters are and all the context need understand anything just because "you don't like it". Newsflash that's not how storytelling works, this show isn't made sole for you. You have right opinion on events that occur, but doesn't make any of them pointless. I unlike you am interested in threads TR is making beyond one character, and yes I also like the main OTP. Laughs because you're not reading my posts properly at all. I said they could've introduced some things through flashbacks whilst moving the plot forwards and still explaining everything. I'm aware that animes aren't made ~*~solely for me~*~, but lol they aren't made solely for you either. Not everything is relevant just because you like it. Just because you like the ship doesn't make it good. Everyone here is entitled to an opinion on this anime and just because I think it's nowhere near as good as it could have been doesn't mean my opinion is wrong, as you've been shouting about for paragraphs. This anime had potential but it is wasting it - only episode 7 has been worthwhile to watch so far. This is hardly the only anime with a slow start, but at least those animes did it well! One anime that springs to mind with a slow start is Shiki. Pretty much nothing happened until the end of the 6th episode and the start of the 7th. They were building the story, and this was without all these elaborately stupid one episode (more like 2 minutes) CGI fights that Tokyo Ravens is full of. That start was much better, though. It was actually entertaining and interesting without irrelevant sections and distractingly bad filler. There wasn't any action, but it still grasped everyone's attention. If Tokyo Ravens' start was good, like that, I wouldn't be complaining about it. I'd be praising it for a slow build up to a good episode that I liked, which is what episode 7 was. Wow, believe it or not yes, episode 7 WAS GOOD. The start of this series was not. At all. |

In this episode she summons only one (Hakuou) If she had summoned both of her familiars then Harutora doesn't stand a chance against her. He just improved his skills in the 6 months time-skip, nothing else. (source) http://mangafox.me/manga/tokyo_ravens/v04/c018/9.html |

I enjoyed a lot both in terms of humor and entertainment. You are not doing anything here but trying push view others. snip Gonna be brief and cut this post down a bit because this just boils down to same rant as your last post. There is absolutely nothing different about ep 7 from rest in terms narrative. Like the previous episodes it's has been building what the others introduce before. Touji's affections? Already foreshadowed in ep 1 and stated to be tied to his ability to use spirit sight back in ep3. Two Horn Syndicate, Yakou's reincarnation, Onmyo Agency (even the mention of division such as Magic Investigation and Exoticism Departments, Divine Generals) even Suzuka's connection to the Yakou has all been worked on in the mist of character expansion, growth and bonding The cast gone through. All Ep 7 did was continue on the same path and while further revealing even more about them. I couldn't careless less if you didn't like because you hate the characters or something. Like I noted before, I'm not here to contest your opinion on this show, but to call out the BS you throw around as fact. Nothing that has happened any of episodes prior has been irrelevant to the plot and those are facts no matter how you twist them. Shoving them all flashblacks for jack is probably one of most asinine things I've heard, especially when that's a story element that should be used sparingly. I don't know why are you still here despite feeling the way do, but your going get more what you don't like and see more of characters you hate. Natsume and Kon are very funny. Scenarios that unlike those of the animated series Strike the blood, are much richer and well made, and involve me more in the story. Good animations, only the CG of the black Mercedes was horrible! D: |

Who/what are these secret organizations and groups and what are they trying to do aside from terrorism? Not sure why the Divine General is here either. Was he just following that ape? Any help would be appreciated. |

Any help would be appreciated. Two Horn Syndicate=Yakou Cult that has been after Natsume since her birth. Their are also terrorists who deliberately caused some catastrophe 2 years prior to story which made spiritual disasters manifest like in this episode and reek havoc. One of the high ranking members who escaped the crackedown by Onmyo Agency is on the loose and plans to restart the spiritual terrorism attacks again. The Divine General Kagami just happened to passing by when pursing that ape. |

Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances. He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter. Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga. Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month. Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel. The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck. |

Looks like Haru decide to do some payback after what Toji did to him 2 years ago. |

Wow. We finally seen more of Touji's character. And also, damn, Hiroyuki Yoshino's character looks so evil! Love characters like this. |
