Do you think you've already had the best years of your life?

It's been a while since I've made a thread. Let's see how it goes.

So, as a few of you might know, I'm in the middle of college undergoing studies for my major. I've still got some years left to sort out a few more things until graduation, so I'm in no hurry.

But once college ends, is that it? I start my career, attempt to live out my dreams, and perhaps have a few joyous times here and there. Everything is perfect just the way it is before graduation. But that'll all go away soon. No more summer breaks, no more crazy antics, no more bliss. It already feels like the greatest time of my life, right now, is slipping away...

So, fellow MALes, do you think you've already passed the greatest years of your entire life?
Will anything ever compare again?

Let's find out.

You know, I have a feeling people won't read the OP past page 1. T___T

I'm 24 years old.

I was in college, and dropped out due to emergent Bipolar disorder.

Later, I was going to be a father, but a bunch of stuff went down, and now I'm alone and that entire part of my life was like a sick joke.

This question is hard for me to answer.

I think on some level, yes, the best years of my life are over because I squandered away my time with my daughter, but at the same time, if I were to embrace and run with my inherited freedom, I could probably be happier in the future.

It is ALWAYS amusing to participate on threads written by teens who think only teens come here :)

Almost as funny as the idiots that get in a snit over me mentioning my age, as if THEY think that 'I' think being 50 is thrilling. I'd rather be 19 again for real.

But best years? Nah, I'm looking forward to being a grand parent. Well I want my son to know what I felt when I held him mere moments after he was born. For those thinking having kids is yuck, or not the greatest well, wait till you are a bit older to be wondering about having them :)

Now as for having already had the best years..... wait till you have actually had enough for you to be able to gauge them too. You can't compare you life against your first vacation till it happens after having worked for a few years and needing it. You can't compare your life from before you were married till after you've been married. You need to have memories of places you have lived, before you can compare them. It's impossible to have nostalgic memories until they are memories from 20 years ago eh.

I for instance, consider movies and music to be 'oldies' if they are from the 50s.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I can't predict the future so I can't say. There's no such thing as the best years of your life anyway since living is an emotional roller coaster.

Interesting...
I'm just about to start college and that thought hits me sometimes...
Him I think as long as you're enjoying life, doing what you love or having a loving family or whatever it is that brings you happiness, then that is the prime of ur life...so my answer would be no...
Of course the cynical side of me thinks that what I just said is a bunch of bullshit because life is never that easy...
So...depends on my mood I guess...:P

I think each phase of our life offers us something new and hopefully meaningful that the previous phase did not. I enjoyed my years in University immensely and had a lot of fun. But, the years after that offered something satisfying as well. I got engaged, bought a house, and got to do some of the traveling I've always wanted to do. So while University was a 'special' time and I have fond memories, my life is still satisfying to me, in different ways. Looking towards the future, there are still many things I wish to accomplish, I will get married, have children, and perhaps accomplish more of the things I have always wanted to do.

Basically, I've found joy in different phases of life in different ways as well as hardships that varied. It's hard for me to rank one above the other as they all offered something unique, which makes it hard to determine what exactly qualifies as "the best times of my life".

If you really believe the best times of your life end in your 20's, then that raises the question; Do you really have such low expectations for the remainder of your life?

Anyone who honestly thinks their life is nothing but downhill from now on should just kill themselves.
Did you ever see that Code Geass spin-off about Nunnally?

Neither did she.

Not at all. I had a similar conversation with my friends recently because they were freaking out about turning 20 and having to take responsibility for themselves. I argued 20s would be even better than teen years because we could do things now that we never could before, like go on road trips, go downtown, whatever, but I still don't think they fully believed me.

Your life is what you make of it. You can sit there and mope about what you once had, or you can embrace the new parts of your life and make the best of it. I think there will always be good things to look forward to in life, and it's not about "better" or "worse"- It's about being happy with what you have and enjoying where you are currently.

Currently 21 years old and in college. If these 21 years where the best I"ll ever have, this life would be pretty boring.
So, I surely hope to have the best years ahead of me. Oh and the thing you said about no more vacations... Become a teacher (like me), then you'll still have those.

Yeah I'm sort of fucked health wise, it's mostly downhill from here on but I'm gonna hang on to my precious life and try to enjoy it as much as I can. Just about the only positive thing to come from it is that I have a very clear perspective and when I actually do have good days I can really soak it in.

Uhh seems depressing having to talk about such a thing lol. Am only 18 and even now it seems like it isn't as fun as being 13ish when I had hardly any responsibilities.

I'm sure there will be other funs parts to my life but being a child and not caring about too much sure was fun :P.
