Why is that important to the story, though?

I thought he was supposed to be a major antagonist or something. There was something interesting/cool about his character. The fact that he seeks something with greater meaning, something that makes him feel more of a fundamental human. With a society built like that, its hard to feel that way about yourself, and also experience the thrill of the hunt.

I thought someone had an artificial copy of his mind in a program stored somewhere and they were going to rebuild him

Or maybe a plot twist occurs, where he has mulitple android copies of himself, and the one that Kogami destroyed was just one of many copies of himself.

nice twist with ginoza and masaoka, father and son
i never really had that idea cross my mind, even with all the subtle hinting from previous episodes (although i was probably paying more attention to the main plot and action xD)

what's up with the old lady at the end? kinda creepy...
something tells me she's probably related to makishima, "shougo-kun", similar hair color
this show gets more interesting every week

i still hope they finish yayoi's backstory from last week. that plotline was pretty good

So the old man was Gin's father. That was a pretty interesting development. It screams out: father giving up his life to protect/save his son in the final battle to me.

I suspect Shogo to be part of some experimental and/or development team for the Sibyl system and has some secret the higher ups don't want coming to light.

Also Akane might have the same 'condition' as Shogo, in that her PP can never get clouded. Will that mean she will have to be made to disappear?

Either way, with Gen at the helm of this anime, I'm not expecting a satisfactory ending that I will like and rate high, but as it stands right now, this anime has gotten really good and I'm really enjoying it. The wait is on for episode 14 now.

He felt like a Disc One Final Boss to me. The end of the first cour was the natural point to end his story and refocus on Makishima.

You know how they were talking about how the sibyl computer was still developing, as it only brings the greatest amount of happiness to the greatest amount of people? Well, i was thinking that maybe Makashima is actually one of those people associated with sibyl, and is testing the system to see if it is actually efficient in the job that it is supposed to do, bring happiness/well-being to the majority of the people. If they catch him alive , then he disappears like the other d00d, and improvements will be made to the system, which will be applied from the feedback regarding the case, etc.

Its a never ending process, and constantly getting better, so theres always room for improvement, and theres the fact that there will never be a utopia.

Makashima's bio: It could be that years back, they found out about people having the crime coefficient immunity condition and this brought the sibyl employees concern. So they decided to find one of these kinds of people, and they found makashima, who was a baby back then. He probably spent most of his whole life in a sibyl facility.

The bio you came up with is exactly along the lines I was thinking. He was probably a test subject along with the other dude in some secret experiment for the sibyl system. My guess is that the sibyl is basically rigged or geared towards keeping certain people down and others in power and basically has the world in a somewhat master and slave dance. This would explain why Shogo is trying to find out what he really is, since according to what he grew up believing was that one such as him, cannot exist.

Great episode. It was quite surprising he was his dad and i think that woman is related to makishima, she sits in the chair before with her eyes shaking and that is usually used to show fear or shock. Can't wait for it to really get deep into the hunt for makishima, perhaps they will go old school and shotgun his head in ^_^

Theory about him being a tester is a good idea :) Woman is suspicious, she is clearly bad in some way xD can't get enough of this show. It keeps me excited throughout even without action, that episode was all talking but i loved it and was intently reading/listening the whole time. A well written show ine very aspect. When the real meat of the show does hit with hunting/fighting makishima it is going to be so exciting and amazing i think :) only a couple months to go now :P

Why is that important to the story, though?

Senguji's house (apparently) being above the execution ground is enough to make an investigation if you ask me. I was totally calling episode 12 would take part of it there. I mean, Oryo's head in the execution ground, Oryo's (and probably more) bones in Senguji's house and a ton of more stuff

I would laugh if we see Makishima there when they obviously lured Kogami to the same place where Oryo's was killed

edit: guys, what does 'kun' mean?

Just from the previous interactions when bringing up Kougami and how he became an enforcer, I picked up those slight hints on the Father-son relationship between Ginoza and Masaoka. So I wasn't too suprised about that reveal, I basically sensed that there would be dialogue between the two characters later in the episode when Ginoza was getting his Psycho-pass checked.

As said earlier, I also reckon there is some history between Makishima and that woman at the end.

Also, was that the Heart of Darkness that Kougami was reading? How fitting. It correlates with the fact that the they are going to have to abandon "civilized" life, one ruled by the Sibyl system, and delve into the Heart of Darkness, the "savage" lifestyle in order to capture Makishima.

Oh, the big reveal is there! Masaoka's Gino's dad. I think errbody saw that one coming.

Akane's great. Just saying. The way she bounced back so quickly was almost out of character, but I guess she's proven herself to be pretty decent at adapting. I wish they showed her right after the incident instead of like a two-week skip.

Old lady after the credits... She knows Shogo personally? She either knows him from a past incident (and has an axe to grind with him) or they might've even collaborated before... Hmm........ HMMMM...

Well ep 13 was filled with lots of indepth conversations Gino's convos with the chairman and his dad were the main ones ^_^
But the minor ones were interesting too:
Kogami and Akane for example Akane visits him at the hospitial and they try to keep up a casual conversation at first. But soon enough they both get to say what they want to say to eachother. Kogami finally stares her down and confronts the main thing (Akane's recovery over her friend's death) Akane does another apology and then she admits that she can understand kogami now "No one will doubt you anymore we have the same goal now...." She says this NOT even facing him and leaves the room (Don't goooooo!)
But then we get to see kogami's reactions to her words after she leaves and IT. KILLS. ME.
Its not a face of relief, or grrr she got to see shogo and i didn't or anger. He makes this face of thought process.....passively like mehh.

Not a bad episode, although not much action this time around. Akane's memories brought back some harsh memories, I like the screenplay (right word?) during that scene, it was well done. The ending was also a twist, and I figured just as much.

Dammit I swear that ep flew by me...>_<! Why's gotta be so damn good, lol.

No but seriously that was a very awesome ep. I can't say I'm too surprised to realize Gino and Masaoka are father/son, I was starting to really catch that vibe over the past few eps--especially ep 10 when he jacked his ass up by the collar after Gino was really making Akane feel bad. The only thing I thought there was 'damn, that look some daddy tough love discipline right there....', lol. Still it's not to see a different angle on their relationship. It would at least seem no matter how much he might have been angry at him turning into latent criminal--it does seem to be part of him that does still respect his insight and advice (dare I even say LOVE....aww, lol).

I definitely gotta give big props to my girl Akane!! That took a helluva lot of strength do what she did w/ that memory scoop. I think this the first true time we see that Gino is genuinely impressed and respected her tenacity to do something that risky.

And need I even mention about Akane & Kogami's hospital moment? I think it's so sweet how she always stops by to see him when he ends up in the hospital (which seems to be rather often.....livin' dangerously much, Ko-chan? lol). It seems to me like Kogami seems to really let her a little bit into his space/world the more they're around each other. Like Akane mentioned it's nice to know now that people know Kogami wasn't crazy and that he was on to something in discovering Shogo is a REAL bad guy and mastermind behind all this.

DAMN this ep ended too soon!! :P
