Its not to convice me, but I don't want you at all to convince me,
but I'm only interested in how the hell can someone, and why mostly girls (Shoujo = manga based for girls) can like/love it!?

Instantly you have to like to main couple, right? Because I do.
But then theres this random fucking guy! (I don't care if he has his reasons or not) who tries to interfere with the main couple because he loves him/her.
If its a girl trying to intefere, depends if they're a bitch or not, because most of the time they don't do anything special.

But in my case (since my mind/taste is just that I HATE love triangles) in any way that another guy tries to intefere with the main couple because he likes/loves the girl...
I just wanna fucking KILL him! It PISSES me off like hell!
And then, even though the manga is such a great one and I love it! The other guy ruins it, and it then I get pissed and drop it...

Fucking shoujo's with their love triangles...
are all shoujos with fucking love triangles?

Anyways, so what do you think?

XD I just wish they didn't exist to intefere with the main couple

-------------
Though if it was a story about an abusive boyfriend/husband and being a real dick to the girl (with NO love at all from him)
Then I think I'd like for a nice guy to come in and save her.

As for it being realistic, I've never been in a relationship so I can't compare, but even then I would still HATE it.

an emergent love triangle is the shojo equivalent of a 'power-up' in a shonen anime.

it's employed by the author when he/she is running out of ideas and needs something cheap to make things interesting again.

I don't like love triangles when the one of them interupts the love between the other two.
But a love triangle can also be interesting. Interesting in the way that it can be difficult to predict who the main character will end up with.

To me, it's interesting to see a girl who loves a guy, but knows there's another girl who loves him too. It makes you want to support the girl. It's a way for the audiences to interact with the characters. You have a lot of character archetypes in harems because it creates a well-rounded chance for each of the girls to get the guy.

I don't live with it. I drop them and try to find romance animes/mangas where theres no love triangles.
I'd recommend you do the same

Yeah, I also understand that part. But since I've watched a lot of anime/read a lot of manga, I just assume that I know its going to be bad
and even if it doesn't, (which is pretty much impossible) its still gonna piss me off no matter what xD

Just looking at the guy's face and appearance to a scene pisses me off.
When that happens, I just skim through the anime (skip some scenes)

That's allot of "fucking" your doing there Waalex =P

I think if i would have to think of this from an authors point of view. Maybe the author is trying to make you feel bad, i mean if an author can make you feel anything for characters or a story then that's probably a good thing, after all its that emotional connection to a set of characters that keeps you reading and buying. They are trying to get any emotional reaction out of you, after all if you ever read a particular cringe worthy moment in a manga and you feel bad for the characters that shows some level of attachment for those characters in the first place, you feel sympathy etc etc and it all builds up to that moment of relief (this is starting to sound dirty) when you get through that sad plot line at the end of the story.

So yeah, i think its to try to raise any type of emotion out of you to care for the plot more. Whether or not this works for you personally changes from person to person but i am also not a huge fan of the magical triangle, i end up feeling bad for someone.

I liked the one in the original Macross, since he dumped the girl I hated and went with the far superior one. :3

i wish the main character had a real chance of choosing the 2nd person in the triangle the first person always gets chosen and its the biggest spoiler you can really have for a series that revolves around it. If somebody can point a anime to me where the first girl introduced is not the one the main character chooses, please direct me too this new experience.

There can't be a romance anime without a love triangle! If your looking for a one way romance then I suggest looking at anime series that are less focused on romance genre. Because romance is about love and for sure enhanced relationship development is what love triangles are about.. Most of them tend to never end though, but there are some which does

Anyway for sure. Most of the time the main couples are the ones who get together in the end, it's realistic because every relationship in the world goes through problems so basically the main couples relationship will become stronger because of the experience of a love triangle and more ;P

You just have to deal with it I guess, you can't really drop an anime because of this reason though. Although I reckon most anime have this scenario because it brings a lot into the story etc ;) it really focuses on the romance genre!

idk why i love them so much its one of my horrible guilty pleasures. i get so excited when another potential lover comes in to try and take a person away from their lover because it always just ends up strengthening the original couples relationship in the end, one thing i dont like though are love squares THEY SUCK

But a love triangle can also be interesting. Interesting in the way that it can be difficult to predict who the main character will end up with.

However it really depends on the kind of love triangle. I agree with the posts above. If there are two guys interested in a girl (We're talking about shoujo, right? No male reader oriented harem, although that's both annoying and boring imo) and it's obvious who she'll end up with, to me the other guy is only interfering with them and being a nuisance. But then again, if it wasn't for that person, the main couple could get together right away in some cases.

Love triangles are basically free plot and drama which is why they are common in that genre. Most couples in the genre are so into each other that without outside influence the show would get incredibly stale and unrealistic(even for animu standards). Conflict is interesting and deepens the relationship making it substantially more rewarding.

Now, I fucking despise it too. However, I understand its use for broadening a story and if done in a good way, its not really that bad. The third love interest usually gets screwed over a third of the way in the series anyways so its all good.

I hate them when the MC's are having a good time so to say, and are in a relationship or close to it, and then suddenly some guy shows up and falls in love with the girl for some ludicrous reason, and the girl kind of looks like she's kind of into him after he makes some moves, even though she's not actually going for him anyway. As a reader it pisses me straight off, and makes me like her that much less.

I prefer dodecahedrons.
Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past."
