Seeing as how it's based on a series of light novels that haven't yet concluded, I am hoping it doesn't have an ending and continues to tell short stories like it is now.

Am i the only one slightly disturbed by the movement of the Skinned Chicken Boss during his speech? *shivers* I knew there was a reason i preferred my chicken in parts or nuggets.

Anyway, i loved this episode. It's weird as ever, but gave me quite a few laughs. The assistant's cynical story to that scoop scene- all hilarious along with the cliff scene. Ave Maria fit everything. It gave me PPG and Ice Age flashbacks. Also the subliminal messages on certain topics are neat. So far i'm loving this series.

i never even thought i'd pick this up

now it's on the top 3 or top 5 this season.

the ave maria insert was brilliant. watashi was also awesome this episode. and the assistant with his negative side.... i just related to him too much and cracked at his idea of a joke.

edit: it helped a lot that i was eating chicken throughout the episode.

I find this series weird and so do many others, but what is this weirdness? Upon a further inquiry, I think I found an answer.

Watashi seems genuinely human with her curiosity and willpower (or lack therefore) pushing her through the events in the episode; the rest, not so much. The two that stand out clearly as plot devices and not characters are the assistant and the manager. The assistant pulls out an inappropriate joke at an inappropriate time, clearly to discombobulate the viewer from the serious tone of the preceding scenes. The assistant, subsequently, nonchalantly leaves Watashi alone, only to come to her supposed rescue, which Watashi enlightens us is for his exclusive scoops. Next, all the manager spouts are his supposed benefits and risks as the events take place. He clearly is a mouthpiece for social commentary without a shred of emotion that is not from something calculated. The audience is forced to follow the plot, while listening to background noise coming from the manager. The plot is deemed solved without a shred of evidence. Clearly, this series gives little care about its plot or its character (except for Watashi).

I'm trying to understand character motivation, when there exist none. I'm trying to follow the plot, when there exist none. No wonder I find this anime weird. The only way to enjoy this episode (if not the first episode as well) is to shut off my usual brain functions concerning storytelling and concentrate on the comedy it presents us, very much like stand-up comedy. Now the real question is whether I can tolerate 12 episodes of stand-up comedy. Luckily for me, I have hopes in Watashi being a human being. After all, the only thing I enjoyed while watching the first two episodes (without my brain turn off) is Watashi's humanity.

Love this series so far. Love the social commentary and dark humor. Perhaps my favorite scene being the chickens, Watashi adjusting her glasses when she was supposed to be listening to the speech, and the "gunfight".

@ s2012k1993

There is a lot more to this than stand up comedy. It's pretty obvious at this point that the characters are supposed to represent various things wrong with people and society in general. Such as the manager only interested in promotion and the guy who works at the factory but doesn't actually know what the fuck he's doing in the slightest.

I don't think the show is trying to create deep multifaceted characters...though the traits shown have been very human. Greed, reliance on God, laziness...and maybe even some other things I may have missed.

I am not arguing that this series is bad, but that watching Humanity has Declined with the usual perspective of watching an anime results in a painful/weird experience (at least for me). A good story is run by its characters and a decent plot. Both are missing in this series. What it instead has are caricatures for characters and something that resembles a plot for the sake for having a plot.

Also, I don't look down at stand-up comedy. In addition to providing me with laughs, it can poke fun at society and the audience. Even enlightening! What stand-up comedy is not, however, is good storytelling. Now that I know not to expect storytelling, I can enjoy this series for what it is.

A series that manages to remind me of Edward Gorey and Idiocracy in the same timespan is surely a formula for something wonderful. But now I will shiver whenever eying my can of food and the less than identifiable ingredients within.

This show caught me completely off guard.

It's damn hilarious, yet it feels like Kino no Tabi but more cunning, critical and cynical. Also, I really like how the OP & ED are quite related to the show itself. This is easily the most overlooked show of the season.

This story is actually the continue of the movie Chicken Run(2000). The Chickin here actually run away and have revenge on human mankind and plan to take over the world by controlling the economy.

I think I made wrong assumption on the headless chicken last episode lol
Seems like the Chickin(processed Chicken) seems to have gain some "wisdom" from the fairy and they went coup d'état against the harmless(maybe) fairy. The hair growth product also contain "wisdom" in it and MC seems to use it without any precaution .Well, the result is that she now can have tentacle hair to play on her own-self.
It is amazing how these fairy would do anything just for some sweet candy ^.^
