| Another amazing episode from Toei.I remember this is where I caught up with the manga last year,ahh good times.I hope most watchers will take a good lesson from this flashback about racism & prejudice. Yup,a human killed Otohime,who else would?Hordy?You're out of your mind. And yup,Luffy slept through the whole backstory of fishman island.I remember that irritating some people & I say,"People,it's Luffy.He doesn't care about a history lesson". |

| Finally the flashbacks are over, but they were pretty nice I guess. I like how the manga is still pretty far ahead of the anime (at chapter 666 while anime just got to 627), so no fillers for a while I guess. Can't wait for the epic Straw Hat action that will happen pretty soon. |

| Funny how all this time I've praised the flasbacks, but now I thought all that crying and explaining Neptune's motives and such took too long. Glad to be finally back to the present. Nami forgiving Jimbei and him crying manly tears was awesome and touching. And was it just me, but I haven't heard Nami's voice in at'least a month and it was really refreshing to hear a familiar voice once again. And all the other Straw Hats voices as well ofc. Also nice to see that they upped the animation for the present-scene. |

| Nami has officially won my personal award for most badass female character. Also loved Jinbei in this ep. | Luffy always seems to find it difficult to follow backstories. I don't blame him with all of these sad backstories. And yeah, having a human kill the queen was way too convenient to fuel their hatred towards humans. Hordy has a hand in this. |

| Did a human we've never seen before really kill Otohime? Although Hordy didn't seem like he was faking his reactions, the genuine reactions of his seemed to come from Jimbei trying to hide the body. Rather, a human with a gun was shot and not even questioned. Hordy has shown himself to show no mercy to human sympathizing fishmen, and even his own allies(using one as a meat shield). Is it so crazy to suggest he assassinated Otohime back when the signatures were coming in? If it was a move to stop fishmen from living under the sun then we can see it happening again right now as the time to move was nearing. The princes and Shirahoshi being so dutiful to take over their mothers wish and having Jimbei pull a Tiger and try to hide the body was touching stuff. The themes of this arc feel super on the nose. They're great don't get me wrong, Jimbei asking what he should do with his anger, or Neptune asking why he shouldn't kill the man who shot his wife are perfect examples of the unavoidable hatred and resentment we can feel as people. Further, acting not out of necessity like Tiger, but out of hate like Arlong or Hordy will almost always keep the fight going forever. But, the way it's spelt out so clearly over and over again makes it feel a little cheesy. I was wondering why Luffy, the guy who walked away from Nami's backstory, was so interested in this one. I presumed it may be because so many people he cares about are deeply linked to it. However, the joke this time was that he was just doing what he always does, sleeping from the start of the backstory. That was good, and having Franky shout and cry after the story was a great touch of comedy, Franky is great. Then having Jimbei break down being moved by Nami showing altruism only seen in some of the most legendary people he's ever known was nice too. I mean she did forgive Hachi!!! Then, Hordy... I won't lie, having Hachi remark exactly what I've picked up felt really good! Hordy is so hateful and horrible, even to his own- the people Arlong called his brethren. He endorsed the brutalizing of Hachi, he has his men storming the fishman streets, and unlike what Hachi suggested with him showing no mercy to human sympathizers- HE USED HIS OWN ALLY AS A MEAT SHIELD! It's not just human sympathizers.. Hordy is a super interesting villain to me, as a warped version of the already warped Arlong. He somehow shows Arlong's strengths in contrast to his own, something I never thought I'd see, and I'm fascinated by his motives. |
| Hordy's suspicious as hell. Of course he did it lmao Fukaboshi's speech that rallied the people to continue to follow Otohime's footsteps no matter what was a very emotionally-driven and inspirational moment. I'm glad that they didn't give into despair even after seeing their mother die right before their eyes. Nami's response was the most rational and level-headed answer ever. She didn't lash out on someone else for another person's actions and she refused to let her hatred fester into something that will ultimately drag her down. Kudos to her. |
