Ah yes, the life of a manga artist. Futami seems like a decent hardworking character but not too experienced yet in her field. Good thing she's got support. I like her style of art though. Those characters she drew has emotions, at least for a shoujo manga. There's also definitely some chemistry between the main cast from what they've shown so far. Looks like they're going to focus mostly on an adult cast at a workplace for the show. |

It's been a LONG while since we've had a mangaka-focused CGDCT series since Spring 2018's Comic Girls, and coming from the same author of Spring 2014's Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, Kuzushiro is back with one of his latest series of pretty much a similar concept. You can never go wrong with HoneyWorks's songs, with the OP feat. HaKoniwalily to be bright sounding. Sure, the aspiring mangaka Nana Futami working with her illustrator Mizuki Hazama on her own Shoujo rom-com series, though the purple-haired girl isn't the brightest author of her kind, being supported by her editor Kaede Satou...though even her own editor can be quite a klutz at times. But even with her qualms, Futami really has a lot of work to do overcoming her problems, some with fellow colleagues, and most with her editor. Sizuk's ED is actually good. Along with it, this'll be a fun one. |

Cute girls making manga. I recently re-watched Comic Girls and Mangirl!, and I'm hoping this show to be at least as good as those two or even better. Funny and promising start here. I like the OP. Hmm, this seems to be the only CGDCT (if we are only talking about MAL tags) of the season. |

Seems like Mangaka are pretty high maintenance for everyone around them. And they still use FAX? Do those things even get sold now? The aside the character where pretty funny with their behaviours it was nice to watch. |

I got into this one not really knowing what to expect and I must say I was favorably impressed. This first episode made me think that the series was going to be a fine mix between New Game! and Comic Girls. Like these two shows, it seems to be a (relatively) realistic take on a job in the entertainment industry but also very cute/moe oriented. Of course the series has its own brand of originality. Futami is hilarious as a socially anxious mangaka with an overactive imagination, while Hazama works really well as her assistant (and straight man) with a deadpan brand of humor, plus let's not forget Sato as Futami's (slightly) airheaded and shy editor. So far, these three work fantastically well together, I'm looking forward to see more of their interactions, but also to meet more characters. Great start :) |

@Aversa yes fax machines are still core part of Japan work society. Everyone loves to say "Japan is living in the future" but thats not the case with a lot of stuff. |

EP 1 Egao time? hmm Oh starting with the op immediately Also anime about manga The op itself is kinda lots of very fax intensifies also i know its like legit do they always work at 2/3am sheesh surprisingly nothing crazy happened like how is brain still working at 2/3am? welp hmm does the meme make the anime or the anime make the meme FORGOR hahaha sadge soo forgor? she forgor? Uh Thats a really weird way to end the ep Like really? Im assuming they are going to continue that next ep Or its going to be a trend that the transitions and what not are going to be weird? Anyway ed time Not much to say (the last frame is used for 10 seconds? glub) Post ed scene So in this ep Not really much to say actually its hard to tell Im assuming every ep is going to be like this For better or worse theres a few characters and yet it feels oddly like too little and too many Probably will see again in ep 2 and TLDR: Does the anime make the meme or does the meme make the anime? EDIT: One thing I will say though is the scene(s) where she is crying is actually done very well a lot of anime usually struggle(?) with those kinds of scenes (comic girls also did crying scenes quite well) |

Futami is really a handful and with all her weird fantasies about her editor lol Hazama does a fine job babysitting her 😄❤️❤️ It's very obvious that Futami and Sato really have the hots for each other or is it just a mutual attraction out of respect and I'm reading too much into it. The op by Honeyworks really slaps 💖✨ Loving the characters so far. Gonna give this a try. |

This reminds me of Zatsu Tabi from two seasons ago, especially with the ending theme by Sizuk (and Nagi Yanagi). Anyway, it's a decent first episode, the animation is good. And both the opening and ending themes are great. 8/10 for the first episode. |

Well aside from Crunchyroll's shitball subs taking up half the damn screen, it was pretty good 1st episode. Guess ill have to check out some other options to see if the subs are a bit better *edit Yup normal font subs, sailing the high seas |

Yeah, this isn't a CGDCT show, because in order to quantify that those girls would actually have to being doing something. After 8 minutes of watching the main girl have a nervous breakdown over the prospect of sending an e-mail, I'll just go find something else to watch. What an absolutely awful way to start off a show. |

I couldn't fully connect to the MC here, very quirky. But maybe I'll get used to it after a few episodes, the workplace aspect is quite appealing. |

@hermgonewild Fax transmissions are easier to secure than email at lower and mid range security levels. Email is theoretically more secure, but you have to get to spook level tech and high discipline to do that. |

@Occasus - I think you managed 2 minutes longer than me. Horrible start, with one of the most annoying girls in anime this year. Can't imagine watching 13 episodes of her screaming and crying. Yuk. A shame. Was looking forward to this as it's rare to get a manga-focused anime. But... nah. |

lol I find this funny because I used to be like her about emails and calls and stuff. somehow I disliked Bocchi the rock though, but I like this and the Silent witch. I guess in Bocchi there were other aspects that bothered me, not the anxiety of the character. I also think it's great there's a character that kicks her butt. I'll deffo keep watching this |

I can't deny that this anime has some good production values, but Futami being a hot mess all the time is already wearing thin. Hopefully there is more to this story than Futami daydreaming about her editor's love life and having conniptions whenever she talks to her. |

What's great about this is that Kuzushiro, the author of the original work this anime is based on, is actually drawing another comic about shogi called Eisei Otome no Tatakaikata for Shogakukan (it's serialized on Big Comic Superior). |

Decent first episode, I like the characters and the animation seems good. At the moment I don't see myself scoring it higher than a 7 but as this is adapted from the works of the Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san author, I knew I had to check it out. |

YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH A HONEYWORK'S OP!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ loved it!!!!! Futami is a silly and over the top girl which is actually cute af. I don't find it annoying one bit. the definition is annoying is Mashiro from Detective ms These Days Are Crazy (ugh). Satou is cool, elegant, yet gets flustered somewhat easily? that's so damn cute, my goodness. love the art and animation AND VA!!! honestly, Futami x Satou is gonna be a dream come true but oh well, it's just me being wishful. gonna be keeping up with this for sure. i might have just found the next anime to fill the void after Bad Girl finished airing. ❤️ |

Day and night is something thats often flipped in the publishing industry after all. Futami sure has a pretty active imagination. Goes with her job i guess. Hazama's ability to handle her makes her the true master though lol. Seems that Satou has her own problems in the department as well. Really like the bond between Satou and Futami though. Kinda like one between a mother and daughter. Overall a pretty good opening ep that featured a great blend of character intros and comedy via Futami and Satou's interactions. |

So the first ep shows how both the main charecters are kinda shy for eachother giving a hint of " Yuri " vibes but sure PG-13 should keep things limited also, Futami is sura gonna be a entertaining charecter ! |

I really enjoyed the first episode, it was cute and funny! I had a feeling they would turn the manga into a CGDCT anime, and I’m glad to see it finally happened. This is one of my favorite yuri mangas, so I was really happy to see it get an anime adaptation. ^_^ |

This is a really cute show, Nana is a disaster in the best way possible she has a really nice dynamic with Kaede so far. Definitely gonna be more like stardust telepath when it comes to the GL genre and be extremely subtle with it. Great first episode |

This is one of my most anticipated shows this season. I don't know anything about it, but it's a depiction (albeit not being the most accurate one) of mangaka and it's full of girls. Quality is surprisingly consistent throughout the whole episode, let's just hope this is the case with the remaining 12. I thought it was a fun introduction, but apparently a lot of people didn't like it. Oh well, to each their own. |

Honeyworks music+ Mangaka/editor yuri?? Sign me tf up, this is sooo cute. Futami and Sato struggling to express themselves is going to be my wholesome romance of the season lol. Idk how people are rating this so low after one episode. Why do dudes who clearly hate shoujo and CGDCT continue watching things they have no interest in and review bombing it? It’s exactly as described, Futami is a loveable MC, Sato is great and Futami’s assistant teasing her constantly is so funny. This is great |

Am I the only one that watched the whole episode and didn't feel neither entertained nor got any laugh of it? It does look pretty and the art is consistent, but the comedic writting isn't there. The main mangaka Futami kinda tries to be a mix between Bocchi and Kaos sensei, but she's not funny neither as a socially akward character nor as a frustrated mangaka. Even Mizuki that's supposed to be the straight man in the most basic manzai style comedy feels lukewarm at best. I'll give it just one more episode and see if it gets better. |

Echoing the sentiment here that the MC wore thin very quickly with the constant shouting and melodrama. As Kimurah said above, I found it neither entertaining nor humorous. I'll give it a fair shot and tune in next week but if episode 2 is chore to get through then I'll probably just drop it. |

I'm genuinely surprised reading the comments here. You would think that a forum full of anime watchers would sympathize with the socially awkward protagonist having to deal with the minefield that is "professionalism". Like, struggling to write an email to your boss explaining why the deliverable was late is a classic shy introvert problem. ...But my guess is not that everyone here is socially adept, but moreso that most people here do not have a job where professionalism is required... sorry lol. But anyway, I thought it was a great first episode. Lot of relatable stuff here, from messing around with how to word an email, to struggling to decide whether to call or message someone that you're going to meet with soon. I will agree that MC is a bit over-the-top, but it aligns with her occupation and its stereotypes. Oh and just to add, fax machines are frequently used in Japan, but they're also still used in the west as well. Healthcare, law firms, government agencies, banks, real estate, insurance... lot of industries still rely on it. |

Like, struggling to write an email to your boss explaining why the deliverable was late is a classic shy introvert problem. Bocchi the Rock, Watamote and even Comic Girls among other similar titles nailed the relatability part for introverts in it's narrative with either great visuals or witty writting that would make the vast majority of their target audience claiming "I feel you". This one on the other hand, just wasn't it. Don't even take my own personal take as evidence of it being a flop, just take a look at the room and see how many feel any relatability to sending an email and making it a massive mess. The joke feels stale or aimed to a very very narrow audience. Like Krusty's out of touch comedic routines "You mean like when your lazy butler washes your sock garters and they’re still covered with schmutz?" stevejawbs said: ...But my guess is not that everyone here is socially adept, but moreso that most people here do not have a job where professionalism is required... sorry lol. Eh? I worked as an IT tech for a medium sized company years ago and left it in good terms, I've been my own boss for several years and that's how I like it. My former boss still gives me a call every now and then to fix/upgrade their now downsized company's equipment. You don't need to be a 9-5 corpo slave to be professional, but that's something you can't learn by writting a corpo email and think to yourself "man, I'm such a pro because I nailed that email". |
