I treat this more as a hobby space, being a moderator would take the fun away for me and I couldn't just call it quits whenever I feel like it. I do, however, appreciate people willing to do this job.

If community mod only if I was able to change something other than just keeping this unsustainable status quo of how current rules are too open ended and close any discussion a random mod doesn't like even if another is fine with it. I also think the rules may need rewritten entirely or have a tl;dr version to be made easier to follow. Some things need done by the developers to enact my ideas on self moderation which I've seen multiple current and past staff support the ideas I proposed for that like the blacklisting of user input words and phrases so people can avoid topics that really set them off. I was hoping that would avoid a lot of conflict. Id also need a way to contact other mods which I currently do not have outside of MAL itself. Also on my tablet there is a bug causing icons not to display that would need fixed otherwise Id be limited to my phone. I also might consider doing other positions like data base but only as a mild role since I do not keep up on that stuff enough.

Well, a good portion of the regulars here would presumably be accepted, seeing as there is need for it in many of the branches. Given that they're not applying for it, answer seems to be a no.

I actually would moderate for a couple of months (up to like half a year) if they gave indefinite MAL Supporter perk. Currently the benefits are just too meagre for the effort, I'd say. (if the best perk this site can offer is the excuse to talk more with a fellow moderator, you're not doing enough lol)

I wasn't exactly thrilled about that part either, but it's not as bad as it sounds. At least, it hasn't been so far.

I don't think that's what he's saying (@Shishio-kun, please correct me if I'm wrong) but rather that most regulars aren't suited in temperament, or you'd see more of them as moderators.

I think they have to have the tl;dr version (fine print) for all the random once-in-a-decade instances that pop up. These fucking users always on some technical GOTCHA BS. So obnoxious. Maybe there could be a tl;dr version, and fine print in spoilers.

The way modding is done could be adjusted for multiple tiers. Been saying this for years. Let some dedicated users do clean up and thats it - like deleting spambots and GenshinRosarios disgusting posts asap etc.

I was talking to Kineta about being a mod once (I was interested and asked if I would have to keep DMs open) and she said yes so I was like fuck that it's too much to keep up with lol. And it'd be too annoying. I think I had to answer them all too? I just want to put out fires, not be a social worker with some of these clowns too. And you know some users must give mods a real hard time over DMs, holy shit!!!!

@CC idk what his reasons are for thinking regulars are unfit, it's common belief that the mods are bias or just don't care. I'm not saying you are that's the general belief, especially if you ever dig up old threads.

Yea, mods are associated with online police, a label with many downsides.
