I think I spend enough time on this site to be able to properly monitor it, however, other than deleting things like spam and helping the users out when needed I don't think I'd be able to enforce most of the discussion-related rules, so I'd have to refrain from taking this position. How about the rest of you? |

No thanks, not even in my NEET days would I seriously consider spending my time on additional work rather than just plain normal leisure. The most I would consider would be some form of forum moderator light who would be able to delete or alter postings that would contain spam bot messages or would be too graphic or in any other form extremely disturbing, but I wouldn't want to handle the bans and the enforcing of the special rules especially not when there is no harm being done. Plus, I don't see myself wanting to commit for such a long time. If it's voluntary, I'd prefer to help directly with minor stuff such as directly cleaning the spam and the extreme postings rather than reporting those and only adding to the queue when those might have been reported already |

Yes - as an active user I would like to put my influence to help the site. It is a rarity for me to be active for a decade or more in a site and I mean Active not a random user whom barely shares thoughts in public. Whenever I was active in certain groups or stuff I usually try to go into more stuff, which is why I have personal experience of moderating and posting on facebook page of a specific sport club aswell as managing the messages. Unfortunately I wasn't active in many stuff so it is limited to very little occasions. Jokingly I might say that I've went into quality instead of quantity. |

Well, a good portion of the regulars here would presumably be accepted, seeing as there is need for it in many of the branches. Given that they're not applying for it, answer seems to be a no. I actually would moderate for a couple of months (up to like half a year) if they gave indefinite MAL Supporter perk. Currently the benefits are just too meagre for the effort, I'd say. I forgot to throw in my own two cents ^^' I treat this more as a hobby space, being a moderator would take the fun away for me and I couldn't just call it quits whenever I feel like it. I do, however, appreciate people willing to do this job. Just imagine for a second... His knees growing weak in front of your authority while he constantly begs you for affection. He'd be dancing at the palm of your hand melting from the slightest touch of your fingertips... ...or do you prefer it when he plays hard to get? Besides you might get cucked by CC if you don't become a mod |

If community mod only if I was able to change something other than just keeping this unsustainable status quo of how current rules are too open ended and close any discussion a random mod doesn't like even if another is fine with it. I also think the rules may need rewritten entirely or have a tl;dr version to be made easier to follow. Some things need done by the developers to enact my ideas on self moderation which I've seen multiple current and past staff support the ideas I proposed for that like the blacklisting of user input words and phrases so people can avoid topics that really set them off. I was hoping that would avoid a lot of conflict. Id also need a way to contact other mods which I currently do not have outside of MAL itself. Also on my tablet there is a bug causing icons not to display that would need fixed otherwise Id be limited to my phone. I also might consider doing other positions like data base but only as a mild role since I do not keep up on that stuff enough. |

@Zarutaku This. I'm NOT a confrontational type, and I know that regardless of literally anything, people will hate moderators. Once I became a subreddit moderator... to help them migrate a theme over perfectly from their previous subreddit (I offered them this, exactly as described, and they knew I was a regular on the old subreddit, so they let me right in without hesitation), before instantly demodding myself. It was a stressful 10 minutes with the badge, seeing the horrors that is modmail, even on what was an extremely small subreddit I just liked. 🥶 EDIT: The subreddit was r/AIDungeonNSFW2, after the previous subreddit got banned for the only moderator quitting... I think. EDIT2: The subreddit is exactly what it sounds like. Below is a personal favorite screenshot I posted there (Imgur deleted it due to it being posted anonymously before the deletion policy was changed, so the original post is missing it). The only part I wrote was the part on the ">" line, with the rest being good old GPT-whateverthehell-the-free-tier-was-on. Not ChatGPT, not GPT 3.5, the old pre-ChatGPT versions. Back when AI was just text completion with a learning disability. x) EDIT3: Might as well also mention, "why didn't they just use r/RedditRequest to force enroll a new mod?" Well... they could've. First, I think, if I'm remembering right, one of the moderators actually had a higher importance account (Or however Reddit mod roles work) than the rest, due to them making the subreddit, but was never active afterwards. Then the account got hacked, the hacker booted the rest of the moderators, I think they wiped all posts, then deleted the account, getting the subreddit insta-banned for being unmoderated. Perfect story for r/RedditRequest (If I got it right), right? Well, the homeless mods didn't like downtime, so they made the second subreddit, and the community instantly (Like, really fuckin' instantly) flooded in there. The mods now had a weird situation. The original subreddit was banned, and while r/RedditRequest was on the table, reclaiming the old subreddit would take a while (Hence their decision), and if it weren't the case that it'd be slow, well now the community would be confused and fractured between the old and new subreddit, and migrating posts from one subreddit to the other is just too hard if it's a thing at all. So... they didn't renew it, and left the old subreddit in the void, to avoid confusion. It shockingly worked (Minus a very small few stragglers who went to the main r/AIDungeon subreddit to ask, get quickly pointed in the right direction, then picking right up), and the subreddit is STILL active to this day. AI Dungeon changed too much for my liking (They added microtransactions to literally just use the service, and I left. Then they reversed it, but I was already doing other AI things by then), so I'm really shocked to see that the NSFW subreddit is still there. |

Maybe there could be a tl;dr version, and fine print in spoilers. The way modding is done could be adjusted for multiple tiers. Been saying this for years. Let some dedicated users do clean up and thats it - like deleting spambots and GenshinRosarios disgusting posts asap etc. I was talking to Kineta about being a mod once (I was interested and asked if I would have to keep DMs open) and she said yes so I was like fuck that it's too much to keep up with lol. Auron said: Well, a good portion of the regulars here would presumably be accepted, ?!?! Hard disagree. A massive portion of the regulars are absolutely not suited to be moderators. There's the stereotype of mods getting power-crazy. There's certain personality traits that lead into that. These traits are within a significant portion of the users especially regulars. Why would modding the community at all be such a stressful position that it changes the personality of users who do become mods? Because the community and those users are a pain in the ass towards mods and each other if the slightest thing goes wrong; they would be unqualified to be on the other side. The community couldn't even handle Current Events. The anime community isn't "bad", but there's definitely a lot of room for improvement- myself included! |

I got offered a long time ago, but I said no since it is essentially charity work. Having no salary from it makes it like a unpaid job. Beyond that, I like going a bit off the rails at times not playing the safe route. I am not exactly the role model that could desserve such a position. I do respect the mods for their work though. A lot better than the trash ai mods of youtube and X. |

I think (from the top) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, (8th is already a mod lol), skipping myself for non-admissible judgement, 11th, 13th user (stopping at you and below), would be about as decent as the average community mod assuming hour-availability (whether that's too a low bar I leave to your judgement), give or take. I modded a community before, it's not rocket science. I think the random episode discussions user would fare significantly worse on average—primarily because they tend to be very heated and impulsive. The positions mostly don't get filled because people don't wanna do it, and the perks are just pretty not worth it, one'd mostly do it for personal reasons—which is actually who you should be more concerned about power-tripping on average, the user who is doing it for the love of the game, lol. |

Ack...ahhhh I'd think hard about it at least. I think I could easily just see myself making it my job of sorts, like I did moderating for Playstation communities, I watched them all like a hawk and it probably wasn't good for me in the end. I don't think I'm quite the same person I was back then, not sure how well I'd manage being flooded with messages and notifs, plus my phone sucks if I'm out of the house. |

@Zarutaku This. I'm NOT a confrontational type, and I know that regardless of literally anything, people will hate moderators.

Yea, mods are associated with online police, a label with many downsides.
@Zarutaku That just means you can wield their own power against them during the cultural revolution! |
Another hero? Oh, please! You're a god-damn philistine. |

@CC but I wanna wield power for people, not against them. |

Lol no, especially since I'm pretty sure that when you get multiple warnings from mods you can't apply for it. |
