The main heroine of the show just can’t go down as easily as that right? So yeah, even if that meant his secret will be known to the people around him, Jinwoo healed her. Though him extracting Yoon-ho’s friend’s shadow did seem very evil lol, except he let him pass on peacefully later. Really though, if it wasn’t already a single man show, it does feel like the success of this entire jeju island raid goes to Jinwoo itself lol, which isn’t exactly wrong either. See him becoming a celebrity now though. Btw, talking of becoming something, finally we had the Beru scene and him joining the shadow army. Really hype seeing the same scenes from the manhwa here, I mean he’s going to be really a character going forward… serving his liege to the fullest xD

Though yeah, this really has been a ride. This ends the first season of the manhwa as well, I mean some new characters also making presence, so yeah, safe to assume they want to adapt this series till the end. If anything, A-1 took their game to a level, or a two, above in this second season. You can see the effort and the money they’ve poured in. They should get the returns as well, though yeah, the bottom-line being, they did the justice to the most popular manhwa in existence. No one can say otherwise.

I mean, yeah, was pretty obvious that he was to revive healer bro to save Haein, legit was no need to make that the cliffhanger of last episode but yeah lol. Besides the hype ass fight of last episode ofc, this scene was probably my second favorite scene of the whole raid, Jinwoo cancelling the healer's extraction after he revived Haein that is, as it's just a good scene and interaction between him and Yoonho. After all that's said and done though, it's time to finally leave the island once and for all, with Jinwoo paving the way for everyone in case... though, not before arising some more ants first though xD

But with that, yeah, the raid is officially over now. Not without some last couple cheeky impact frames to fully show off ofc. Really though, they didn't need to go full One Piece for a second there for such a tiny scene lol. Everything else that followed was pretty much just closure to the arc and everything else. Which ofc as well as now that Jeju Island is safe and back to normal, the whole thing that's been setup since the beginning of the show, there needs to be some setup for the next season... which yeah... so excited... And ofc ending right where season one of the manhwa ended as well.

Yeah, after this, to me, this series takes a massive dip in quality, that was already shown a bit with the cracks in the writing departments in this season, but from here on, yeah, it gets really bad. Hope the anime can do something to better that, and I'm pretty sure they will with how much they like to add some new shit, so if they contiue on with that, then maybe, jsut maybe, I'll like it more than the abborhent manhwa's direction.

This season wasn't as good as season one for me, but still pretty enjoyable overall.

Now that's what I call a level up, up to level 100 for Shun! Worthy of the season finale hype imo. But yeah, he's aiming for even higher.

This episode and arc really took a heavy toll on the raiders. Felt like the emotional impact hit harder than it had ever before. And...Liu Zhigang makes their character appearance! What a tease in the finale. Hell of a season this has been. Second half really picked up the pace and this had a season finale vibe. Better than the previous season imo.

And yeah the only way was to use arise on the s rank healer. The scene where he smiled made me emotional, good guy, RIP. Beru showing his power and Jinwoo saving them again. The raid is finally done, Jinwoo hard carried. Some teasing of next arc and the bigger plot and Jinwoo fighting another red gate, that ending shot was sick.

Really hype season, got to see my fav arc from the manwha animated. Dunno when we'll get more season though.

“Onto the next target” is a really apt title for this Solo Leveling finale. Don’t care what anyone says. This was fire. Feels like we wrapped up one big arc that started with Jinwoo surviving that gate and trying to save his mom, now he stands alone on top the Hunter Ranks and can turn his attention to whoever’s pulling the strings behind all these gates. Bringing back the first OP to end the episode gave me chills too 😩

I enjoyed the hell out of this season. Despite what detractors said, this was very enjoyable, not just production wise, but even the story was good to me. This was all about Jinwoo building up his shadow army, every army needs generals and with Beru now we’ve really got a proper legion that’s as OP as damn near any Hunter around. I’m ngl I couldn’t help but laugh when Jinwoo had Beru’s shadow form take out his own siblings to help the hunters protect the mainland lol. Kinda fucked up.

Jinwoo will absolutely need that army for whoever is pitting the magic beasts against hunters and we got some sort of hint about that with the two magic beasts that came thru the portal πŸ€” who the hell are they, they look and sound extremely humanoid and intelligent. Jinwoo’s dad finally making an appearance again, I need more of him and to find out what he learnt in the other world!

Lmao at Jinwoo being that OP and not being immune to traffic jams tho lol. Getting stuck in traffic and a red gate is pretty much another day in the life for him. That montage with his army rising from the ground was so fucking fire, basically summed up the whole season and how far he’s come.

This episode was really packed, could ramble on and on about it. Cha striving to stand by Jinwoo side, the Japanese S Ranks being reduced to 3 and Jinwoo starting his own guild. So much set up, we need that season 3 announcement asap!

And that’s a wrap. They ended it exactly where part 1 of manhwa ended.

Now they did justice to a lot of things from manhwa in terms of hype and fights. Yes the fights outcomes are predictable but they were still great. Beru got his shine and I am happy to see my favourite shadow here. They delivered and succeeded my expectations in many places. Animation was probably one of the memorable, VA being on point, OST amazing and surprisingly they didn’t lose the storytelling proportion as I will get back to this in my criticism section.

However with all the positives I can remember out of the way… The pacing is still a problem, not saying it is as bad as S1, because that had a problem when they were removing and adding. They didn’t remove a lot from S1, but here is the problem, they removed a lot of panels that weren’t necessary per say. They still removed comedic and moments that I would have loved to see. It felt like they were rushed and it looks that way especially in some episodes, most notable one was episode 3. Some scenes like Sung jinwoo getting criticised for not being there before the jeju island was removed. Another like him hanging with his mother and his mother encouraging him to continue. Like these moments are necessary in some cases but they did replace them with similar ones but the impact is just not as good.

Now my jeju island criticism, they hyped up jeju island for manhwa readers way too much that I think we expected way more. I expected them to give the side characters a shine they hyped when they were adding new scenes in S1. I am not saying they didn’t deliver but they gave expectations that were never going to happen. Something like expecting a kind of bleach tybw arc kinds of additions, but maybe I just expected way too much tbh.

Overall, it’s one of the best seasons not because of storytelling but because it knew what it was and never shyed away from what it was. It accepted it and embraced it perfectly. It’s a popcorn anime done right. However I do believe people will be surprised how complex it will get from here.

Now *spoiler* warning a bit:
Some say it will get worse from here, but in my opinion? No. It does get worse in a certain point but not from here. You will know it when you see it. Some may ask why, and the answer is simple: it gave way too high expectations in storytelling that it was never going to reach. The fights? Actually it will get better lmao. And they showed the villains even if for a brief moment.

What I am expecting them to do: Let the comedic scenes be a thing. Beru’s scenes shouldn’t be removed and that’s my biggest fear. Looking forward next year or whenever it comes back. It is a series that ironically is needed now because of how the community is acting like animes these years should be GOAT, when we all know they will never reach it.

It was a wonderful season, but there were some things that were amiss, more so in the visual direction throughout the season (including the now infamous razor sharp chins), but that is more of a pet peeve rather than any real issues.

I was rather surprised when S2 covered the Jeju Island arc, but then again, you needn't look far to see why everything moves so quickly. The Manhwa has a near-breakneck story pacing, and I guess the anime does as well. It matches the story, and it's good fun, with great action and hype all around. But there's something about S2 that's felt a little too fast. I would've much preferred if the Jeju island is covered in S3 as opposed to having it be fit at the end of S2. That way, we'd get to see more of the Demon King Baran and Esil, the best demon-girl! If A-1 had balls, they could end S2 with the last episode's cliffhanger. It would be a great move to bring over the people to the manhwa, but in the end, they're just trying to cover the whole Part 1 of the manhwa, which made sense.

Not very fond of the massive surge of new audiences that comes with Solo Levelling S1 and S2, to be honest. It brought in so many extremist who either glazes the fuck outta this series or detest them in entirely, me? This was a fun season, no more, no less.

Beru was hype, though. The anime can never match the artistic visuals of the manhwa, but what it lacks in the visual style (if any), it sure made up for it with awesome animation!
Still yet again, they know for a fact that Jeju Island is the massive bomb that'd light up the whole series; all the WN and Manhwa readers are awaiting this adaptation with keen eyes. I can certainly say that due to the hype, the arc was awesome but not as epic as it could've been, which, as I said previously, should've been in S3...

The Japanese hunters pulling out of the raid, just as Jinwoo heard Byung-gu's voice to heal Haein then and there, him respecting his views not to drive him to fighting greatly relieves Yoonho. The remainder of the ants are still a liability, and leaving Jinwoo to clear the remainder of the horde is a nice way to test his skills and level up at the same time, surpassing Level 100 for the first time. The Ant King, now a General Rank, wants Jinwoo to grant a name, which the name Beru finally makes its relevance to assist clearing the huge horde and transport Haein and the others to the mainland safely. For this moment, the 4th Jeju Island raid is completed, in complete victory, but not without the many casualties it brought.

With the raid completed, Jinwoo's position as the S-rank atrocity can now never be ignored on an international level, just as he is allowed to start his own guild under Chairman Go's direction. But to still find normal Gates disguised as Red Gates, it's not a problem for Jinwoo anymore with his new Shadow Monarch army, and for Haein, she has now a target to catch up to.

The anime now bringing Season 1 of the manhwa to a close, and it has succeeded tremendously.
Season 1 is great, but Season 2 is even more phenomenal.

My 15th Winter 2025 anime finished! My god this season was just as amazing as the first or even better. Very rarely do anime sequels live up to the first season or surpass it. Jinwoo is such an OP badass MC. Cool personality. So entertaining watching him come in clutch and save everyone this season. He finally came out and revealed himself to the world too. Solo Leveling is definitely a polarizing series in the anime community, it gets hate for not offering much in terms of storytelling and essentially being carried by hype fights and the internet's new favorite word right now, AURA. But the hype fights is what gets me coming back, I don't need, nor do I expect, this series to offer something new or revolutionary, I go into it knowing it's a power fantasy action show and am satisfied with what it offers as a power fantasy action show. What we got from this season was more or less the same as what we got from season 1, and honestly I'm ok with that because more important than anything, I was fucking entertained. That's all I need and all I can ask for from a show like this.

This finale was a nice little epilogue after the craziness of the previous few episodes. New, badass-looking characters have appeared and the stage has been set for whatever the story is offering next in the eventual and inevitable season 3. I'm looking forward to more. Also, I like how they brought back the S1 OP for the ED, it was great to hear that song again.

Epic choice to end the season off with the banger Op from last year, I was wondering if this'd be the case considering the Listening Party on YouTube started off with this track. And I'm so glad that it did! Who's next and another chilling pose, this show just knows how to aura farm like no other, lol.

Backlash is always going to be inevitable but it's good that he at least had the presence of mind to make sure the necromancy wouldn't be broadcasted to the world, the negative sentiment would've been over the roof otherwise. Liked the extra detail of Cha hunter's resolute message to herself in the end there, I imagine many of the hunters would probably just give up after coming across the aura himself.

No clue who the two non-human characters were lurking in the dungeon there but they seem to be aware of Sung Hunter's presence, how very interesting. And the escaped prisoner!

Very good season overall, and I suppose the general view here on MAL is of labelling this as top tier which is fairly deserved imo. Sound department was obviously great thanks to the God, Sawano Hiroyuki, himself and A-1 Pictures really had their A-game on this one. Looks like that wasn't necessarily the case of Japanese MAL, or Anikore, though. For those interested, you can find S2's page here: https://www.anikore.jp/anime/14801/

I was expecting them to trickle down on Japan's miserable administration in a bid to lessen the negative feedback, but I guess this shows the respect they've and showed for the series which is nice to see from an outsider's POV. Anyways, enough about that. Here's to hoping there was enough buzz and revenue generated to greenlit the third season and more. Rumours were saying up to 5 seasons were confirmed but until there's confirmation from official sources, I will hold back on fully believing that extremely tempting suggestion, lol.

And so we end with some ant cleanup, red gate cleanup and hints of the future.

Another solid season of Solo Leveling. Definitely one of the best shows I watched this season, but I don't have too much new to say about it. The show knows what it is and what it wants to do and does it well. If you like that stuff you'll like this, if you don't you won't. I guess I will say this ant arc was probably my least favorite part of the season. I didn't really like the ant arc much in HunterxHunter and I didn't think here was much better. But I wouldn't go so far as to say it was bad or really hurt the season on the whole. Solid 8/10, I'll watch the next season once we inevitably get it.

That's it, my friends, Solo Leveling is over.

It was so much fun to follow Solo again, I remember when I first saw the Jeju Island arc in the manhwa, it was so incredible, I was like WOW.

Now they're going to enter the final stretch next season, because Solo has 180 chapters of story and they've already adapted more than 100, since they cut a lot of stuff. So I believe that the whole arc of the Monarchs and the fragments of light will end in 3 seasons (maybe divided into two parts).

My final score is 10/10. Solém brothers.

And with that General Beruem finally joins Jin-Woo's shadow army.

Overall I preferred season 2 to season 1; felt like A1 got into its groove and started cooking for what is in my eyes the best spread of chapters in the manhwa. I still would've preferred if they kept a few story beats that they ended up cutting which made the pacing iffy at times in what is already weak storytelling, but overall the pros outweighs the cons.

Excited to see more of Liu and the National hunters in season 3. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for it.

Can't reveal who the 2 that were at the Jeju island were since that would be spoiling, but really excited for the upcoming season, no matter how long it takes for it to come out. It's gonna be full of crazy stuff from start to finish, unlike this season which mainly was building up to the Jeju arc alone. In any case, the season didn't disappoint 1 bit no matter what everyone might be saying, hope the studio will keep the amazing quality as it is for all the upcoming possible seasons!

First of all, hats off to studio A1 pictures

And then, f*ckkkkkkkkkkk!!
there will be no more of this godly animation for another year (I hope not more than that)

<spoiler> I personally think that the manhwa started falling off at this point and I may be disagreed with but that is my opinion. the thing with Il- Hwan and the monarchs and rulers got too complicated for a battle shounen but, it was bearable </spoiler>

~now, I hope beru (and more so Igris) gets plenty of screentime in the future seasons

@ShadowkillZ I'd rather they keep this pace.
The initial plot itself doesn't amount to much. He wanted to save his mother and stay low profile. None of the other characters matter anyway, to the point almost no one talk about them, save for Cha and just because they see her as the top class waifu fit for the MC and Esil mostly because people happened to like her.
This way we can have constant meaningful battles instead of seeing him farming like he was during most of the 100 floor dungeon or even at that final red gate. Even if we know that almost nothing poses a real threat to him, at least action is nice while we hang on that almost.

I agree with you on that it's a fun show riding on great animation. I doubt it'll be a classic years after it finishes, but certainly will be popular every season that releases. But not on that dragging things to S3, there's no need for that big of a cliffhanger, people will be curious anyway to see what lies ahead.

It's finally over.

So, Jinwoo didn't have any skill or items to heal Cha. But Min did. Reviving him and giving him a reunion with Baek was kinda cool. I'm glad he was relieved of being a shadow tho. It would've been merciless to keep a guy who doesn't want to fight.

Wait, Beru can talk? It would've been really cool if the other shadows gained the ability to talk tbh. The banter would've been crazy.

Jinwoo wants to create his own guild. Ig it's the logical next step for someone as skilled and famous as him. I wonder who those two assholes who showed up in the island were. And did they imply that Jinwoo is more like them than humans? Weird.

At this point I think Jinwoo just turns blue gates into red gates. How convenient for him.

Didn't expect them to play the better OP for the ED of this episode. That was cool. Overall, I think I liked Season 1 better, but I still had fun with this season. Wonder when more seasons will come out.
