Which mod is currently on a deletion trip and why? I was suddenly losing 20 posts and even now I'm down from 14999 (this should have been my 15 thousands post after the initial 20 deleted posts) to 14986 with this one. Can you please stop deleting old postings/threads? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards, Noboru edit: also thanks to everyone who has preserved some of the threads. Those Aikatsu! responses need to be designed as MAL forum's intangible cultural heritage! :D |

@149597871 It makes no sense at all to me, given that most threads like the Japanese learning one don't contain anything that would justify the deletion of the whole thread like that. Especially not after it was already locked. Could look into the thread ID and provide it in private if anyone's interested. But come on, I should have enough successors. Let me get back to my 15k and get me some retirement status where I would only continue to post upon request and leave the active posting to my successors. |

They're probably deleting rule-violating topics, instead of just locking them. Also, there are too many snitches around who even report harmless topics. |

Two of my 2024 threads got deleted, alongside about 20 posts. (I didn't check any of my pre-2024 threads). One of the threads was asking a fair question: Why do boys talk about "getting hard", when we all know softness/furriness is what makes the world go around? That thread was locked multiple months ago, so why delete it now? The other one is more dastardly: What do you do when you see anti-feline purropaganda? The thread itself was harmless, so the only reason it could be deleted is because they support the purropaganda! Well lemme tell ya something, buster, next time I see something like this I'm going to burn it to the ground: |

I know I've lost some posts over the years, but I can't say that I've been tracking it like I do with my anime list whenever there are changes. Locking threads would certainly be preferable, as I agree that deleting things is nearly always bad. I know that sometimes advertisers can flag things (even if it's old), so that might be part of it. If you really want to archive a post, I'd recommend either taking screenshots, saving the responses, or using the Web Archive (I've done this for some anime entries before they were deleted). |

@Kwanthemaster Given that the posting number looks is visible on both the profile and the forums, it's much easier imho to track it compared to the Anime or Manga (including Light Novel) list entries. I wouldn't even notice if someone were to delete entries from my list unless some very memorable entries. What's the point of flagging a post or thread that pretty much has no traffic at all? If I recall correctly, there is some hidden board where posts can get restored again which happened once with a football/soccer thread from the past world cup. I've been doing so as well, but only for a smaller amount and buried under other stuff. However, this shouldn't be the standard. btw: it's quite intriguing that they deserve the rights to pretty much do anything with your user content (including PMs), but they don't assume liability. You also understand that we may, from time to time, deploy technology such as application programming interfaces (or “APIs”) for our use or for use by third party application developers (which is further discussed in our Privacy Policy) and you understand and agree that your User Content may be transmitted to and displayed in non-affiliated third party websites or applications that integrate with our APIs. Further, although we do not expressly allow the scraping of or other extraction of data or other material (e.g., media such as screen shots or video screen captures) from our Services without our prior written consent, you understand and agree that your User Content may be collected and displayed as a result of non-affiliated third parties crawling or scraping the Services or as a result of other data or material harvesting techniques. As such, you understand and agree that your User Content may become publicly available outside of the Services. https://myanimelist.net/about/terms_of_use#_Toc17163254 5# and 8# This part also seems golden: You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Users. We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor User activity, including disputes between you and other Users, and to take any action or not take action in a manner and to the extent we deem appropriate to prevent the violation or further violation of these Terms of Use. Company shall have no liability for your interactions with other Users, or for any User's action or inaction. It's one thing to delete more recent threads or postings and another to delete or remove threads that are long in the past. I really wish for more transparency at the very least how and why threads/responses seemingly arbitrarily vanish after a while. |

@Noboru There are sites which track deletions, and I also follow user edits as a regular contributor myself. I don't know if age really matters for advertisers, as I know they can even flag database entries based on their covers. I just can't see the benefit of mods combing through old threads unless someone actually reported them or they have some script, but I guess I'll never know. All sites force you to give up your rights so they're in the clear, you just have to weigh what's likely to happen vs. legalese. |

@149597871 At least one of the mods is a prude who deletes anything even moderately sexual in their view even when it isn't. I also have seen a thread deleted some time back where the OP at the end said "I'm not talking about pedophilia" when trying to be clear on the meaning of what their thread was so it was deleted just for saying a no-no word. There also is some mods who target threads for users talking about their mental illnesses. Even one suicidal user had his thread deleted, he has since never returned when people were trying to help him and who knows what would happened to him if the thread wasn't deleted maybe he would have read it and different outcome whatever that outcome was. |

This oddly familiar one was pretty funny, from the long-off time of... yesterday. Also @Zarutaku, this is a significantly more up-to-date archive link for the thread, since it was on your "Funny Forum Posts" section of your profile when it was still up. |

Ohh yeah, i had like... 1.500, no 15.000! Back in the mid 2000s I would keep track of all my forum posts (on the forums i was active ofc), now idk. Just relax and you will get there eventually (or we will NTHE, whatever happens first) 149597871 said: Rofl the "guy secrets girls don't know about" thread got deleted entirely. LMAO, good. On that note, who are even half these mods? I rarely seen them on the forum interacting with people, except for anime-prime. Most of their posts are just saying the cleaned or locked threads. |

@Daviljoe193 Alright, thanks. It's such a nuisance that we're forced to use such archives to preserve threads. |

@Zarutaku Might as well also share this small one, since you just missed it, and it looks like it'd fit in just fine on your list. |

@Daviljoe193 I love the answer Serafos gave in that thread. Too bad I can't watch the video someone shared in response. |

@Lucifrost This one? I'm excavating the correct one from the archive's HTML, right? |
