| It’s always a surprise when they do a bittersweet wholesome one like this, I still remember the cat episode from the previous season, this one had similar vibes with the married couple being looked over by the bride’s mom, I was waiting for something sinister to occur which seemed possible during the bit where they were looking through the footage, but the only spooky bit was where they realized the mother wasn’t actually in the photos, she was a spirit. And then at the very end when the ghost mom thanked the photographer, man that was sweet, this episode left me feeling happy, not what I signed up for but I gladly welcome it anyway lol. Definitely a favorite of mine this season for sure. |

| Loved it. For starters, I think having episodes like these actually benefit the horror of the other episodes. If you go in every episode expecting misfortunate and devastation then eventually it starts feeling rote. Like for like the first four seasons, basically every episode ended with the protagonist of said episode befalling some terrible fate basically, which started to take away from the show because every episode I basically knew the result from the jump. So when 5 started introducing episodes where people survive, or go for more heartwarming, it makes the horror episodes more effective because the rules have changed. Not every episode is automatic death, and if you start to believe there might be a good outcome for our protagonists, it'll make the bad outcomes a lot more effective when they happen because it's not the 100% guarantee anymore. And personally, I feel Yami Shibai is better at these type of episodes. I'm constantly criticizing the series' attempts at horror in these threads, because I think only Season 1 was consistently good at it. I don't think any episode this season thus far has been remotely scary, like maybe Message Board was close until the weak "jumpscare", and I did also enjoy the last episode but it wasn't even a little scary. Whereas I feel like Yami Shibai usually nails these types of stories. Maybe I'm just a sap, maybe it's just easier to make me cry than to make me scream, but I think basically all the heartwarming/bittersweet ones have worked for me. I wouldn't want the series to ever shift to these stories being the primary focus mind you, as alluded to in the prior paragraphs, part of their effectiveness is that they're packaged with all the horror but yeah, these tend to be my favourites. As for the episode itself, they could've been playing "Baby Love Child" by the Pizzicato Five because these definitely remembers me of a certain Futurama sequence. It's just so sweet to see the mother constantly watching over her child. It wasn't quite "Baby Love Child" but I do think the music was pretty strong, think it really sells the emotions. It's a simple heartwarming story, a bit bittersweet because obviously there's a relationship that was missed, growing up without a mother must've sucked but I do hope they show Misaki the footage so she can see that her mother still loved her. And I really hope the mother doesn't stick around for the honeymoon, that'd be pretty awkward. |

| only episode i voted as loved it. my fvt episode of the show. so wholesome and cute and also sad. she even thanked her friends for being by her side and now showing the footage to hurt misaki's feeling. aw man. *insert this is enough to make a grown man cry meme* |
