Gedouin got exactly what he deserved this episode and that's blown to pieces. About time seriously. Now we don't have to listen to hear his annoying voice again.

Renzo returns to class and made his presence known with his yabbing. I love how Bon hugged him though, and didn't forget who he was. Izumo suffered so much this sesaon so her reaction was natural as well. I think this whole thing was a mix of tense and comedic moments thrown together.

Happy to have Izumo back with the gang, except for Renzo ofc.

Izumo and her team successfully thwart the Illuminati threat, aided by her mother Tamamo. With the Knights of the True Cross taking charge in Inari, the constant turmoil and conflict in the land finally settle. However, Renzo defects to the Illuminati, shocking Suguro's elder brothers, Juzo and Kinzo from the Kyoto Branch. Suguro tries to clarify Renzo's role as a spy to them, only to be confronted with an even more surprising revelation from Juzo.

Goodbye Gedoin. Won't miss you. Renzo as a double agent? Not sure how I feel about that. Kind of disappointed. Feels rushed, like the creators gave in to pressure. Laughed a lot but got confused in the second half of the episode. Mephisto's always mysterious, but it was cool to see his true colors. Renzo seems good, but his actions are odd. Mephisto's outburst was fun. Felt like a season 1 episode overall, especially the sweet classroom scene.

When did Yukio meet Lucifer? That's the question for the finale.

Shima is a double agent yesssss
Yamantaka is a deity in Buddhism
Google translate says that Dominus Liminas means "master thresholds" (Latin)
Nooooo I wanted Gedoin to die more painfully :(
NO WAY HE REALLY JUST WALTZED IN LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED LMAO
I really like Mephisto's character. He's on our side, but he also sees everyone as nothing more than pieces on a board, and is willing to use them any way he sees fit.
Oohhh, that ending! It suggests that Shima might actually be on Illuminati's side, if I got it correctly.

Last episode next. There were leaks that this season will be 3 cours long btw, so there's a chance of a sequel being announced right after it releases. And looking back, this whole season felt like a prologue to a bigger arc, so this is really likely imo.

Izumo is spitting facts and finally Mephisto letting people in on a little bit of his plan ; using them like characters in a tactical RPG.

He does have a point though they've grown but considering what they'll be up against next, I can see why he's frustrated with how they're leveling up progress is going.

one of my least favourite parts of the manga i still remember, we show shima do all those things to izumo and allow what was happening to her mom, for the time he was "bad" he became one of the best antagonists in blue excorcist only for the story to chicken out and say "it was all an act"

The Shima stuff ended up being so unsatisfying for me.
Ok we found out he was double agent but
I would have preferred that Renzo did actually betray everyone. It would have made for a better storyline in trying to find out why.

Cuz it’s still kinda fucked up that he let those things happen to Izumo’s Mum plus that also means he knew Tsukumo was fine and adopted to a good family. Feel like he should have told Izumo where Tsukumo was.
I’m not saying Renzo should have blown his cover but there’s others ways to go about it like hints or something!

Anyway Renzo is back now and everything is fine again!

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t read the manga but watching this episode and finding out Shima was just a double agent was unsatisfying.

I was kinda shock at everything Shima was doing and I was like ‘oh this is gonna be a good storyline to continue after Izumo’s arc’ but nope, they are all good now. He back and everyone is back to being friends, he was just a spy lol

I have to say that this is one of my favorite episodes of the series, by far.

But let's take this episode one step at a time. First of all, what an immense pleasure it is to see Gedoin get a death in which his mediocrity is matched only by his perfidiousness. This one serves as a bridge/end between the excellent Illuminati arc and the next one, namely the exorcist exam and the aomori arc. What's more, the sequel will focus more on the psychology of the characters and the relationships between them, as well as their pasts, rather than on real conflicts (apart from the one between the brothers and Hachirotaro, but that will come much later). And be prepared to discover a very different, unsuspected side to Yukio.
As for this episode in particular, and this is what obviously charmed me, it's the atmosphere to which the series had accustomed us in its early days, notably the 1st episodes of season 1. To our great delight, we find again a mixture of school life, comedy (particularly during the scene in the classroom, I cried with laughter at this scene), but also mystery and conspiracy with dear Pheles. I'm actually quite happy with the adaptation that was made when he "flipped out", as the scene made such an impression on me.

Last episode next week. I'm sorry, but all good things must come to an end. Hopefully, and I believe in them, Voln will announce a sequel, a bit like High Card. One week to go, brothers, let's make the most of it and celebrate the triumphant return of this series.

It seems like Okamura may be in danger. I still don't trust Shima at all. As for Lightning he gives me the stink of someone who knows more than he is letting on. Not that he's a bad guy, just holding it close to the vest.

@IzanaSolos Sugoro is an only child, he doesn't have any siblings. The double agent thing is in the Manga, what were they supposed to do? Some parts of the episode did feel rushed, though.

I guess we'll see the Yukio meeting Lucifer next episode, they have to include it.

If i were one of them i would never ever trust Shima again. He fooled everyone once so who can say that he isn't a triple agent? And the pain Izumo felt back than was real. She had to go through so many things because of Shima, how can she forgive him just like that? I'm not a fan of the series but even i felt her desperation in that facility. People leave marks in our lives with how they make us feel so is it that easy to forget the shock of betrayal, losing Uke and Mike once, being at he mercy of Gedoin, seeing the death of her mother... These all happened because of Shima, how can she forget the pain now?

The double agent reveal feels like such a massive storytelling copout, as if the show was just not willing to commit to all the implications and consequence of Shima's betrayal and so desperately backpedalled on it.

Mind you, I still wouldn't trust him based on the strength of his "act".

This episode was bad, not only Shima being a double agent sounds like a bad excuse to me it also overlooked a really, really bad plothole. Think with me: the Illuminati send Shima to spy the Order. His disguise is discovered, and he had to run as a traitor. If you want to continue spying on the Order you have to send someone different to do it because THEY KNOW that the order discovered that he was a spy. Sending Shima again can only result in 2 things: he could get killed the instant that he appears in the Order because, duh, they know that he is a spy, or you risk that he is a double agent and let the Order knows your secrets... Seriously that was just dumb.

all these years never finishing this arc i went on to believe shima was actually evil but turns out he was a double agent...which has left me conflicted on how i feel with both sides "not trusting" him leaves room for some kind of turn of events but it sure did feel like a cop out on the heavy weight of him turning sides

Forgot that cockroach Gedoin was still alive...Glad he got obliterated by Lucifer, finally.

Welp, Shima's reveal reveal was somewhat anticlimactic. Things won't be the same it used to be, I guess. Anyone believe the Illuminati actually believes he's a spy?

Hurts to know that Yukio is fighting his own battle and is suffering a lot. Hope he gets some help soon... The problem with Yuki is that his body may be used as a vessel for Satan or something? If not, why is he at risk?

Aww, Rin as Shima was really cute haha.

I’m glad our guy Shima was on our side all along. Being a double spy is pretty risky work, I’m hoping he won’t get caught up.

Was hoping for more reveals from Mephisto but we got enough.

@Stormy_77

To me Shima seems to support noone but himself. He doesn't seem to care which side is winning and what they're doing with the info he gathers. As long as his safety is secured he's content. He's more of a neutral link between the two sides rather than spy because I think both sides don't trust him and it works well for him too. He likes to be a pawn because he doesn't have to take responsibility. It doesn't mean he's a total jerk tho - he did come back to Konekomaru and spared the foxes.

It's just personal speculation as I haven't read manga past this season.

@Hyusho Anime only so no clue about the manga, but my only surprise is how they can even think about trusting him after the stuff he pulled this season. He might be self serving, but IDK how I'd deal with him if he were one of the tight knit team of classmates.

They reveal Shima is actually double spy this early is kinda killjoy... I knew shima is still not truly heartless when he actually let izumo foxes alive... But didn't actually realized he's actually a double agent... But is the Illuminati actually trust Shima? Pretty sure his family love Shima... And I'm pretty sure Shima also love his family... Theirs no way Illuminati doesn't know that... Wonder why Yukio face look so pissed when Shima mentioned Lucifer's name...
It's funny when Takara got kicked out with others while Yukio and Shima kept inside the room... It's like Takara is no longer need. Lol..
