Ah yes, Muichirou and his past. A part of his life was with his father and the fact that he once again experiences those memories shows that he never forgot about his past.

Similar to other tragedies, Muichirou experienced his own dark moments and it wasn't a pretty sight. On the plus side, it's great that he was able to use his full power when they needed it the most.

We finally got to see Muichiro's backstory and it was pretty sad to see things turning out that way. His big brother was definitely going through tough times, and so did Muichiro but his brother was much more emotional in that sense. Felt quite bad for them. And, how they both got attacked by that demon. In progress, Muichiro loses his brother as well. That was very tragic.

And, then the last few minutes were pure action animation by the staff. Lasted only for a small time but it did what it was supposed to do. A strong episode.

About time Muichiro gets over with his underwater course, I mean that thing kinda overstayed. Though for what came after that, was the backstory of his, when he used to look like a cute little girl tiny feeble boy. Again someone who lost his family at a young age, and was left with his brother all alone.. a twin brother. That brother might be harsh with his words, but it doesn’t take much in this series to lose people dear to you.

Indeed, one night a demon came and attacked the brothers. Being the harsh but caring twin brother Yuuichiro was, he took the attack and died in the process. Though for how that demon was taken care of, they told us Muichiro went blur and did everything. That’s for his backstory, the typical KnY style. Jumping back to the present, of course these flashbacks helped him get on his feet.

Muichiro is already taking on Gyokko all alone, and well he for the most part has the upper hand, whether it be against tentacles or the CGI fishes. The animation in later stages was freaking amazing, though for the rest of this fight and conclusion, we’ll have to wait for the next episode. Again only a 2 chapter episode I guess.

A full Muichiro’s backstory episode, except that last few minutes.

At this point, I don’t think we will ever get a backstory without a demon barging in someone’s home and slaughtering a character’s family lmao. Gotta say, it was quite emotional. A dead mother, twin and father. Muichiro really went through it, which explains why he’s the way he’s now. Poor boy got traumatized after seeing his brother’s rotten corpse next to him.

Last few minutes went very hard with Abe’s cut. Direction was on point was once also. Next episode a full Muochiro versus Gyokko fight.
Can’t wait, it’s gonna be a banger if it’s gonna be 20 minutes of what the last scene of this episode looked like. Muichiro being marked was so hype.

The scene in the kitchen between the twins in particular was hard/sad to watch.

Muichiro backstory took most of the episode since, like Genya's, they added some parts to flesh it out a little more. We got ourselves another character who lost his family at a young age. Not all exclusively to demons like Genya and Tanjiro, but a demon did contribute to taking away Muichiro's last surviving family member. Yuichiro may have been harsh on his younger twin but his dying words showed that he still cared for him and loved him a lot.

I thought the entire episode was going to be backstory, but thankfully we got back to the current fight for the final several minutes. Muichiro got "the mark" and started going off (and yes, the mark on his face will be explained later). Boy, the staff did Muichiro's Mist Breathing justice. There's only so much the manga can do to convey what's going on with still images, so I love how the anime shows how these techniques are used. Once we get into full-fledged action next episode, I'm expecting it to be like those last few minutes on steroids.

Looked at the animators and knew we were in for a treat. Mostly backstory but the final moments were pure hype. Can't wait for the final 3 episodes now. I guess it's all out action now.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

my thoughts precisely, I do enjoy demon slayer during its climax but it is getting very difficult to sit through an extremely repetitive and generic story its more of a chore for me atp even the animation cant save it for me anymore

It wasn´t as exciting as the episodes before but Muichiro fans are gonna love it. I have personally not found Muichiro too fascinating, but of course he is a kid with a sad story so I give him that. I also understand exactly why they are doing what they are doing, but oh well. In the end of the day, he is a sweet kid and I am happy to see him remember things.

The best thing about this episode was just how much they highlighted the work of swordsmiths. not only Haganezuka but Muichiro´s master also showed the immense understanding of the swordsman. Almost as he was a bit of a family figure to him.

I actually have to think a lot to understand the meaning of this episode. At first the episode mislead me into thinking that the aggresive brother who died has unkind heart, while the submissive brother who survive has kind heart, but it's revealed in the end that the aggresive brother who died actually has kinder heart, he's the one that rush to protect the submissive brother and suddenly lose his arm, and even when he's dying, he's still praying to God to keep protecting his brother. And he's actually crying a lot too!

Muichirou's past was really saddening to see, to see him lose his both parents and as well as his brother. Muichirou did get stronger though by remembering things, he can now use 5 breathing techniques. It will be interesting to see where this will lead to.

This episode was mainly focused on Muichirou and his past, the battle scenes were nice though and it looks like it will take a lot more to beat the demon once and for all.

Wow. All the Hashiras have such sad backstories. But we learn a lot about Muichiro in this episode. His family. His brother. His previous swordsmith. Finally, Muichiro's recovered some of his memories and regained his composure. And now he's like Tanjiro with those marks on his face. Those last scenes with Mist Breathing were sick.

If anything the water pot plus the poisoned needle really made for quite the powerful trap. Losing both of his parents so suddenly really was harsh for Tokito. One hell of a rage that Tokito had back when he needed it the most. But it was tragic seeing him lose his bro like that. But Tokito's reignited determination really is proving his worth in his counterattack against his opponent.

The "mu" (無) in "Muichiro" (無一郎) literally means "nothingness, none, not"
The "yu" (有) in "Yuichiro" (有一郎) literally means "have, exist"

The animation is as gorgeous as ever.
The end was a bit confusing though, I know that it's Muichiro we're following right now, but the monologue is from Yuichiro's perspective for some reason.
And where is Mitsuri lol

As be an MC goes, I wonder how many characters can check the box " Have my family killed by the history villain group."

If had Lady Amane scene where she successfully recruited Muichiro would be as funny as would be sad.

Haganezuka still rubb...honing the sword.

Muichiro got his mark. Cool!

One of the best episodes of Demon Slayer, the visuals, soundtrack, animation, all of that. And Muichiro backstory was sad as hell, that his mother died cause of the cold, his father died trying to get the flowers, but accidentally fall of the Clift, and his brother Yurichrio got killed by the demon was traumatizing.

Seeing his older brother killed by the demon in front of muichiro eyes was sad and tragic. He just literally went through that after his whole family is killed.

That's why he became so emotionless and mind blank because of that.

The way muichiro unlocked the Demon slayer mark was unbelievable and surprising. NO other demon slayers could do that, especially tanjiro, which has unlocked the mark since last season.

The last few minutes of this episode was fire, muichiro going crazy when fighting the upper 5
with the mark unlocked.

And nonetheless, Muichiro became my favorite character this series

Well the pace from here on out will be good/great unlike last episodes which were just okay/good rarely. But atleast we are out of it even the arcs after this, we will be eating good from now on.

So looking forward to how they will treat it, but from the looks of this episode alone, I shouldn’t be worried.

I hate flashbacks. I know they are important to build-up a character's story, to make audience more sympathize with them but I can't help it, I hate them.
Yes, now I more understand Muichiro but I would much more prefer it the other way. Now here we have a very fierce action battle and all in a sudden we are pulled-out from the action and thrown to the past in order to learn more about the character. Wouldn't it be better to make a story the proper way, where we have an introduction - we learn about the characters and their stories, then the plot movest to the core theme - action - it lasts through couple episodes when the plot enters the last part - the closing and then ending.
I don't know, maybe I am a simple guy, but I really hate flashbacks

Finally a great episode. Beautiful art, animation, backstory all in one. Decent fight as well, but not great. It was mostly Muchiro unlocking his demon slayer mark and low diffing upper moon 5. But yes, Muichiro is the first demon slayer to solo an upper demon in hundreds of years. Quite the accomplishment at his young age. Muzan will be seething.

I guess love hashira will come in time to assist Tanjiro, Nezuko and Genya.

Nah that would be too hard to do apparently. But yeah, just talk about it through dialogue and interacting with each other so the characters, not just audiance no each other better and bond more.

Muichiro getting his shine! We see a full dive into his backstory this episode. After he finally broke out of the water prison pot Muichiro going to save Kotetsu gets a rush of memories. Remembering his family, their mother getting horribly sick so their father went to get some herbs for her only to die himself falling off that cliff. Leaving Muichiro all alone with his older twin brother Yuichiro. Who's not exactly the nicest guy but he has his reasons for that. Saying that only chosen ones can love carefree lives like Muichiro wants. The younger brother wanting them to be swordsman after the demon slayer master's wife came to tell of their ancestry being related to the first sun breathing user. Yuichiro yelling at Muichiro was tough to see but it makes sense, he wanted to protect his younger brother from the cruel world out there that already took their mother and father. Its funny them being twins but having the complete opposite reactions to their parents deaths, one hardening and the other softening.

Leading to that fateful hot summer night of a demon walking right into their house. Yuichiro trying to defend his brother only to have his arm chopped off. Absolutely tough to watch as Muichiro tried to carry his brother to safety. Muichiro unleashing that blood curdling scream and obliterating the demon even without a nichirin blade. Pinning it down with rocks and wood until the sun came up. Seeing Muichiro crawling back to his injured brother was so sad. Yuichiro finally properly explaining what Muichiro name means infinity.

The action after the flashbacks looked so good! The animation turned up with Muichiro using his mist breathing. Absolutely crazy shots as Muichiro finally started to get close to cutting off Gyokko head. Those octopus arms breaking his chipped sword only for Muichiro to use the new sword Kanamori made for him. Which looked awesome with that blue tint. Muichiro having the demon marks on him like Tanjiro does as the battle intensified. Gyokko being put on the back foot as Muichiro is catching up in speed.

Amazing how Muchiro went from F to S rank in one episode. From almost being solod by an upper rank  with single blood demon art to make him look like some minor villain. But shit get serious now that Gyokko will finally (probably?)  get some flashback and show  us his final form.
