It amazes me how nowadays kids in the 6th and 7th grade are 'dating'. What does everyone think is an appropriate age to start dating or is it all based on maturity?

As far as I know kids to some extent have always been "dating" in Middle School or hell, even elementary school but ... well this is put in quotation marks because it usually doesn't constitute dating but rather is more about imitating what they see adults do (both in real life or on TV) ... I think its actually fine for them to mock date as younger children cause at the very least they get real world experience about certain aspects of dating (spending more time with just one individual, actual dating, what you like/dislike in people, etc.) however if real dating is considered to be going out w/ someone w/ the intent of marriage or love than yes, you could say this is just mock dating ...

But I think it isn't too big of a deal, in fact its entirely "meh" in my opinion, people probably would argue "its dangerous! It encourages sex at younger and younger ages!, will it stop w/ first graders having sex?!?!" but they totally forgot one hug fact ... Puberty ... And so what if younger kids (middle schoolers and up) have sex, I certainly don't wanna know about it, but as long as they learn how to use protection it is quite literally their own fucking business, in all regards of dating I think you can't be told "your too young" ...

I first noticed people my own age "dating" at 10 years old..

I do not see it as a problem since despite popular claim, kids can actually know what they are doing.
sexual incest in nisomonogatari - no one bats an eye
romance incest in SAO - everyone loses their minds

Kids date in the playground, they're not really dating they're just playing around and pretending to be all grown up, so they can talk about break ups and romances as if they actually know what's going on - call it the Hollywood/Justin Beiber effect.

It's like when little kids play house - slightly older kids decide they're going to play bf-gf lol. It's stupid, but it's they're childhood let them do what they want unless they're popping out teen pregnancies but trust me that's never what happens ..although having said that I was in an incredibly posh school back then so teen pregnancies just weren't on the agenda. XD

The Little Kiddies-( ages Kindergarten through 6th Grade)- They see it on Hannah Montana

The Young Folk-( 6th-freshman year)- They think they will get the supposed "popular" if they doo.

The Grand years-(Freshman-Seniors)-Some actually want to date because they like them, and others because they're insecure..

Want to be Grownups/ Growups( COLLEGE-Grandmas)- Either for money, or actually like the person.

Think for High school and up (maybe even middle school but call those early bloomers) they might wanna date for sex too ... Money / Love are nice and all, but sex is just as big.

LOL
Kids are people but we have to remember that their brains are under developed. They dont have as much emotional, reasoning and problem solving strength as adult brains so they are more prone to making bigger mistakes. I think its alright to protect your children enough so that they dont make large mistakes but let them have enough freedom so that they make and learn from their smaller mistakes.

Also, I know a couple who were 3 grades higher than me that started dating in 5th grade? They broke off like twice, but always got back together eventually. He proposed last year, getting married in two months. You can date whenever you like, it doesn't matter.

Kids these days are weak, they rather jump off [insert structure or very high terrain here] after a breakup instead of expressing their heartbreak to someone they love and/or trust, bad idea.

I see it as natural selection: the smart ones won't do that, so all's well in the end.

The problem is, that it's doing it's job a little bit too well and a little education would do them a big favor and prevent some of the pointless suicides.

I didn't consider the cowardly part of the "younger" population.

If they can't handle a silly breakup they have no business dating.

I have seen toddlers playing house where they are mom and dad ... doesn't that go a step farther than dating? Your logic is kind of ... well ... flawed, and very much so.

It bothers me a little, but it's a rather trivial matter that I don't devote any energy to.

Maybe if they had sex at like 12, but that's a whole 'nother topic altogether.

If that's true, then uh, o_o I never even knew about sex until fifth grade. At least they're too young to conceive a baby yet.

mte. Save for my younger brother, I don't really care what other kids do.
