SINCE There's no option to search through the forums, or it's just me not being able to find it:

Do you guys believe that the world will end in 2012 (Because of Nibiru, Comet Elenin etc.)?
I think it's total nonsense and I do not believe in it, but I DO think it's interesting. For the people who don't know what Nibiru is: Link to Wikipedia

Also, here's an Astrobiologist answering a 2012 question: Link

What do you guys think?

"...the ability to receive messages from extra-terrestrials from the Zeta Reticuli star system through an implant in her brain."

I think this is all that needs to be stated. Anyone voting yes is obviously trolling.

I never believed people saying they saw aliens or whatever, leave alone brainwaves/getting messages from one. I DO believe in aliens but not in people running around broadcasting they saw one.

Why post if you think this is BS, I also think it's BS but I'd like to discuss it. There are some people who DO believe in it you know. I'd like to prove them wrong.

For the sake of not trolling this thread, I'll add my two cents to the bucket.

In my opinion, the only way that the world is going to be damaged beyond repair, is by humans and their antics. Pollution, blah blah blah. Stuff that's already going down. Big ass meteors raining down from space while every natural disaster known to mankind is occuring, seems a bit out there, no?

Besides, the world has already ended plenty of times. We're all just dead and don't know it yet.

I agree with most of this, the world ought to end in 1990, 2000, 2004. And now it's 2012, obviously a hoax. Some people also think that "Comet Elenin" orsomething had passed earth too close which caused the earthquakes in Japan.

While it's known that earthquakes are caused from below Earth.

to those 3 people that voted yes

WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WASTING TIME HERE IF YOU THINK YOUR ONLY LIVING FOR ANOTHER YEAR

as for my answer, no, simple because it never said it was ending, the mayan calendar ended without any mention of anything, people seem to forget the mayans died out at one point so obviously the calendar was gonna end

Really though, I'd assume most people that believe in it are either so retarded they wont be able to make a coherent explanation of their position, or they are too ashamed to comment. I still have not interacted with even one person that seriously believes this, IRL or online.
Still, creationists exist, so obviously there's no reason even people believing in this should not exist.

Although, being the internet, we should logically assume anyone claiming to believe in something as seriously retarded as this are mere trolls.

Well, it being my namesake, I guess I should comment. No, I don't think the world will end in 2012, and I don't care about Nibiru and etc. (So I voted "no.")

My interest in 2012 relies on the concept of sacred time, and that history is cyclical instead of linear. The Maya never said that 2012 is the end of the world, and if you go to a modern Mayan shaman they will tell you that the calendar will just start over. And this is what 2012 is all about: it marks the end of the longest time cycle in the Mayan religious calendar; it is the ending of a cosmic Age and the beginning of a new one. It marks a time of change and transformation, not death or some absolute end.

Do I think anything will happen on the winter solstice of 2012? I don't know, but it's fun to hope so. I won't be crushed if nothing interesting happens. Actually, I don't think anything noticeable will happen. Even if the Maya are right, a shift in Ages that run thousands of years isn't likely to be some drastic overnight thing. ...Well, to be fair, Maya myths about the endings of previous Ages are accompanied by cataclysms that wipe out the civilizations of that Age, hehe... But I think it would be a subtle and gradual process running in the background of our consciousness.

The whole 2012 thing doesn't affect my behavior or what I plan to do with my life. If something drastic does happen, well, that'd be fun too. I'd be pretty pissed if anything happens to prevent me from reading the ending of my ongoing favorite manga series, though! XD

If I had a dime for every religious prophecy that has yet to come true. If every single religion/cult in the world had a calender that pointed to this time, I would give it some consideration. The world is more likely to end in the year 2750-3000 CE when the world has been stripped of all its resources, and humans have likely all but left.

It's not really a prophecy, just a calendar Age shift... not an end of the world, so I doubt there'd be something very exciting to test the "prophecy" against. And I think I've seen several different sources point to 2012, but it's not like that's proof of anything, so I haven't bothered to keep track.

I voted Yes for the sake of voting yes you know cause its fun to do that.

If you look into Christianity prophecy there is no set date of the world's end only the Christians are putting dates for some weird reason. Jesus himself said that "Only the Fathers knows the end" or something like that.

Anyways even with the "overpopulation" myth just look into the world we have plenty enough spaces in this world to put people in. Its just a matter of humanity being smart and resourceful instead of people wanting to cramp themselves over a city...

I'll begin to panic if 5 million babies began drowning because of lack of space and we have no where to put them but the sea.

Ohhhh what am I saying? Did I just rant? lolz
