I think it's pretty normal.

I mean, if a character is drawn to look attractive, and people are attracted to it...that's, well, exactly what it's meant to do.

@GlennMagusHarvey i do think its normal too but some people call being attracted to anime characters as weird or abnormal since to them its just drawings

I think nobody can really deny that fictional things and characters can be sexually attractive. That's just how our brain works.

It gets "weird or abnormal" the moment you start to treat this sexual attraction the same you would treat a real human being and the feelings he/she evokes in you. As some Anime Fans like to do. "2D gIrLS aRE bEtTeR!"

My reply would be to ask said "some people" whether they partake of porn.

If they say "but those are realistic", I'd then reply that they certainly are not, for multiple reasons, and the audience isn't even being aroused by an actual partner anyway, which reveals that it's all in their imagination.

Fictional characters are a representation: your poll has no sense, you can't measure it. If I go and watch hentai, of course, I'll be sexually attracted (depending on the hentai quality). Men are biologically wired to physical attraction while women aren't though.

I appreciate the reference. But for grammar sake let's quote fully "2D girls are better than 3D girls"

@Eldinis

Thanks for your wisdom^^

But I don't think it's a male only thing.
Saying that women aren't "wired" to feel physical attraction is a weird and wrong thing to say.

Since we're helping each other out:
Insert the word "less", as in >Less wired to feel physical attraction than men< and you might have a mildly interesting take there. 😁

Fictosexual means exclusively attracted to fictional characters, so for most of us this will be 0%.

It's only in case of animated characters (anime or cartoon). I think it's 75% or often. I'm not attracted to real actresses in live-action movies or shows (horniness doesn't count as attraction imo). I'd say I'm more demisexual when it comes to real people. However I'm not part of "2d is better than 3d", that doesn't make sense to me. The statement is somewhat true, because it's by design, but 2d girls aren't real at the end of the day.

There's a ton of fictional characters I'm attracted to, from basically every type of media, but I don't consider myself "fictosexual", since I still find real women attractive as well. That said, I don't think it's weird to say there are characters I find more attractive than real women, because a lot of them are made to look practically perfect. Especially if they aren't modeled after an actual person.

There's a guy I watch on Youtube that once said that he doesn't find fictional characters attractive because he doesn't see them as real people. And while he's right, they aren't real, I call bullshit on anyone who says anything like that. They still have the form of a human. If you find the human form attractive, I don't see how that wouldn't translate to something that resembles a human.

But, if you want to know my exact personal stance on this; I think being attracted to fictional characters is fine, but only being attracted to fictional characters isn't a good thing in the long run imo. I genuinely can't see how it's good for your mental health to only want to be with something that's literally impossible to actually bond with. Just look at those people addicted to chatbots.

it's normal to me, i've had crushes on fictional characters since i was a kid
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

@deg What would that mean being 100% attracted? does it mean every character you see arouses you, or every character that arouses you does it immediately?

@Eldinis 100% or always just means youre exclusively attracted to fictional characters and youre the embodiment of "2d is better than 3d"

@deg I see it clearer now. I guess I'm equally attracted to both.

My hikikomori justice doesn't discriminate the four states: physical-real, physical-fictional, digital-real, digital-fictional.

Partly, I find fictional personalities more attractive, but looks-wise I feel more attracted to real people.

For gooning I usually imagine real girls, but with a more or less different personality.

There's nothing wrong with finding fictional characters attractive, but imo, you have to separate fiction from reality.

0%, that's just weird. 75% - 100% reminds me of those people who marry a doll or an anime body pillow.

I think what you're asking is what percent of our gooning sessions are to anime girls vs. humans. And for me that has been 100% for at least the past couple years.

I’m attracted to the humanity anime characters display that real people keep forgetting to show.
If someone for example Ayase_seiko cooks a warm meal for a stranger, even if it's a youkai or alien, I’m not lusting, I’m admiring the kindness.

This is also the normal part, because that's the point of these characters.
Perfect body, perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect personality - or the imperfection is part of their perfectness, the reason people like them.

That's why many people even in relationship, daydream about these characters. And that's not just anime, it can be a character from a book. The fictional characters' perfection cannot match reality, because reality isn't perfect. That's why we have escapism as well.

100%, real life people don't interest me in the slightest then again even with anime characters I don't like imagining or looking at lewd stuff. I don't really care about labels so I don't have any opinion about fictosexual.

I don't think that it's the point.
Daydreaming is fine. Watching some hot Anime girl is fine.

Confusing it with real life? Nah, that's too much.
Use it as escapism, sure. But don't replace real life with it.
