Another really emotional episode, once again, Kuma is going straight to Egghead to save Bonney. Vegapunk probably left some humanity in Kuma in secret, something like a split personality, like he mentioned before; he seems to have also removed Kuma's self-destruct mechanism in Kuma's body. This episode is adapted so well. It adapts more than the usual one chapter. It shows Kuma's epic Haki-infused punch onto Saturn, all the emotions, pain, suffering, rage after countless decades are shaped into one fist.
The episode begins without the opening song, something that is unique. Bonney was seen crying after discovering the truth about her father. Bonney went and hugged Vegapunk, thanking him; truly a beautiful moment. Vegapunk gives Bonney a necklace from Kuma that looks like a sun. Vegapunk explains what happens to Bonney while she was reading Kuma's memories. The Seraphime ran while York was the traitor, Vegapunk was captured, but was saved the Robin, another epic moment from Robin.
Back to the present, Bonney is still being held by Saturn and is about to be executed by the high-ranking marines on Saturn's orders. Bonney tries to imagine Nika again and transform like she did in the past, but her transformation isn't complete. Saturn is scared of Nika for a moment, but then realises Bonney doubted Nika's existence as she doesn't know what he truly looks like. Saturn explains the Age-Age fruit has the power not only to change the age of objects, but also can transform the user into whatever future they imagine. He reveals that he gave Bonney this power from an experiment without directly feeding the fruit to her. He admits that he conducted experiments on Ginny and made her develop Sapphire scales. He is the mastermind behind the tragedies that have destroyed Kuma’s life and devastated his family. Outraged, both Vegapunk and Bonney confront him, enraged by his merciless cruelty and evil actions. Saturn coldly defends his deeds, stating that if Vegapunk were in his position, he wouldn't comprehend the suffering of the "insects" he stepped on—revealing a mindset so cruel and detached that he appears irredeemably evil. When all hope seems lost, Luffy is having a feast as someone gave him a pile of food. Saturn orders the marines to handcuff him in sea prism stones. Everyone is stuck because of Saturn's powers; Kizaru likely decides to help Luffy because he knows that he is Nika. Kizaru is also badly injured and barely able to move after getting clocked by Luffy's Star Gun attack. Kizaruis worried about Bonney and Sentomaru. Was it Kizaru helping Luffy, or was it Luffy himself?
Kuma flying right onto Egghead just in time, using his laser beam to defeat the marines in his path. When the high-ranking marines are about to shoot Bonney and capture Luffy, Kuma's laser beam comes in clutch to save them. Kuma uses his body to stop Saturn from stomping Bonney to death; Kuma even still has the strength and willpower to grab onto Saturn's legs. Saturn is trembling in fear in front of Kuma, thinking he should be dead because he pressed the self-destruct button after the revolutionary army saved him. Kuma's epic punch is animated in black and white just like how Luffy punched that celestial dragon back in Sabaody. This scene is so well animated, with the music, flashback, delivering all the anger into one punch against the oppressors. Kuma's powerful punch flattens Saturn's head and sends him flying into the buildings, where his body gets disintegrated by the lasers and electricity, truly a satisfying moment. The opening song plays for the end credits, a spectacular episode, from the animations, directions, music, voice acting, as always, Oda delivers. |
