I didn't know having a Gyaru MC is controversial. I guess that's why Jinx is now purple. The West will never surprise with their ideological assertion

I mean, it wouldn't be something controversial if many anime fans were not so oversensitive about any forms of being rude towards women or hurting them by men, but were completely okay if it's the opposite (a woman is rude towards a man or hurts him).

Check out how some people went ape after seeing a cartoon for rather mature viewers (due to violence, blood and some ecchi stuff happening here or there), called "Goblin Slayer", simply because this anime had one scene with goblins raping kidnapped women; a scene thst was to show how vile and ruthless creatures the goblins are and how it's not a bad thing to hate them.

So it's either to leave ideology behind and just watch the show (I opt for this option), or try to mix your political and ethical ideas with an anime whose plot is not connected to any of these (political and ethical beliefs of any sort). Sadly, the latter seems to be more and more popular among anime fans.

I’ve not seen a single person complain about the anime in like a “this is problematic” sort of way. It’s mostly just been people saying it looks boring.

These topics better stop once the show airs. Because the way it looks now, people enjoy complaining about other peoples complaints more than they enjoy the actual anime.

@EmmyMoomin, while I dunno if I'm gonna watch this show myself, I don't want to see it being framed as "a very bad anime promoting toxic content" just because somebody was triggered somehow by its concept.

She isn't She's a reserve member of the swim team and does a lot of outdoor running, so she has a tan.
The people who try to drum up these "controversies" never actually read the source material, so they make dumb shit up.

Like I just said. No one is saying anything like that. And if they are then they certainly haven’t made enough impact. For anyone to give it the time of day. If some losers calling an anime bad offends you then maybe you need to get thicker skin. I don’t let it bother me, because at the end of the day they’re the ones unhappy. Not me. I get to enjoy something they didn’t.

This right here. I'd also add that the people drumming up controversies were likely never going to watch or read the shit they're whining about to begin with.

Just a bunch of virtue signaling for a nonexistent "offended" group.
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu has hardly any range as a voice actor, and is grossly over-cast.

Yeah. I said it.

Redo was kinda bad but it aired anyways. Who cares if some people find it bad and controversial; I was planning on watching it and I will be watching it.

1. She is not a gyaru.
2. There is no controversy.

I have seen maybe a couple tweets that were about a different issue, that's about it.
Nothing about this anime is controversial so far.

THANK YOU holy shit. What is up with certain anime fans blaming everything on "the west" like...I sense very massive strawman energy.... this comes off as just manufactured outrage from conservative anime fans for no reason other than "why is a non-white person in my anime????".

"The west" is usually just an inconsistent umbrella term people use to dodge the total lack of substance or coherence in their arguments. People, especially reactionary anime fans, talk about Japan in a bubble as if America (and other "Western" countries) haven't exerted massive influence on the nation for the last 75 years lmao. People like the OP love to act as though some kind of anime covenant has been breached by the insane twitter-leftist-socialist-SJW industrial complex, and that it is his duty to raise concerns of worrying trends he sees in his japanese animations.

Hair color doesn't mean shit. Gyaru is fashion style which often mean hair dyed to blond, pink or mulitple colors but there are black haired gyaru pics on boorus (and in real life). Being tanned also isn't mandatory for that style.

of course there are black haired gyaru irl, but anime -- and especially manga since they're in black and white -- like to portray characters on the stereotypical side of things and gyaru are no exception

Her being tan was the controversy, as if that should be racist in itself or something, can't make sense of stupidity.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Exactly, she's delinquent-ish who keeps company with some gyuaru-like types since gyaru look in school is rebellious, so it's in similar circles.
Basically her whole circle is rebelliously far from Japanese ideal prim and proper Yamado Nadeshiko, which can but doesn't have to express in gyaru or delinquent style.

There's not a single non-while character in the entire anime, though: she's tanned. THIS is the controversy; people like you getting triggered by her tan and calling others racist/pedo.
Humans are suspicious and jealous creatures. When they see something perfect, they wanna find a flaw.
