Pretty chill episode.

Off the court, we see a kid getting help with basketball. Everyone has to start off with someone. Back on the court, they still got the match going which is probably the last one for this season.

Very surprised and puzzled by the fact that they really wanted to already reach the "duel" in that episode. But anyway, I have already said that this adaptation is story-boarded by drunk people.

On another matter, regarding the title, I precise again for people (watching the "english" version) who might surprised that the episode was focused on Yozan, to look carefully how things were written. "Ahiru" was written "家鴨" instead of "あひる" like in the main title. So it was a "wordplay" refering to Yozan and his flightless quote, not really Sora (even though Sora is part of the wordplay).

Anyway, I love Yozan character. And always happy to see Yuka character how she mistook Yozan for a girl like many people (including me) at first. XD

The big Yozan episode!! Oh my God can that dude play. makes you wonder why he's not even on The Taiei bench let alone starting. Yozan seems to fit right into their starting lineup with ease. Those passes he was making to Hyou and the other team members, wow they were some intuitive passes and quick thinking. He really is like an evolved form of Sora. Learned a whole lot from Yuka is seems too. The flashback scenes were very sweet. After her death a while back I didn't think we'd get to see her much again if at all. So this episode was a real treat there. Yuka going to teach at Yozan school when he was little. showing him that yeah size does effect how you play basketball but there's no sort of size requirements or anything like that. Yozan perfecting that two handed shoot style Yuka showed him. The same one that Sora is trying to master himself right now. Yozan although being the same age and having learned from Yuka instead of inheriting it like Sora seems to be at ahead in his development. Jumping down from the railing was reckless but damn he's backed it up so far. He's a totally different kind of point guard than Kuzu ha faced so far. Chiaki and Sora don't have time to adjust to this new style Taiei is whipping out with Yozan running point.

Fresh blood entered the battlefield : even Sora was kind to do that, it'll place his team in trouble since the newcomer isn't a total newbie.

Well and for the first half it looked realy nice, but i didn't like this episode. What Ahiru no sora had it's real basketball environment. But when last player of the bench is playing top level basketball is a bit too much. Well he is on the top level team, but still how the heck he's capable of so much? And if he is, why coach never saw that coming? As a basketball player myself, if coach doesn't see such potential in a player to at least put him on the bench, he should stop coaching.

Seems like Yozan's an upgraded version of Sora and he still is not even in Taei's bench huh, that's rough. Also lmao wtf was that, jumping from second floor and he's unscathed WOW.

Someone needs to tell the author that ducks are actually some of the most competent flying birds that exist...Some of them are top 10 in term so of straight flying speed.

So in 50 episodes, they will have only played a single official game?

What's "funny'" is that while people focused (rightfully) on Yozan in that episode, there are other things showing that Taiei would have anyway being tougher in that last quarter:

- Kuzuryu last stint was mainly Chiaki dependent and the team (especially Sei) has clearly decided to not let themselves surprised by him anymore (illustrated by how they assaulted him and Sei stealing the ball

- in the previous episode, after Momoharu's dunk, Yakuma asked to let him defend on him and in that episode he already showed that he's determined to nullify Momoharu rebounding presence

Their only ray oh hopewas/ is Toby as Fuwa was/is still struggling with him. But continuing what they did at the end of the third quarter was already a tough challenge. Yozan or not. Let's not forget that none of their "competent" players rested (Sei for isntance, rested abit on the bench, etc.)

Thought Youzan went suicidal for a moment there but he only wanted to make a cool anime entrance. Fucking lost it when his teammate tried to do the same but ended up failing miserably xD

Well, the idea of getting closer in points looked promising but Sora decided to screw his team a bit more by letting their opponent include a new fresh player. Not gonna lie, I like Youzan and the way how his character was presented but what Sora did was completely stupid.

Does anyone else get the vibe that Sora's mother taught Yozan more than Sora? It rubs me the wrong way that (at least from my impression) Sora wasn't given as much guidance and now it's taking a toll on him when you're comparing him and Yozan.

I was already wondering how Youzan would make it into the match, admittedly, the author could've chosen a more elegant way, but it did the job.

I liked the mini flashback for him, tho.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

When Sora said he regretted not learning the basics from his mum, I got goosebumps. Nice episode on Yozan & his backstory, I teared a little during the flashback. Oh how much of an impact someone can have on your life. Sora’s mum was so kind!

With only a few episodes left, I would have loved to see them make it to inter-high, or if they didn’t. Definitely have to get into the manga. That last scene between Yozan & Sora was so good.

I know its been mentioned a few times Sora is like a duck because of their inability to fly but I'm pretty sure some ducks can fly. Yozan is lucky to be able to play there and also not getting injured for doing such a dumb jump from the second to the first floor...can't say the same for pinecone head Mineta...
