| this is the first episode of the impel down arc that i've really liked. what a dirty prank bon clay i was like OOOOOMMGMGGG ZORO ZO-- i love how luffy said with this gigantic smile "i'm really disappointed you're not zoro, but at least you're alive!" that being said, it's still such a relief seeing bon clay. luffy's never been without a friend during an arc so buggy and mr 3's plotting just made me miss the straw hats acutely. also that silent conversation between ace and hancock was epic. |

| Bon Clay is back!!! I missed him so much, but now it is going to be weird again to hear Franky when he comes back. I just surely forgot how strong he is, nice addition to Luffy's mission. So glad though that Foxxy hasn't been jailed, would hate so much to see his ugly ass face again in this arc. |

| So our groups split up into ascending and descending groups! Very cool. At first I had thought that if Mr. 3 and Buggy lied to Bon Clay then they could have had a strong ally if they hadn't thought he was so annoying, but it felt weird to me that they said "he" was down there. The first instinct was they were referring to Luffy but I don't think Mr. 3 knew of their friendship, so I'm starting to think they told him the one he wants to visit is 'down there' and he happened to run into Luffy. That and the thread making it seem clear its not the obvious answer means I don't know if it will be Crocodile after all but for now it's still the best bet. At least that was a good trade off for Luffy. Bon Clay put up a real fight with Sanji, he's a great fighter. Going deeper to the even scarier floors means to have a good fighter with oneself, and a loyal one at that, is something infinitely valuable. Plus the moral will be super raised now that they're together! I'm glad Luffy remembered Bon Clay. Of course he wouldn't forget a friend who sacrificed himself for the Straw Hats. No way in hell. "I'm disappointed you're not Zoro but I'm still glad you're alive!", lol!!!! Sidenote, I had assumed Buggy had face tattoos because they hadn't smudged or been ruined at all through his torture but Bon Clay has his makeup on despite being in the starvation hell so I'm thinking it doesn't follow logic and therefore Buggy very well may wear makeup too. If only him and Buggy teamed up, they would be one silly looking team! I do wonder when Bon Clay was taken to Impel Down, if it was during his sacrifice for the Straw Hats he's been here for an unbelievable amount of time to be as healthy as he appears to be. I thought Luffy running through the heat refusing to give up while saying he'd find Ace if he kept going was a nice little display of his undying resolve. And, I thought the Hancock-Ace scene was even better. Hancock is so strong. She had her life nearly ruined by men and formed a hatred of them so for a entire prison floor to objectify her and call out to her like they did must have felt awful. Yet, she didn't budge. Even the blonde guard woman faltered but Hancock didn't even sweat. She was on a mission to speak to Ace and she did. Plus she seems to have riled them up more with her charm to create commotion and tell Ace the truth in secret, even going so far to tell him something only Luffy would know, that Ace would be mad if Luffy rescued him, to ensure him it's the truth. Absolutely wonderful scene for Hancock there! By the way, we totally saw the Wardens power to prep us for a Luffy vs Warden fight. Lastly, two things. I bet that Koala that was with Sadie-chan was the strongest beast on floor 4, her personal sidekick. And, I'm disappointed that the navy takes so long to even deploy tactics like sea prism stone nets and how they don't have general sea prism stone defenses set up. That said, Luffy was on a tear and they hadn't even realized who he was until recently. This floor is the first time they've been able to properly set up traps and strategize against him so it's not too bad! It's definitely better than I felt Enies Lobby was in that regard. P.S. Is there a female section of the prison? There are strong ladies in the One Piece world too! |
| I completely forgot that Bon Clay existed, I was wondering where he disappeared to. I genuinely thought that was Zoro as well lol, got me good there. Glad to see Bon again. |
| After a few rather slow-paced episodes, this was a very refreshing change of pace with how exciting and intense it was. Magellan going berserk and showing how horrifyingly deadly his power as a warden can be while Boa lets Ace in on the fact that his brother is on a very dangerous rescue mission all for his sake was a really damn good scene, that's for sure! Bon Clay and Luffy's reunion was so touching and that little moment where the former made his entrance as Zoro was quite the spectacle. |
