| Unfortunately there is a serious scientific flaw in this, despite it being cool and not uncommon use of trope. If you were in a state of relativistic flux in which your environment appears frozen to you, the air would be frozen as well, and there would be no light. You would be unable to move and unable to see, and would asphyxiate in short order. The only way you'd be able to move is if the dilation field moved with you and sequentially shifted the rate of time of the environment as you passed through it, again you'd asphyxiate if you weren't constantly moving. If it wasn't 'frozen', but rather slowed down significantly, you'd be swimming through the air like liquid. (ps: that fabric would not only be rock-solid, it'd be really scratchy too) While it's cool to look at and for plot device, it's always bugged me how people use time dilation like that. Oshit, then i read more... Goddamn Ken Akamatsu, friggin genius. Looping a single instant of time is the one and only way to reconcile ALL of the above issues (except the minor detail that the fabric would probably still be scratchy). And then they ruined it by having him plash the water and be able to eat things. If you were moving that fast compared to reality, the induction of your motion would cause nuclear-scale explosions lol. Though again the solution to that would be as i said prior, the time flux being adjusted on contact. Well played Ken, well played. Better than what most people do for time travel plots. (Flashbacks of Mahora Festival arc and how it beats Doctor Who for complexity and consistency) |
