7th Prince is back at it again

Very much like Season 1 this understands its mission perfectly, it has a huge respect for the source material down to the gags, references and derpy animations, it's visual gags are straight from the manga, and considering many studios just don't bother with such things and do the bare minimum and are happy to churn out an average generic series, this really helps 7th Prince stand out.

Very much in keeping with the first season this season is just a lot of fun, it is focused on being as tight as possible with its comedy, the dialogue and the visual ... gags, they all land.
It should also be noted that budget on this is high, the visuals are impressive, the animation is very high quality, fight scenes are very well done, and even the 'money shots' where they are looking to show off their talents outside of a fight scene just hit home the high standards of this series. It is worth praising these production values because they do so often drop off when you get to the second season, but I think they have actually improved here (I can't say for certain without going back and watching season 1 and doing a close comparison)

Season 2 strikes a different tone to Season 1, with S1 was very much Lloyd having fun with magic and a series of events just coming along and happening to him while he is essentially having fun with his experiments, S2 still sees him carefree, having fun and enjoying his experiments, but the difference is the plotline is based around one event that takes the bulk of the series to deal with.
It is also the case that we are introduced to a bunch of new characters this season, and at times Lloyd ends up taking a bit of a backseat while other characters take centre stage, for some people this may be a negative but I didn't mind this as I felt they got the balance right and it allowed the characters to be developed.
If I ever have a negative with it, then it's that I could have done with more Sylpha, as I could always do with more Sylpha.

This is a great comedy, it is great fun, it is extremely well made, and if you enjoyed Season 1, you will more than likely enjoy Season 2

I'd be lying if I said I preferred this over Season 1. While I do think this season was fun and interesting, the things that I loved about Season 1 weren't here, and I feel that impacted how I viewed this season.

Majority of this season was of the side characters, which I actually do like and care about but I feel it was a *little* too much. The latter half of this season was barely focused on our MC until the end (which tbh I expected).

Animation as always is good though, so I have no complaints on that front.

Maybe I'll pick up ... the manga as I don't have high hopes we'll get a season 3 but who knows (I was surprised it even got a s2 lol).

This season did not really have the same feel as S1 and was overall disappointing for me.

Rather than having several "short and sweet" arcs like S1, this season focused on just a single arc which was very drawn out and concluded with an unsatisfying and extremely generic villain. That might have been alright if he was defeated quickly but it was very slow paced - the whole thing could have been condensed into three or four episodes. The main focus of the arc was a mostly unimaginative religious sect (a thinly veiled caricature of Christianity). Lloyd learning the holy magic seemed to be his only ... character development. Holy magic in itself is very generic compared to what was showcased in S1 (such as Qi and object enchantment). The main point of the first season, featuring Lloyd's experiences learning and trying out new magic, seemed to be lost after the first two episodes or so, as he had already pretty much mastered the holy magic.

The arc introduced too many uninteresting and similarly generic side characters, who competed for the spotlight, and Lloyd got comparatively little development or screen time. A lot of the new characters are poorly designed, some looked too similar to each other. Jihriel is annoying and ugly, and competed with Grim for screen time. The climax featured too much of Escher's extremely repetitive singing, it majorly detracted from the viewing experience and made me want to skip ahead. Large parts of the plot were devoted to villains that were seemingly introduced for no reason other than filler, like the pig guy and the black dragon. These villains had no interactions with Lloyd. Overall Lloyd, spent too much time completely separated from the other characters.

This season very much reminds me of Isekai Maou S2, which I feel got derailed for similar reasons.

The best parts were early on in the season when they went on that little underground side-quest. The mini-boss (Civil War) was one of the more interesting villains. The humour was similar to S1 and I think it benefited from comic relief, though those moments were too infrequent. Grim got a small amount of character development towards the end.
