Mob Psycho 100 III

After foiling a world-threatening plot, Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama returns to tackle the more exhausting aspects of his mundane life—starting with filling out his school's nerve-racking career form. Meanwhile, he continues to assist his mentor Arataka Reigen and the office's new recruit, Katsuya Serizawa, in solving paranormal cases of their clients. While continuing his duties, Mob also works on gaining more independence in his esper and human lives, as well as trying to integrate better with the people around him.

However, new supernatural and ordinary challenges test Mob’s emotional stability and force him to confront the realities around him. As he strives to continue forward on the path to maturity, Mob must resolve his emotional crises and reassess the naivety he has held on for so long.

Mob psycho 300 has a somewhat weird structure but is an overall good final season.

The story continues where the previous season (and OVA) left off. It starts out with three relatively random episodes followed by three episodes on the psycho helmet religion. Then there's two episodes dedicated mostly to the telepathy club and tome followed by 4 episodes dedicated to mob and the conclusion to this anime. These last four episodes are a great ending to the anime and it's fun to watch. My personal problem with this final season is how the ending is initiated because even though the ending is good, how ... the ending comes to be doesn't make sense or just seems lazy but not everyone seems to mind this so you might not care either.

The characters are still great. I am once again surprised by how many old characters/side characters the anime manages to include in this season and it's a nice touch. There's great character building and development, just like in the last two seasons; especially in the case of mob you really start to see just how much he has grown.

The animation is good and similar to the previous seasons. The voice acting and music are good too.

Overall this is a great final season with a great ending. It has a somewhat weird episode structure and the way the ending is initiated doesn't make sense but even with these things it's most definitely worth watching.

Mixed Feelings

If you're going from season 1 & 2 with high expectations for this closure of this series,
I don't really recommend to continue or just watch it with lower expectation as it won't be as good.

The first 6 eps with the cult thing had some interesting approach that hooked me at first. I think it would be good
if they expanded to the entire season while tying some loose ends. Instead it ends pretty abruptly although safe enough
wthout having the character personality changes drastically. Also I really like how they handle Dimple's character development
until the end of the arc.

But then after that the story continues ... to slice of life direction for the side character perspective I think, but
it has to much weird shit going on to the point when the characters apparently meet alien for no apparent reason whatsoever.
Perhaps it would be still good for a light hearted funny segment if it had better transition between the scenes from the start
but showing that right after experiencing a pretty serious arc in the span of 1 episode feels it comes out of nowhere for me.

At the end the series tries to make a closure by wrapping up the romance problem plot point that makes the main character
depressed and goes berserk. But the reason to goes berserk feels weaker compared to season 1 and 2 also in this time they make
the main character to be the main problem the other characters need to take on and overcome. I guess it is a nice change of pace
compared to the previous season but again It didn't feels as satisfying as those 2 seasons prior. The romance plot also goes
pretty much nowhere at the end.

Reigen is still cool though.

A disappointing conclusion to a great anime.

After watching the excellent Season 2 late last year, I was really looking forward to Mob Psycho 3 but decided to hold off on it due to the change in voice actors which I found quite jarring. Now that I've finally gotten around to watching it I'm honestly pretty disappointed. This season for me was a mess, with terrible pacing, episodes that feel completely out of place, storylines that don't really go anywhere or relate to an overarching plot. It just feels very messy to me.

I started to get hooked towards the middle of the season as Mob finds ... himself in a difficult situation but then it just quickly boils over and the show just goes back to being a happy slice of life anime which I found bizarre. Episode 8 in particular made me question why I was even watching the show, its so out of place. Tonally the show is all over the place and doesn't even seem to know itself what story it is trying to tell. Just random episodes that feel disconnected except for a couple of episodes in the first half relating to Dimple which felt like they were building towards something greater only to fizzle out.

This season also has by far the weakest fight scenes of any season with a serious lack of action that made the show quite boring at times, aside from one episode with Dimple which I found to be excellent. The voice acting is decent but I do think the replacements for some of the actors are a downgrade and I think its a joke the way in which Crunchyroll handled the dub situation. Also the ending to me was very unsatisfying and quite random.

Despite my issues with this season, there is still great animation, likeable characters, funny moments and some level of entertainment here. I was just very underwhelmed mainly due to the lack of action and lack of a real plot and especially after how great season 2 was. The fact that this season is rated so highly on MyAnimeList is crazy to me.
