Preliminary Spoiler

It’s been over 12 years since the series had first aired and it is also a series reboot of the franchise (well, that or a stand-alone movie) and usually when that happens, a good anime series could end up doing a fantastic movie (Cowboy Bebop: The Movie) or it could end up being the most idiotic attempt of making their characters we know and love into complete insane unlikable and irritating thankless morons (Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers). But, hey, I could be wrong about this one seeing how I did like the series, I wonder if the movie would do the ...

Trigun: Badlands Rumble takes place in either an alternate timeline or in some gap in trigun's story-line that we didn't see previously. Meaning everything that happpend at the end of Trigun hasn't happened yet, except Vash has met our neighborhood friendly traveling priest Wolfwood and our two lovely ladies from the Bernardelli Insurance Society Milly and Meryl. Along the way Vash meets a new "Female friend" named Amelia.Trigun: Badlands Rumble follows our cast of hero and heroins as they encounter the legendary Gasback; who suprisingly has an even higher price on his head than Vash.

Trigun is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow (Gungrave, Kekkai Sensen). The manga was serialized in ‘Tokuma Shoten's Shounen Captain’ in 1995, with three collected volumes when the magazine was discontinued in 1997. The series continued in ‘Shounen Gahosha's Young King Ours’ magazine, under the title ‘Trigun Maximum’, where it remained until finishing in 2008. Both manga were adapted into an anime television series in 1998. Madhouse animated the TV series, which aired on TV Tokyo between April 1, 1998 and September 30, 1998, totaling 26 episodes. An animated film called ‘Trigun: Badlands Rumble’ was released in April 2010.

The plot was a bit mediocre, but with a movie budget they did the color of the world wonderfully, and I really enjoyed the bar scenes. It was good to see Vash one last time, even if now his childish Japanese has started to grate on me a little.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble is what happens when you put together everything that made Trigun so damn good and throw away everything that made Trigun so damn bad. I am a fan of Trigun, specifically the first act of the series. The episodic adventures of Vash the Stampede were brilliantly executed, exciting, funny, and action packed. Along the way we meet one of my personal favorite anime characters of all time, Wolfwood, and it’s all great up until the terrible ending concerning Vash’s brother and biblical stuff. It was out of place, convoluted, and ruined the series for me. I couldn’t stand the ending.

But ...

Warning possible Spoilers

What I thought was a continuation of the main series was actually just a big side adventure at some point in the main series dammit first Cowboy Bebop and now this.

The story begins when Vash accidentally gets caught up in a bank heist by Gasback Gallon Getaway who ended up getting betrayed by his partners, skip twenty years later Vash meets a woman named Amelia who has arrived in Macca City where rumour's have arisen that Gasback might appear once more.
Now as a Trigun Movie goes this wasn't as impressive as even most of the filler type episodes, I don't know something was ...

The reason I don't like this movie is because of these reasons
1. Vash just doesn't feel natural like he did in the show he acts like a idiot but not naturally and he spends 20 minutes to flirt with the forced upon female
2. Wolfwood had better morales in the show and didn't just go out like a free agent looking for contracts he was always by himself helping vash and he doesn't even call vash his name, he calls him needle head which doesn't make sense.
3 The dub only has Johnny returning and everyone else replaced so no one sounds the same except for ...

Great movie. Its action packed with the great humor of the Trigun series. The animation is slightly updated since this came out a lot later than the series, but the characters are exactly how you'd remember them. It made me laugh a bunch of times and kept me entertained throughout the whole thing. I'd definitely recommend it to anime fans.

If you liked the mid-early episodes of Trigun (early Wolfwood apperances), you'll like the movie. Pretty simple. It feels like an extended episode, and pretty much functions as one. It takes place during the show, some time after episode 8 or so and before 22 or so, thus you can watch it before you finish the series without issue.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble corrects all the issues I had with cowboy bebop: the movie, after all the two movies share a similar relevance in the bigger picture of the series, acting like small side stories the main story. However I believe Badlands Rumble achieves this status much better than Cowboy Bebop the Movie for a multitude of reasons (this review isn't just a comparison to the Bebop movie I just think it's a good contrast to particular positives I have with this movie).

For a start the animation is stylish, giving the art style of the 1998 series the modern update it deserves, Badlands Rumble feels ...

Mixed Feelings
I have a few things to say about this movie if that's alright:

While the movie was fantastic with the music, the animation and the returning characters, I already knew that everything was gonna be alright at the end. Because I had already watched the rest of this series, another anime and two TV Show seasons before watching this movie, I was pretty out-of-the-loop. Some people say that it took place after Episode 9 and before Episode 11, others say it takes place after Episode 10 and before Episode 12 and I was just jumping into the movie without too much context to go off of. ...

If one loves the original series, Trigun, he or she will love Badlands Rumble, There is comedy throughout, great action, great characters, and nice music. The animation is slick as ever, and even though the story isn't very compelling, the characters like Vash and Wolfwood make the movie what it is.

I actually really disliked the Trigun show. I just found vash to be an incredibly annoying character. All he did was whine and preach about "peace and love" in the most annoying way possible. Admittedly I never watched it all the way through (I've been told it gets better later on) but I didn't enjoy it by episode 8 so don't judge me for moving on.

Any who! My point is, in spite of my disdain for the show, I actually really liked this movie. The animation was much more palatable (though that mostly is because it was made approx 10 yrs after the original ...

Love Trigun? Then you'll almost certainly love this. The gang's all here, in top form, with a lot of gags and laughs, as well as some great action and the occasional melancholy undertones the series also had. The animation is really nice, but retains the look of the series perfectly; basically, imagine if the TV series had a much larger budget. The story is classic Trigun fare, and manages to avoid feeling like just an extended episode of the series. Definitely a blast from start to finish, and can even be enjoyed by those completely unfamiliar with Trigun, as this is actually quite accessible for ...

I never got to watch this movie when it came out, so almost 10 years later, this was a real blast of nostalgia for me. Trigun was one of my all time favorite animes, like it was for many American fans of anime in the 90s. And this movie was just a reminder of how great that series was, even if the movie, to be fair, is only a shadow of what made the series great.

The movie pretty much is a prolonged episode covering a bandit named Gasback trying to get revenge against his old crew who betrayed him and Vash, somehow ...

I have to be honest, when I was watching the Tri Gun Show, I never thought it could or would get better. Sadly it left something missing and that was a good female protagonist, some people might argue that the girls at the insurance company were good female side characters. But myself and many people I know never really cared for them, the only people that we're really of any interest were Vash and Wolfwood, I guess Knives and his gang too. But when I watched Badlands Rumble, it made me feel that the Tri Gun show would have been a lot better if Amelia ...

So clever of the makers of Trigun to come out with a movie over 12 years later! This movie had a great plot, and in the first 15 minutes, it already had Vash cracking me up! Of course, Vash lets the bad guys escape, and it effects Ameilas whole life. She is 'allergic' to men and cannot stand the very sight of Vash. Gasback, then finally returns to get revenge on his old crew that planned to kill him 20 years ago. And Wolfwood is helping him! At least Wolfwood is only doing it since Gasback saved him from dehydration. Vash runs into Millie and ...

The movie was a masterpiece!!Perfect design, perfect soundtrack, perfect story. It's too bad, that Trigun won't get any new anime.A shame, but if the guys, that made this film make another one,I'll give them a gold medal.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble is a patchwork of scenarios from the main series, portrayed in the trademark (or overused, as some might say) story progression of the Trigun franchise. While trying to appeal to the Trigun aesthetic they completely miss the mark about what Trigun was really about.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Story:
Admittedly, I don't hate when a story is predictable. Sometimes it's nice to get riled up over expecting something to happen, then being satisfied when it finally happens. What really makes me mad, though, is when the writers pull something out of their ass so astronomically bullshitted (Main cast getting all sad over a VERY important character ...

Every big series has that one movie out of many that really brings up the essence of the storyline and characters and perfectly presents itself even to non-fans, it's nostalgic, self-documenting, and has a great reachability score, unfortunately, Trigun only has one movie, and fortunately, it hits harder than 10 mediocre movies combined.

Story (7.5/10):
The story picks up midway through the canon events, before the series gets as dark as we know, with a strong vibe of villain-of-the-week where it presents a stereotypical macho baddy with a past connection with Vash, very predictable but it doesn't act too hard to hide it, the answers are clear ...
