Synopsis

Kohachi Inugami, a detective who specializes in the occult, arrives at a remote village in the Japanese countryside, tasked by a hostess at a local inn to investigate a string of incidents involving rotting and mutilated livestock corpses that have been appearing for seemingly no reason. While surveying, Inugami notices a peculiar young boy working in the fields. Evaded by his peers and called "Dorotabou" for his stench, the young farmhand is surprised that anybody would take an interest in him.

Inugami, piqued with curiosity, enlists Dorotabou in helping him with the investigation, despite scorned looks from the villagers. Unbeknownst to Dorotabou, this investigation will reveal a strange new world to him—one of the beast-like entities known as Kemono existing in tandem with humans—along with breathing new purpose into his previously empty life.

I have been reading the manga and i have to say the adaptation is pretty good. I dont know about others but for me this is one of those cases where anime is actually better then the manga(I cant say anything about manga elitists tbh). That aside the pacing is good, The opening is fire but the soundtracks need a litle more juice in my opinion. Furthermore only some scenes were cut but as a bonus they changed and edited to make something else like in episode 2 where there was no scene of akira and the spider boy in the manga but they were read more

Kemono Jihen has been a certain surprise this season. So much so that I've gone ahead and checked out the manga, and hoping to keep up with it after it finishes. It has interested me that much. From it's story, characters, to how the overall themes look in general. They really can make Kemono Jihen look terrifying, but also great at the same time, let me explain.

Art and sound:
Since I just touched upon both, let me explain. This isn't a happy go lucky anime, which of course means a more darker tone on some of the scenes. But it's well done here, they really make read more

So Kemono Jihen.

The main draw that brought me to this series was the art style, having similar qualities to the very popular Demon Slayer as well as being a shounen. I didn’t know what to expect with this series and went in blind. How was it?

...........Meh

The story follows around a detective at a supernatural agency where he lives with children he picks up off the streets and uses them to his advantage and tosses them into life-threatening situations. Putting aside my jokingly blunt summary, the agency focuses on hunting down Kemono, or beast-like entities. So far, the story hasn’t shown much potential and seems read more

It's sad how overlooked this show is because of all the sequels and big name shows this season. Kemono Jihen really is an underrated, hidden gem that hooks you in from the first episode.

The show may look kiddy to you but don't let appearences fool you as it is a surprisingly mature and dark show. Part of the new wave of "darker" shonens that are unafraid to show morbid, disturbing things every so often.

That said, even though the atmosphere when our gang goes out solving mysteries is often dark and unforgiving and contrasts heavily from the lighthearted and wholesome slice of life moments that read more
