Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou

Most people seem to be really hating the series for having the 1st ep be a power struggle than the keeps getting cranked up with power. I won't deny that it's unlogical for an anime MC to be getting ridiculously OP by the second however I think most of you are judging before waiting to see what happens. As he mentioned in the ending of the 5th episode he could end up facing god-level threats, as a maverick yes he is OP as it stands but he could get annihilated by gods. On top of all of that this anime gives you the fan service ... (Well more of it is the fulfillment of romance) then most shows. Most shows will string you along until the very end and then some times not even show exactly how it goes, I'm not sure about everyone else but I hate that feeling. (Shield Hero is a good example of what I mean, Raph x Naofumi) P.S. Just because of the fact that he is in love now doesn't mean that won't change. As we've seen before his classmate is seriously in love with him when they are reunited it could mean that sparks fly because of the loli. I'd recommend waiting before everyone jumps down the throat of the maker of the anime, also calling the show trash / whatever seems rather unreasonable. Please wait until we see what happens before you predict the future and write it off as a bad anime.

This anime is really bad. Everything about it is horrible. The CG is horrible. The acting is terrible. Every frame looks confusing as hell. But if theres one thing that Arifureta does well, is that it makes you laugh. The ugly looking CG and the confusing scenes are absolutely hilarious. Of course in the first few minutes of the show, you are just left confused. But after you start expecting it and take the whole thing as a joke, it is the funniest thing ever. This is very similar to Garzey's wing. But unlike Garzey's wing, where only one episode was really funny, this show ... consistently finds new ways to be awesomely horrible. Best comedy show of the year, no of the century. 10/10 guarantees laughs any day.

Also Yue is hella hot

I can see why people hate this show but I actually enjoyed it. Of course this show was definitely not perfect. It had many problems. Minor spoilers if you haven't seen it.

One of the problems was the animation. I didn't like that they used CGI for all the monsters, it just made them look all weird and not intimidating. I did like the character designs so I will give them props for that.

The second is how it started. I have read the first light novel and will be reading the rest soon, but how the show started was much different from the light novel. They ... didn't add new content to the anime that they light novel didn't have, its that the anime started when they were in the new world and that not how the light novel started. Light novel started with them at there school, anime really doesn't show anything about them being in school and I think they shouldn't have done that.

What I did like about this show is the story. That is what made the show watchable for me. If it wasn't for the story, I probably would have drop it a long time ago. They story is interesting, its not like every Isekai out there.

If you have trouble with animation not being that good then you shouldn't watch this anime. If you like a good story even if it is a bit jumble up then you should definitely check out this anime

"Masterpiece Novel got misunderstood because of the bad adaptation"

Arifureta is one of the few series that got really popular in Japan by just a novel, it got 3 Audio CD before the anime announcement and the sell is so good when compared to other popular anime series

for the Anime, it got really bad storytelling on ep1 (much better on ep2+). for the animation and visual side, it around average and it still enjoyable

for those people who have been told or heard that "the author is so picky about the staff so the anime got delay by 1 year and the animation got worst lol" well, ... trust me the current version is thousand times better than the first version

give the manga a short, if you want more then the light novel, if you want even more then the web novel.

This really doesn't seem like anyone's cup of tea to be honest. But I didn't mind it so much. The animation isn't a problem for me, as it is for some. So if you're not too picky on that, then you won't be bothered by that supposed flaw.

The characters aren't that bad either. Sure there are issues. But if we just focus on the main main cast, then it's not a problem.

My only real problem with this show, is that it's pacing is a little eeeeeeeh.

I will say, if you're going into this and expecting something like Shield Hero. Then you're mistaken. It's ... not a bad anime, but wouldn't say it's great either so far.

Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (2019)

This anime is being slated by many people out there. If you go into it with an open mind ignoring the fact of the guns, vehicles, crazy weapons at times and the CGI which is not the best then it is a good enough series.

A bit different from most Isekai in that after our main character gets betrayed because a cute girl likes him he is thrown into despair and becomes like a villain. He builds up a group (all girls, of course, so a harem). He then gets insanely strong very quickly but that is not unusual but ... you do see his despair and hate grow. He actually takes up a girls offer of love which is uncommon and recognises the other girl's feelings towards him which again is uncommon. He fights to get home and is OP.

The art used in the series is good enough for the most part but the CGI used is a bit old in style. It is similar to the DanMachi CGI for monsters but it comes off a bit worse since DanMachi has a superb story and the rest of the art is great. It is watchable though and you can still enjoy it even with a bit of lacklustre.

The sound used is alright. The OP and ED are good for the series. The sounds used throughout are nice and the Voice Actors were selected well.

Characters develop well enough. The main Group with our protagonist get the backstories and the critical points that led their lives to this situation. We also get our other heroes the rest of the class develop where needed and know intentions very quickly.

The show itself is enjoyable. It isn't a typical Isekai like I said. It has a protagonist who RECOGNISES a girls feelings and is although OP at least he starts off weak and you can understand how things changed as he goes on.

Season 2 is announced so all the haters need to see that enough people do enjoy the show and hope that is enough credit to get people watching this first season.

The best isekai paint honest portraits of otakuism. Classics of the current movement like Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei use the isekai premise to examine what their otaku protagonists want, what they need to grow as people, and how aspects of their otaku identity can help and hinder that growth. They present a holistic understanding of their subject matter through the lens of isekai.

Arifureta paints a portrait every bit as honest, though not on purpose.

Do not mistake my recommendation for a positive critical assessment. By the standards of any reasonable critic, Arifureta is terrible. It’s a juvenile power fantasy with all around horrible production values, and ... no thematic depth or interesting plot mechanics to compensate. But a straightforward critical assessment misses most of what Arifureta has to offer.

Manga and light novel authors have a surprising amount of control over adaptations of their work. Due to a quirk in Japanese copyright law (Moral Rights or jinkaku-ken), authors often have the authority to approve or disapprove adaptations and fan works.

This is often a positive force, it’s what allowed Takehiko Inoue to hold out on Slam Dunk adaptations until he could personally sit in the director’s chair - the result being The First Slam Dunk, the best sports anime of all time. Arifureta represents the opposite side of that coin, having swapped studios from the reliable White Fox to the reliably terrible asread. last minute on the author’s demands.

To fans of Arifureta, this was a horrible curse that doomed the anime to failure. I won’t deny this made the anime worse, White Fox’s isekai adaptations most proximate to Arifureta’s production, Re:Zero and Cautious Hero, are both impressive technically, and that quality would no doubt improve Arifureta in a straightforward critical sense. But Arifureta is not an anime that cannot be assessed straightforwardly.

I could write pages on how bad Arifureta is, but I’m not here to do that. Nobody is interested in hearing a teardown of Arifureta. I’m here to make a much more difficult case, to zealously advocate for Arifureta as one of the greatest works of garbage media ever crafted.

I try to be fair to fans of works I criticize, so to fans of Arifureta: I get it.

After 25 episodes + 4 OVAs, I kind of love the cast’s dynamic, and the larger plot isn’t a conceptual failure. Hajime is fighting god, and his class is fighting in the war that god puppeteered. That’s an interesting structure. I understand what a good version of this might look like, but Arifureta is not that show.

Arifureta’s garbage CG, consistently off model characters, underlit backgrounds, and bland art direction make it impossible to take anything it presents seriously. That takes the uncomfortable edge off all of the show’s uncomfortable edginess. We watch the protagonist kill people for no reason, and are able to laugh at it since it’s so incompetently presented. In a backwards way, the poor production makes the show more enjoyable.

Much of the edginess stems from our protagonist, the coolest mf ever, Hajime.

He’s so badass and edgy that he just kills people for no reason in like, every episode. He declines every side quest he’s offered, waffles about if he should bother saving hundreds of lives at minimal personal cost. Then he accepts every one anyway. And that occupies about 20% of the show’s runtime. You could say that’s real annoying, I say that’s just the cost of edge.

You see, Hajime was betrayed, shot into the depths of a labyrinth by his bully. Then he got his fricking arm blown off by a bear, and had to start eating monsters raw to survive, and that gave him sick ass monster abilities, and made his hair white for some reason. The production staff made the striking choice to make monster blood piss yellow btw. He also gets a demon eye at some point (like Rudeus Mushoku Tensei), but I forgot why.

His whole class thinks he’s dead, except for this one healer girl who had a crush on him pre-isekai, who made a promise to protect him or something.

This is a genius set up for escapist wish fulfillment. Isekaing his entire class allows Arifureta to tap into the high school social dynamics its presumed target audience is escaping from, and making them all think he’s dead creates fertile ground for interesting encounters when he reunites with them only for them to realize he's become the coolest mf ever and has a harem and a daughter and is willing to murder people for no reason and has a cool ass eyepatch and has 100 cool ass guns and a fricking pile bunker and a motorcycle and a humvee and white hair and a 13 inch penis (presumably).

The personalities in that harem are pretty cool too, epic even. Not going to bother describing them though, would take too many paragraphs.

There’s more to this anime than Hajime and his harem though, supposedly.

Right, plot. Arifureta’s plot is impressively shameless, and I really only need one anecdote to illustrate that, so here’s 6:

Hajime's bunny girl companion almost drowns (after randomly seeing a talking fish) so he mouth-to-mouth resuscitates her, only for her to leg lock him out of nowhere and start frenching him.

Hajime beats a dragon by shoving a pole up its ass, then the dragon starts talking and moaning + begging him to stop, but he pushes it further in (he doesn't give a fuck). This is all in front of his teacher and classmates by the way. Then the dragon turns into a human and joins his harem (serving as resident Darkness clone).

Hajime rescues a mermaid child from a ring of slavers (who somehow kidnapped her from a city in the middle of the ocean). Then he jumps into the sky carrying her and says “look at these fireworks” and blows up all of their hideouts. The mermaid child then stops calling him “onii-chan” and starts calling him “papa”. Upon conclusion of this arc, all of the Hajime harem members simultaneously ask him to impregnate them.

Hajime mouth to mouth resuscitates his teacher (whose legs start squirming around halfway through), then he shoots his classmate in the face as he's already bleeding out. His harem congratulates him for this gracious act of kindness (shooting him means his teacher won’t feel responsible, or something).

The bunny girl gets covered in slime then nutted in the face by dungeon traps.

There’s also this one part where Hajime is throating meat in a dungeon, really chowing down, and that one goofy running sound effect plays. That went hard.

What goes harder than the meat is the soundtrack, which combines electronic and jazz elements. That works surprisingly well with the light dark fantasy vibes. That’s like, the single genuine point of praise you’ll find in this review.

The note this anime ends on is truly remarkable. As Hajime drives into a random desert on his magic humvee with his full 4 member harem + mermaid daughter, he narrates the following badass (definitely not cringey) line:

"All who get in my way are my enemies, and I kill all my enemies, even if they're a god".

I just wrote that from memory, so it’s probably wrong, but as an indiscriminate killer myself, it speaks to me.

This batshit insanity props up all of the boring set dressing surrounding it. We never get opportunities to think about how hollow the world building is, or how almost every character outside the main harem has no defined personality. Any time you’re at risk of getting bored, an explosion happens, or an inexplicable fanservice scene, or Hajime shoots someone in the face in front of all their friends.

In its bumbling ineptitude, Arifureta paints a more honest portrait of garbage isekai and the wishes of contemporary otaku than better anime could ever hope to match. If Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei appeal intellectually and critically, Arifureta appeals on the basest lizard brain level. If you’re the type of person that works for, it’ll be fun as hell (at least when it isn’t boring).

You should absolutely give it a watch, especially if you’re one of those annoying people who thinks Luffy should just kill all the villains, you’ll get a real kick out of it.

Arifureta..... This anime was actually really enjoyable and it is very luck tat it ended u[p being this fun to watch. Yeah, the story could be better it's not very special and it feels kind of rushed, but I still love this show I think I heard they only had like half a year to make the show because The original creator of the manga didn't like how they did it at first. So they had to start over on their own I can respect the hustle.

Story 7
The story isn't fully there its just does feel kind of empty sometimes and there are some ... plot holes, but not as much as there should be. The story does feel rushed at some parts but the show makes it up with there characters.

Art 10
Obviously art is subjective I think it looks really nice the animation studio did a good job with that. the art looks very smooth. I think nagumo looks the best out of all the characters, just because I haven't seen anyone who looks like him. There probably is someone in another anime that does look like him but I haven't seen them.

Sound 10
It sound like any other anime. But when it come to OP, ED, and OST Arifureta has one of the best it has a classy jazz feel to it. The opening is one of my favorite it is in English and I miss English openings. You don't see those often anymore. The ED is good too, It is not as good as the OP or the OST but it is still exceptional. The OST Is very good I like the saxophone that plays when nagumo fight one of the monster.

Characters 10
Characters can also be subjective. My favorite character is Nagumo, it was just really fun watching him I like his attitude in the anime. He doesn't spare the enemies and I can respect that because I hate watching a show and The Mc just lets the enemy get away. Some OP anime characters are not good in my opinion, I don't like kirito or the guy from Isekai Wa Smartphone. The other characters are good too but I think Nagumo carries the show.

I enjoyed this show the whole time I was watching it. I love the concept of the Mc getting betrayed by their allies Thats probably the reason I like shield hero. I finished the whole show in one day. I don't do that for a lot of animes. It was just enjoyable for me.

I was impressed when I first watched this, obviously a lot of people don't like this show and that is perfectly fine. Overall I loved it and I'm excited for season 2.

"Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" certainly lives up to its name: it's about a commonplace synergist character named Hajime, who can't fight and basically can only transmute rocks, and his change into an OP gun-toting badass killing machine straight out of Devil May Cry! There are a ton of isekai (transported to another world) anime that have been coming out lately, but I wanted to let you know that you'd be missing out if you skipped Arifureta! I've seen the 5 episodes that are out so consider this a preliminary review.

Story: 5/10. This is as generic as an isekai gets: Hajime and his homeroom ... are transported to a fantasy world and are fighting so they can return home. Actually, the fact that his whole class comes with him is a novel concept, but sadly they don't go into that much. Hajime is separated from his class early on and so the class basically becomes background characters. Hajime is betrayed by some people early on and eventually adopts this "screw the world" attitude, similar to Naofumi in Rising of the Shield Hero, but Shield Hero just executed this idea a lot better. See, Naofumi was accused of an awful crime he didn't commit, which basically ruined his life in this new world and turned everyone against him, giving him pretty good reason to be surly all the time and not trust anyone. By comparison, Hajime really doesn't have as much justification for this attitude.

Character: 7/10. There was a lot of missed potential here. It this show had actually developed every member of Hajime's class and showed how they were dealing with life in this new world I'd probably give it a 10/10 for doing something I haven't seen in an isekai. Sadly we only focus on Hajime and Yue, the male and female leads. Hajime is a bit of a bland OP isekai protagonist you've seen before, but his action lines and scenes are so cool it's hard not to like him. My only gripe with Hajime is his sudden shift in personality (and hair color) from episode 1-2. I feel like if the show had slowed down and taken its time with his transformation from wimp to badass it would've been a lot better. I really like Yue, the adorable loli vampire, who can still be a badass in her own right.

Art: 6/10. The art and animation is done by Studio White Fox (of Goblin Slayer and Re:Zero fame) and it looks good for the most part. All of the character designs are appealing. I really like Yue's design with her golden hair and piercing red vampire eyes. I love all of the monster designs, especially the seductive plant monster in episode 3. No, the main reason I had to drop the score is because of the intrusive BAD CGI that is used for certain monster battles. In particular I am thinking of the hydra Hajime and Yue fight in episode 4, that looks like it walked out of a PS2 game. The jump from 2D animation to bad 3D CG is so jarring I'd say it puts Berserk (2016-17) to shame! It's that bad!

Sound: 9/10. The soundtrack in Arifureta is superb. I remember turning up the volume during fight scenes because I loved the battle music so much. The OP deserves special mention because it is simply gorgeous and one of my favorite OP's of all time now. Arifureta's theme features sexy jazz/sax music accompanied by beautiful English vocals that never slips into "Engrish" is you know what I mean.

Enjoyment: 8/10. Honestly there are things in this show that either don't make sense or aren't explained well. Why didn't Hajime die from blood loss after his arm got ripped off? If eating the monsters you kill in this world gives you a power boost, why doesn't everyone do it? Shouldn't there be a ton of white haired gun-toting badasses like Hajime then? Anyway, none of that matters because you're gonna watch this anime for the sick action and sexy music, and "turn your brain off" like I did. During this season of isekai anime, I recommend the "Two-Hit" mom isekai for a comedy show, but I choose Arifureta if you want action goodness.

I was gonna give Arifureta an overall score of 8/10 but when I thought about the terrible CGI in certain episodes, and I remembered just how damn confusing and poorly paced episode 1 was, I had to dock it down to a 7/10.

I really enjoyed this anime but being a late comer I was able to watch the full 12 ep's, 1 being a review ep 5.5, I can understand the poor reviews. While yes the CGI wasn't the greatest in the world not all CGI is going to be prefect so it's bad but not so bad to not watch. Most eps don't have any or very little CGI meaning it shouldn't really be a reason to give the anime a lower score.

I gave this anime a 9 while I really enjoyed it it's not a favorite of mine so I can't give it a ... 10. While yes it's another isekai anime it does do things just differently enough to make it stand out with it's story. While it has the typical "harem" trope it doesn't come off fully as fan service and more of a comedy then romance past the first few eps.

The tight walk rope the MC has to walk to not take things to far but also be a realist of the situations he is always in make it enjoyable. Without giving spoilers he becoming overpower by human standards which is a normal trope but he doesn't seem to use it to just blast things away or take orders from someone else. The MC feels more like how most people would react in such a situation rather then go an destroy everything and save the day it more about doing what you feel you should do and not whatever is telling you to do.

If your on the fence about this anime i would suggest watching the first 3-5 eps for yourself. Most people seem to disregard this anime because of minor flaws that every anime has. Also the fact that everyone seems to hype anime up before release making it seem worse then what it actually is. I completely disagree with it's current rating of a 6 there are far worse isekai anime out there if you dislike isekai anime then I would suggest staying away as the people who would enjoy this anime have been turned away by people who dislike it based on genre alone.

Effectively the brightest mind of our generation. They say one man's trash is another man's treasure and treasure this is indeed. From the poignantly paced plot to the detailed character design, this puts simple minded animes such as Evangelion to shame. Look past the negative reviews here, this anime is simply ahead of its time. It is a failure on this entire community that I have to write this review. I feel that many of the armchair critics on this forum speak not from the enjoyment of art, but instead over intellectualize their experience and miss the entire point the writer is trying to make. ... This anime is a composed dissertation on the human experience. I spent a lot of time trying to decide if I was going to write this review. I wasn't sure how to express what I was and am feeling. At this point I can only call it disappointment. Not in the anime, but on my fellow reviewers. We as reviewers have a responsibility to inform the public. We are the taste makers of the digital landscape. This is FUCKING WATERGATE... but I digress. What I want to leave you with this. This anime dares to be different... better. And it's fighting against you. What are you leaving behind in the world? Do you hold open doors for others? Do you pick up trash on the side of the road? Make a difference. 10/10

Dusty

From common place to worlds strongest, another "Isekai" anime as the whiners would say but how does this one fare to top picks like "No Game No Life", "Gate" and "Re: Zero".

Well this anime is a lot like "Sword Art Online" season 01 structure wise, unlike SAO Alice, the very first SAO was trimmed because it was a newcomer and if you know about the anime industry, you know there are things like Slot Booking, Budget and Profit forecast, Not a lot of anime studios go in with sequels in mind. so it's about playing it safe, what can last the whole season and most ... likely relevant to what is being played, seeing how popular and how investment SAO has gathered despite the forever mad pseudo critics, not only did it pay off but it generated a large enough pull so that for years anything remotely moving the MC to a different place is good enough to be animated.

So how is it related to SAO, Arifureta it's a much shorter anime that uses the same summary format to maybe pique the interest of an audience.

Plot: 8/10
While SAO was a psychological twist on regards to being trapped inside a game which automatically means certain death if your HP drops to zero, things that only seasoned gamers can avoid and even then, mistakes are made.

Hajime Nagumo is a High Schooler that is transported to another world alongside his entire classroom. and unlike Kirito who has resolve and skills from the get go and you know, is playing with a fake virtual body, Nagumo is a easily forgettable youth with no back bone. was dealt a bad hand upon reaching the fantasy world, whose skills upon arrival to the new world can only work on groups, as he is basically a glorified Blacksmith that isn't a sorcerer, healer and / or even a attacker and of course is risking his life and limbs on his real body on a floor clearing system like SAO but instead of going UP, the higher floors go underground.

By all accounts, A Blacksmith has no business on the battlefield, and is usually in some shop in the safety of a town.

one day, on a mission for simple jealousy for a girl, A male classmate hides a magic shot among shots meant for the creatures they're fighting and hits Hajime Nagumo sending him several floors down by himself alone with terrifying monsters in a lot of darkness.

Now imagine being a high schooler, with the skills of a blacksmith, no weapons several hundred feet under ground surrounded by tougher monsters that the ones your party used to fight. Alone in the Darkness, with monsters to whom you are nothing more than a treat to eat. the upside is that Nagumo by resorting to eat monsters he is able to hunt by setting up traps to be able to survive, he acquires a myriad abundant of skills related to what he eat, even if it is all raw.

Nagumo has to survive and make it to the top, loses an arm to a monster that was already eating him alive and an eye later on. he has to toughen up and is now fueled by hatred of those who left him, but what should have been a story of vengeance, turns into one of growth on which a boy becomes a man, with a party of extraordinary monsters like a Dragon, a Vampire and a still impressive Bunny Girl with super Strength. Nagumo goes from a forgettable character to Rambo in 13 episodes.

Art 8 / 10
Arifureta has great animation and is very vibrant on regards to characters, landscape and world, but the monsters are 3D rendered so it's all about how you feel about that, I didn't find it as bothersome as others do but I'll leave this to your discretion.

Great soundtrack. one of the best things of this anime is the use of it's music.

I fully enjoyed this anime, it has a sprinkle of everything, even Konosuba with a perverted masochistic Dragoness on par with Darkness from the aforementioned show. however the edge of the blade here is how does the spacing bother you, this anime spit the anime in to two, a story or summary of one and a long epilogue on which Nagumo is a badass cleaning house on the surface after learning a secret he uncovered underground. a lot of people wanted more dungeon bad assery and more skills. however this show based on how it was handled, the goods are at the surface not the dungeons.

Itis truly sad that this series didn't take the risk a made it longer, maybe get another season and perhaps could have been the next SAO on length but more of an underdog take.

while not the splash everyone anticipated, it's an anime you'll be glad you saw nevertheless. wouldn't be surprised if the show got second season, the character dynamic is a sight to behold after all.

overall a very good anime every one who writes something different just crys because its not like the light novel like in every bad review on this side so if u want to find a good short anime u should watch this

[spoiler free] There's one thing you come to realise after being on MAL for some time - that there's a lot of highly pretentious views on what 'good' anime looks like. So sorry, Arifureta is not 'original' or 'innovative' and doesn't have 'avant-garde' art of a ground-breaking score.

What Arifureta is, is good entertainment and if like most you're a casual viewer who enjoy the isekai trope then you'll find all the right blend of ingredients here including an interesting plot, out-there fantasy craziness, a touch of romantic antics and some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments. This is the Burger King of anime and it tastes pretty damn ... good.

But let's get one thing out of the way first of all - the CGI in Arifureta is bad, plain bad. CGI can be used effectively in anime, unfortunately it just hasn't happened here. However, the series does make up for in other areas so that by the 3rd episode you've pretty much stopped caring.

What Arifutera does do pretty well though is with everything else. There's some pretty witty dialogue, a varied cast of characters who are decently individual, sufficient back-story to support the plot and *shock* believe it of not an MC who isn't dense as a neutron star (yes it did happen in Ep5).

All this over a coherent decently paced 13-episode arc that culminates satisfactorily to leave you wanting more. Yes, this won't win any awards but it sure as heck delivers an easily digestible season that's entertaining, funny and definitely deserving the 2nd season it's getting.

This anime is about a very cute loli vampire. Unfortunately, she doesn't make an appearance until the end of episode 2. Double unfortunately, other characters start showing up later and stealing screen time from the loli vampire.

Also, apparently there was a ton of hype leading up to the release of this anime and when it didn't live up to the hype, everyone was very disappointed. I have no idea why, this anime is basically every isekai ever. Like, did anyone really go into this expecting anything else?

But anyway, I would've given this a 10 if the loli vampire was given more screen time.

The MC is not a typical anime pussy. 9/10 material just for that alone, but in case that's not enough I also have other reasons...

Arifureta's beginning is terrible, there's no way to sugarcoat it; the first episode is so utterly cringe-worthy I really don't have any explanation other than maybe it was a discarded pilot that was accidentally cast instead of the real version. The next 3-5 episodes are also pretty bad, although they become progressively less so as the world fills out, mechanics and rules are introduced, and the world begins to take shape.

At episode six, the MC and his ever-growing harem emerge ... from the labyrinth and the story really explodes in terms of scope--so much so that it's like a different series entirely. I absolutely loathe flashbacks and feel they are a mechanic that lazy, uninspired, and just *bad* writers fall back on when they can't be bothered to detail their creations...but the first half of the Arifureta is so awful they probably should have begun on episode six and just flashbacked the first five. Yeah...they're that terrible.

I won't blab on about the story, because in all reality it's the same, regular isekai harem OP MC anime plot progression that's been done a dozen times already in the last four or five years. But I will never lose the conviction that being generic is fine as long as it's done very well, and it's done very well indeed here.

What really makes this such a great investment, in my opinion, is that the MC is absolutely not a little bitch. He doesn't have a high-pitched, effeminate voice. He doesn't avoid kissing or touching women. He's not obsessed revenge. Best of all: he kills his enemies. There's no ambiguity about it, he absolutely annihilates the people in his way, usually by shooting them in the face with his it's-totally-six-shots-guys revolver. I can't even estimate how many series I've seen where the MC forgives and forgets through the power of friendship magic how terrible people are. Nope, not here. This guy will blow their heads clean off. Nice.

I'm an adult. I like adult reasoning. Adults don't act like children, particularly in live-or-die situations. Sadly that's almost never shown in anime, because the vast majority is for children. But this one isn't. This protagonist emulates actual, adult logic in extreme problem solving. Again, nice.

Besides the first half of the show being just...yeah, the music throughout the whole show is wrong. Battle scenes are accompanied by some kind of smooth jazz/soft rock that sounds some guys at a 3am jam session in a sax bar when everyone is totally hammered and can't hear. It makes no sense. I can't explain why no one thought "hey, this music sucks really bad and I should tell them to stop." Oh well. Also, as a word of warning, the story is not complete, but in this case the second season is already in production so that's fine. There isn't really a "big bad" antagonist in a real sense so even if the second season gets canned the story itself isn't bogged down with a bad cliffhanger.

Most people gave up before the halfway point. If you can make it there and still have the willpower to go forward, I promise you'll enjoy Arifureta.

For the most part, all the people taking a huge dump on this show aren't wrong, IT IS "Bad" in many ways, The story feels like it was written by a 6th grader pursuing a writer career and only feels like writing stuff in class without the teacher noticing them (wow that was unnecessarily way too specific).

- When it comes to the characters the author kinda gave up half way and just started duplicating konosuba's setup, (maybe he just really likes that show tho, who knows lol, <darkness best girl btw>)

- Art wise, i really feel like the studio did a decent enough job in ... general, (cgi aside, we all know japan is trolling us with bad cgi at this point <oh shit but vinland saga out here tho, maybe there's still hope for japan and cgi>) anyway yeah, generally speaking the anime didn't really look "bad" it just didn't look "ufotable" and that's totally understandable and forgiveable. really ya'll need to chill down and tone your studio standards a bit down, studios are really trying their best, and i respect that. but then there is Toei Animation rofl. rip one piece.

- Sound ? i will stand by the seiyuu's any day of the week, i think they are all talented and hard working, and this anime's cast is no exception they all did a decent job it's just that the anime itself was kinda uhh, you know- .. bad-

- Now finally, off to the reason onto what's good about this anime if it's really just bad, okay hold your pants fellas, this is where it gets a lil bit uhh not- professional- (pfff as if it was)

Right domo hiii, my inner weeb here, i've taken oven, I'M IN, So first of all, the number one good thing about this show is THE VAMPIRE LOLI <insert article "she's 300+ years old officer" Here>
Most of the other girls are also cute kinda too tbh ngl, the Mc is not a pussy ass little bitch cuck, while he does have the generic harem set up he actually has chosen his woman out of them ?? this is like a fucking miracle, a harem mc choosing his girl ? <insert guts so it was a dream.png>
But generally speaking the mc is pretty cool, i know he's like a walking piece of EDGE, but he still is alright and somewhat badass as an mc, he had some really cool moments and i appreciate that.
the show's comedy was kinda so bad that you'd laugh at how bad a joke is sometimes, so that just kinda is there and its not really bad-

So overall, while the show is total garbage it can still be enjoyable to watch by certain people like myself, we like to call ourselves the "Trash Clan" we mainly will watch anything as long as it has a cute anime girl and a somewhat cool mc, so if you're a person that demands a serious story setup with epic builds up then by all means avoid this show, but if you're one of our people then *wink* you're missing out on a really cute vampire loli uw

This review is probably going to be buried under all of the other ones, but I'll write it anyways.

I've watched the anime twice now. I'm not particularly picky, so I didn't notice a lot of the things people tend to complain about with this series. I didn't think it was a masterpiece, but I didn't dislike it. Far from it, I really enjoyed watching it - enough to rewatch it, even after reading other people's complaints about the CGI, etc.

I liked it enough that I read the original web novel, even though the translation is spotty at times. I'm currently reading through the light novels, ... and I can't recommend them enough. Ryo Shirakome is a fantastic author, and he's really humble about that too - and whoever they have translating the books is also doing a great job at it.

That said, the series probably won't apply to anyone. The author's original handle is "Chuuni Lover" for a reason. Even though it pains our main character, he ends up pretty chuuni. This is also fairly stock isekai stuff - the main character ends up stupidly overpowered and with a harem (the harem takes a while, but once it gets going...)

So I guess what I'm saying is, give the anime a try. If that doesn't do it for you, try the web novel (it's free, after all). If that *does* work for you, I'd definitely recommend the light novels.

This series isn't particularly deep, it didn't lead to any changes in my worldview or whatever, but as a guilty pleasure, or something to eat popcorn to, it's one of my favorites.

I am not trying to make this review helpful or anything, i just want to tell my opinion about this anime.

When i watched this anime and looked the reviews, i was thinking that why the ratings were so bad? I think this anime is much more entertaining than many other isekai anime.

Let me talk about the main character Hajime Nagumo. I love this character, why? Because he is just way different than any other isekai mc. At the beginning, just an ordinary boy who then gets betrayed by his classmate and falls in to abyss where he turns into a cruel merciless guy with no ... hesitation to kill. Does that sound like a typical isekai mc? I just love how he doesn't hesitate to kill the enemy like other isekai mc's probably would.

I don't have anything to say about the artstyle or the animation i think it were just fine as it is because I'm not pro reviewer.

But i really enjoyed this anime, the fight scenes were okay, sometimes little boring, and the harem is amazing as well, it's not like any stupid harem with some dense motherfucker who doesn't even know about his harem. And the girls are fine too not any annoying tsunderes. Now i just want to see more of Hajime doing cool stuff and enjoying his harem, can't wait for 2nd season to come out. I don't care what people thinks about this anime
but this is one of the best isekai anime ever made enough said.

honestly i have little complaints when it comes to the story, the premise is slightly more interesting than your average isekai, and the story is handled quite well. the soundtrack is jazzy and upbeat and complements the series quite nicely. the characters while being cliche at times, go beyond you're typical isekai characters and make the show quite enjoyable. my only real gripe about the show is how its rushed production cycle lead to an overuse of cg and bad cg at that.

tldr: an enjoyable isekai for anyone looking to watch something new, if you can look past the cg
