Hi! I read your review on Arifureta and I'd like to point out that the biggest problem most people have with the show is not the story (as a long-time reader of the novel I can attest that it does start to go downhill but that isn't until long after the first or even second season of anime would have ended), but the crappy animation. The way they animated any and all action scenes are just lazy.
The <spoiler>dragon fight<spoiler> is a great (or should I say crappy) example of this. The fight in the novel was exciting and showed off MC's overwhelming power. In his internal monologue, he was even saying he was holding back so he could use the dragon to demonstrate the difference in ability between him and his onlooking classmates. In the anime, however, he was shown to struggle quite a bit and the fight was dumbed down to a few lackluster exchanges. This isn't even going into the lack of any indication for many abilities he used in the fight, and absolutely abysmal CGI constantly used throughout the show.
Sorry for ranting, but I'd encourage you to rewatch the <spoiler>hydra fight and dragon fight<spoiler> with a more critical eye and you'll notice the ridiculously poor way they were animated. And if you liked the anime I'd also encourage you to read the novel or even the manga, because it does have a fun and entertaining story. The anime adaption just didn't live up to it.

I'm all for being optimistic about supposedly bad shows, but I think calling Arifureta anything better than a mess is giving it too much credit. Having read ahead where the story is heading, and considering there's only 3 episodes left, I don't see any way the show can redeem itself for it's butchering of story elements (leaving out important details in place of "comedy" or poorly directed action sequences). It doesn't help that I only read ahead because I couldn't understand why certain events occurred (which is what I mean by important plot points being left out). Basically, it's fine to be optimistic, but Arifureta is beyond help at this point lmao
