Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. (2019)
This was a hard-hitting story that is a true coming of age show. Some people hate this purely because they don't like cats and won't look at the story in a good light at all due to that. "I wish it was about the dog" yeah yeah whatever.
The story is pretty tragic for both the MC and the MC cat. They both have love and loss, so they become a pretty great matchup in this show. I was expecting this to be a light-hearted show not so serious and deep. As far as the story goes there
were a few moments I actually cried since it can be so beautiful.
The art is a very good standard for this sort of show. It isn't the extreme level of art you can see in other shows but it does its job to an excellent standard.
The sound is lovely and really brings out emotions, that said it was pretty standard regardless. Voices are done really well, especially with the animals. I loved Haru and her dialogues.
The characters are all very well developed and you care for them. You get some tropes of a younger sister of a friend having a clear crush that isn't expanded on. You get the female in the shop that you can see a spark of romance that again isn't expanded on. Personally, I think that is absolutely fine since this was not the purpose of the show. Perhaps in a season 2, since our MC needs to grow gradually and not too quickly.
The show from start to finish, whether from the MC perspective or Haru the cat is a really emotional, and loving story that truly shows a coming of age and regrets going forwards into life.
9/10. I doubt it will ever come up again but it was beautiful whilst it lasted.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus (2021)
This was not what I expected for CGI in 2021. At times the CGI is superb and really is a groundbreaking force towards what shows could do in kind. At other times, however, it is awful and shows a terrible reflection of what not to do. The main characters tend to be great all the way through but many side characters sometimes look like the lowest quality threshold possible.
The story is pretty generic but it is paced well and is pretty enjoyable. It was never going to truly end due to the extremely expansive world of Blade Runner. Many unexpected
things happen throughout the show.
The sound is beyond. The music used is of amazing quality and perfectly suited, it really gives emphasis to the show. The SFX is awesome; slicing, exploding etc sounds amazing. The voices are pretty top-notch too.
Whilst the show was never going to be a 9 or 10 it could have easily been a solid 8 had they not messed around and put more effort into its CGI.
7/10.

Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (2022)
Sort of confused about the presence of the dolls because they have literally no impact on the story apart from character placement. The MC could literally have been anyone with no friends that gets his world opened up. I would also like to question what Japan finds so impressive about people not realising they are in relationships. Yes, it is sort of innocent but at the same time, it is too clear to miss in this one. The traumatic childhood moment had no bearing on the broader story.
I would say the show I pretty fun, at one
point I expected a harem then it didn't happen and it stuck with a couple of scenarios and people with similar interests. I did think it flowed nicely through at a good pace though, even ending in a way that leaves it on a soft note of continuation but one that makes it clear enough that a season 2 just isn't on the cards.
The art style is good, it is very detailed and fun to watch.
The sound has a fun OP and ED and generally the sounds are pretty emotive which I like. The voices are full of fun too. The cast seemed to have enjoyed this one with such vibrant characters.
The show itself is enjoyable minus the things I mentioned at the beginning. Cliff hanger/not knowing you are in a relationship can work in many scenarios, I just don't think this one landed it very well. I think if they stretched this out into a season 2 it would be too much to try to keep an audience interested.
7/10. A good show, above average just not anything more.

Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? (2021)
The reviews kind of confuse me, like what is this really but a pretty mediocre twin story Isekai that does past and present at the same time whilst using some pretty dire CGI.
Story: Isekai with a class that is transported and you see 1 character get two simultaneous stories that are supposed to be some big reveal which is obvious from the beginning. This is due mainly to poor storytelling that leaves much to be desired.
The art isn't the worst and can be pretty fun at times, but even so, the CGI sucks so badly and becomes more
and more frequent as the show goes on. I mean how clunky soldiers march is just weird. Copy and paste, copy and paste.
The OP and ED are standard for an Isekai comedy style show. The voices are funny and good overall. The battles and such have 0 depth, like literally none. Not even a nice boom from an explosion through a sound system.
The characters are pretty dull, I didn't really feel like I cared about anyone, particularly as so much was done in 24 episodes that you sort of just don't really care about them. Like I cared about Wakaba in her past memories of being bullied but apart from that everything just sort of doesn't develop enough or just skips over things so quickly that you just sort of see characters appearing and disappearing.
Overall, for me, this is a 3. Whilst it isn't the worst looking and the story had good intentions it just sort of sucks from being pretty dull. There are far worse shows out there but I am glad I didn't watch this as it aired since that would have been a right struggle and a big pain.
3/10. Let's put this one in the back out the way.

Meikyuu Black Company (2021)
I knew this would be a speed run show, called it. Yes, that means the story essentially is a start to an ending of no return likely. I am not sure how they could come back from this really without it losing its vibe. For a show that covers so much so quickly it does it well because honestly, you don't really care about the characters because the story doesn't want or let you.
Isekai for a successful NEET that has got to a victory stage of life who then is pulled away from it in his prime to restart. You see
some nasty tactics used to then go through the climb to success again. It is a fast-paced show that covers a lot very quickly so pay attention.
The art style is actually very good and nicely done. It has some intensity to it but at the same time keeps a nice comedy value art style throughout. It could be better quality but it is above a good average overall.
The OP and ED are pretty damn fun to be fair. I really enjoyed them, that said outside of good voices that is all that really goes for sound, it is as basic as they come.
The characters are speed ran, they appear, get introduced and the story pushes forwards. Rim is awesome, I absolutely love when she gets the cloak and wriggles into it, CUTE.
Overall, a 7 and a pretty solid one. It was never meant to be a masterpiece but then it was never meant to be basic, just good.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T (2020)
An end to an era. I wish I had watched the entire thing in proper order but I didn't. I will watch this all again in the proper order since I enjoyed this so much with the index series together. I went into this thinking badly of Misaki Shokuhou because of a particular arc but turns out I was wrong and it all made sense. You have a fantastic set of characters in this.
The story is a continuation of the previous story and sits before the ending of the index series. It is a really good flow with various
arcs bringing it to a great ending.
The art style is great and has top-notch performance. When it drops quality it is on purpose for a comedic purpose.
The OP and ED are great, the ost is awesome and the acting is still at the high level the show has been before. This one just really pushes the boat out.
The characters are awesome here. You get some of the best shown here, Misaki is awesome, Misaka is great, and the sisters maintain their fantastic stance with the amazing way of speaking and in some real heart moving scenes, especially towards the last episode. In episode 21 you get one of the funniest scenes with Misaki and Misaka. Ryouko Kuriba is an amazing character and really cute too. Lots of cute girls here.
The overall ending of this is that it is a 10/10. What a show, try to watch it all in the proper order. Even if you watch index and railgun separately as I did, it is worth it still. You get a great mixture of stories. I do wish the owners would release a box set with the episodes in proper order from all parts of the franchise with all the OVAs too.
10/10.

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season Part 2 (2022)
Before people jump purely on the hype wagon, yes it is an amazing series but it does have kind of dull moments and times when you just wonder why the author went in that direction.
That said this is a fantastic season, I knew as a manga reader that it wouldn't be enough to cover the end. I was afraid it was going to be rushed and compressed but thankfully it has a part 3 to come so rejoice! Like many stories and especially ones as deep and complex as this you do get moments of almost
annoyance where things are slowed down for ages and times when a few manga pages seem to be 10 minutes but then a whole chapter feels like 30 seconds.
The art is brilliant and perfect for this type of show. Many different styles have been used in this series before but none as dark and gritty as this one. You really feel the art flowing here to make you experience the story. The wall titans though don't look as I would have expected, who are they based on, that would have been good to see.
The OP and ED are fantastic once again. The voices are superb and the ost and combat etc are just brilliant. On a surround sound system, you have to think of your neighbours sometimes. It really feels amazing to listen to this show.
By this point, characters are as developed as they are going to get. Nothing should surprise anyone about anything particularly, at least on established characters. You do get things that may surprise you but that comes down to how invested in the characters you were. Like I am not 100% sure who knocks up Historia but then that is such a minor point of no impact. The things characters go through in this one, especially with the characters' situations with friends etc, are amazing and seeing the people in Marley react to things is scary. Ymir Fritz is also awesome.
Overall for me it is a 9.8/10. I cannot wait for the part 3 to be honest. Roll on 2023.

Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki Part 2 (2022)
We had a good 7/8 until episode 13 came along and ruined the entire show with its mediocre display of absolutely pointless and unneeded expansion of a story arc that makes no real sense to include. Such vital information being withheld and theories that no one ever thought of. The story started getting a bit wacky but that took the biscuit.
The story is a continuation that gets more harem and less action in regards to the storyline. They seem to have given up with the meaningful expansion of making everything better in place of getting the
harem going. Demons, what demons?
The art is good mostly but can be a bit droopy at times.
The OP and ED are fine, generally sound is okay and the voices are fine.
The characters develop but into more of an OMG! get me pregnant first way instead of the storyline with the evil demons on their way.
Episode 13 crashed it from an 8 to a 5 for me. Totally pointless and ruined what was an okay time.
5/10.

Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san (2022)
This was a lot more fun of a show than I expected it to be, especially with the final episode which was a right fun episode.
The story is a simple day in the life of _____ sort of show. It is a fun time too.
The art is good and basic for the sort of show it is. If it was too crazy in detail it wouldn't suit this sort of show.
Whilst the sound lacks oomph it is fine but then also lacking. The sounds generally are pretty fun.
The characters are just wild and unexpected which makes for
a great time.
Honestly, the show is good nothing more. It feels like if it was in the 1990s/2000s it would be a serious show but here in 2022 it is not and that makes it so much better.
7/10.

Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu (2022)
This is essentially a different version of 'How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom'. Perhaps this is going to be a new phase of shows that we see, just like how many Isekai exist too.
The story is fine and does a nice job with its flow and keeps on track for the most part with the aims and expectations of the show. It does get a bit confusing at times with how quickly it tries to progress.
The art is the biggest issue, one minute it is fantastically average then suddenly it nosedives through the floor. Battles
especially feel like the cutscenes from the 1990s you get on a handheld device game.
The sound has no oomph to it at all, battles are dull, voices are fine and the OST is ok?
Characters develop well throughout the story, it perhaps introduces too many characters since arcs feel skipped or incomplete at many stages. I like the dynamic of almost having a harem but not having one at all in its own way. Pretty vanilla, which is nice to see for a change.
In the end, it is a solid 5/10. It does what it does well and sucks at everything else.
