Trickster: Edogawa Ranpo "Shounen Tanteidan" yori

Kogorou Akechi is the founder of a private investigation firm known as the Boy Detectives' Club. Together, this group takes on cases both great and small. One of their junior members, Kensuke Hanasaki, is out solving a case one day when he happens upon Yoshio Kobayashi, a mysterious amnesiac boy with an inability to die. After seeing his abilities in action, Kensuke offers Yoshio a deal: join the Boy Detectives' Club and help them solve cases, and in exchange he will find a way to help Yoshio die.

The apathetic Yoshio accepts this deal begrudgingly, unaware of how different his life will become. Although he does not have much use for people, he gradually begins to acknowledge the group as he spends more time with them while solving cases.

Trickster: Edogawa Ranpo "Shounen Tanteidan" yori follows Akechi and the rest of the Boy Detectives' Club as they solve the various cases they are given, all while combating a hidden threat from the shadows—"The Fiend with Twenty Faces."

I really don't understand how can this masterpiece show has such bad reviews. Animes these days are not even that good and it has great reviews and this amazing show like trickster has mixed feelings reviews like what is this shit? I'm so fucking angry.

This show deserves a s2 srlys. The way it portrays the story and the character developments are crazy sick!! The plot is interesting the story is amazing even the characters? I fell in love with them. How can anyone hate this masterpiece anime?

I normally don't write reviews, but I had to on this one. If you think it's not enough, go ... watch it yourself! It may not be your cup of tea but it's worth watching than all the trash animes that are happening. (No offense!!) I just love this anime! ♡

Definitely would recommend!!

Mixed Feelings

I started the show with great expectations, the synopsis had grabbed my attention and the first few episodes were pretty good. But everything went downhill after episode 12, in my opinion. I originally thought the show would be focused on Yoshio's past and why he has his powers/ability to not die. But no. It started out well, explaining the situation and pacing the story in a nice pace. But after that, the story was focused all on Akechi's side. I didn't expect it, and I disliked it.

The show hadn't made me grow to like any character yet, and then it gave me this whole conflict ... of Akechi and his brother along with a whole city all together for many episodes. I didn't shed a single tear or feel sad for the main character.

After that arc, the story began focusing on the leader of the detective club and his issues which led to the final climax of the whole story. Not enough screen time was given to Yoshio, whom I thought was the main point of the series. Instead, it was focused on the leader of the club and his background and conflicts with others. Sure, there was an episode where Yoshio got to feel pain, and another episode where we finally got to know his past which got me really excited. But that was all. Even Yoshio said himself that he didn't want to learn more about his past which might fit his personality, but I was sad about it.

I thought the story would be focused on Yoshio and the club solving cases together, but I was wrong. Since I started the series with this mindset, I didn't grow to care for the other characters, thus ruining the whole show for me. But even still, I did watch the series all the way to the end and honestly, it was mediocre. I'm not gonna lie, its not the best, but its also not the worst. I believe the score MAL users gave for this anime was worth it. And that's why I also gave this anime a 6.

I won't bother myself from writing an entire essay on this anime, for others have already done so, but I'll share few brief opinions, one of which is the fact that the plot is a totally mediocre.

2. Roughly 85% of the characters are just straight bland and/or don't even bother, which brings down the enjoyment to 7, after all character interactions is one of the most important aspects, which is a complete fail in this anime.

3. Hanasaki's character just keeps on getting annoying as he starts to face problems and develops, which is the reverse purpose of character development which is to create a emotional ... connection. It is as if I'm watching a little kid play hero, who is playing too hard on their character that is becomes straight annoying and cringe. This brought down my enjoyment to 6.

4. The Art - it is average, but flawed in many aspects. The stages and character positions, it all felt awkward many times and just made me think "wtf". This is especially true further in the anime. This personally brought my enjoyment down to 5.

5. The music is fairly average compared to many anime out there, though the soundtrack that was often heard when the 20 face fiend and Akechi interacted was fairly good, which brought the score for music to 6.

6. The story has many many many stupid, wtf, and obvious plot holes that were produced due to a fairly poor and lazy story this anime offered, those plot holes also contributed to the annoyance that is Hanasaki, and the lowering of my enjoyment.

7. The only real enjoyment came from Kobayashi, Kaijin, the interactions between kaijin and Akechi, and the psychiatrist dude. The others were just boring and annoying. So many of them were there just for the sake for the plot to progress, which contributed to the lazy plot. By the by the b***h slap Hanasaki received brought me some joy to my heart.

Well, I'm sure not many going to see this, and probably not any going to care. I'm simply content to finally to be free from that annoyance I felt from Hanasaki. Either way, my opinion on this show is here, and anyone is free to read it and think what they will.

-- Out of 10 for recommendation for whether to or not to watch this anime, I'd say 3.
