Based on COLOPL's school action role-playing game. Set in the year 2045. The world has been contaminated by Irousu (mysterious invaders who suddenly appeared), and humans find themselves restricted and contained. Standing boldly against these invaders are ordinary girls everywhere, without a powerful army or even weapons.
The Shinjugamine Girls Academy is a school for these "Hoshimori" (Star Guardians) destined to fight the Irousu. The player is assigned to this academy to train the girls and take back the contaminated Earth. And so, once again, the chimes echo through the sun-strewn schoolyard to mark the beginning of classes today...
If I could describe this show in one word, it would probably be "alright". If you want to watch cute girls with giant weapons fight weird monster things, this is probably your cup of tea. But if it's not, there's really nothing else noteworthy about this show that you would be missing. The art is pretty but generic, the characters are tropey and one-sided, the music is par for the course, and the enemies are just kinda there for no reason. You seeing a trend here? Everything about this show just shouts "ok". Is that necessarily bad? Well, not really. But it's certainly not
good either. It's a watchable show, but why would you when there's so many other good shows airing this season?
I have a method to enjoy this kind of anime. I watch them as if I'm watching Power Puff Girls (PPG is far better than this though). You know, not for the deep plot, well-developed story or gorgeous and animative battles, but simply because the cute girls are there, kyun-kyun moe-moe all over the place, unharmed.
- Many lovely unique girls playing around to please the weeb inside of you.
- Amazing cast. If you're into anime for a year or two now you'll regconize many familiar voices. Most characters are played by well-known and talented seiyuu.
- Well, shallow and boring most of the
- Mediocre artworks, mediocre designs, mediocre soundtracks, mediocre pretty much everything.
This is okay, or maybe even slightly good to watch, if you don't expect too much and just want to peacefully pass the free time you don't know how to spend.
You know when you watch an anime and you wonder, 'what the fuck happened?' this is one of those moments.
Now bear with me as I can't review this properly for certain reasons here's why, WHO THE FUCK ENCODED THE SUBS FOR THIS SHOW!
Like seriously did they get a monkey to do this fuck Caesar would have more success than this shit. If you don't know what I mean just watch the first two episodes and you'll understand.
The encoding for the subs in this show are fucking terrible. I am not joking when they're subs literally talking about another show entirely and I mean another
show! Whilst watching this I wanted to rip my hair out.
Trust me when see sentences popping up when no one is talking or when yourself clearly that the characters speaking aren't saying what the subs are showing you have a problem. And I can't believe for the life of me why no one has mentioned this elsewhere.
Am I watching the wrong show, if so where's the real someone please give the link!
When you see subs showing shit like Kamidao, Lotti King, Fortress Of Darkness whatever fuck it is, Grandpa's when there's not any on screen ever. Like who the fuck is the Messenger of the Divine?! Who are these people?! What the fuck going on?!
I like there are scenes where for instance one of girls is walking in her hand is a carrier bag of veggies then all of a sudden it pops up with science at the top........what?
There's even a moment where the word English pops up in the middle of the screen when no ones talking, if you don't believe me look fucking thing yourself.
There's multiple times when Kamidao Festival pops up on your screen like an advertisement.
It even got to the point where I honestly thought I was developing a mental condition, and I went back to shows like Fate/Apocrypha, Princess Principal etc honestly thinking there was something wrong with me (thankfully it's the show)
Like how the fuck anyone could fuck up something so simple is just beyond me but, it's not all bad at least I can say that.
The art and the sound is good they're not spectacular or ground-breaking they're at the level they should be this day and age. The fight scenes are okay don't expect anything out of this world on that department.
(It's bad when the subs in the show don't even you names of characters from that show but, instead a different show) The only reasons as to why I'll continue to watch is the long red headed girl with the red mecha claw.
You'll only enjoy this if you ignore the subs and enjoy the show whilst trying to guess the hell's happening through certain scenes, words and body language (works the brain though!). If you can't do that then wait until this shitshow of a fuck up on someone's part is fixed or an English dub if there is one.
