Kimi to Boku. 2

Wow!
You know, usually season 2 of any anime is weaker or the same as season 1, but "Kimi to Boku 2" pleasantly surprised me. It is deeper than season 1. And more adult, what the guys themselves have become. Even Tachibana showed his serious side and I started liked him (a bit...). There are even less fun as in season 1, but it was so interesting to watch how guys grows up... I would like to watch them forever (ok, maybe their student life and such...). I need more of this heart warming story.

If you liked season 1, then you definitely will watch season 2. ... If you didn't liked season 1, then, maybe, you will find what you miss in season 2? After all, I think there are some moments which could be revealed in season 3 or side stories... For example about their teacher Azuma and his friend Akira. About Masaki and... someone else.

I wonder how interesting all characters are. You think you already know them from season 1, but watching season 2 you realize that there is still a lot to discover and even in the end you understand that you don't know each character good and don't know what to expect from them, because they are still too young and still change as life does.

If the first season left a light sweet aftertaste of warmth, then the second one is definitely richer and more viscous.

So sad to think that I've just finished a top 10, maybe even top 3, Slice of Life anime. Kimi to Boku effortlessly kept it's quality throughout it's 2nd season.

As per usual, the OST is 10/10. The art style is cosy, with warm colours and simplistic character design (doesn't take away from the fact that the twins are considered good looking for their age). The characters maintained their personality and I was so immersed with the progression of the story that it didn't hit me until a lot later on that Mary AND Chizuru had undergone character development. So, you can bet I was impressed ... that they had gotten me to gradually like and even adore a character that I had previously liked (with a strong passion lol).

Yuta, Yuki and Kaname's VAs are flawless (nothing new here). Both soothing and easy to listen to. And the show perfectly developed the twins' characters and personalities so much that at times, I could distinguish who was speaking just by the words that were said and the context. And that can be said about all the main characters.

Kimi to Boku is one of the best Slice of Life's I've ever watched. I would've gladly watched 50+ more episodes of the 5, going through their life, interacting with new people and deepening their friendship with each other. It's relatable, feels strangely nostalgic at times and extremely, extremely charming. The art style, characters, plot and OST all together make a very good, balanced SoL that's worked its way up my 'comfort anime' list.

I can't remember what originally got me interested in this show, but I'm glad it did. Although it's not a serious show, it will teach you some things and will charm you like no other. Before you know it, it will be a show that you will wish to watch on days you're down, feeling nostalgic or just because you want to watch something easy-going and GOOD (my GOD it's GOOD).

I couldn't recommend a better SoL (at least, nothing is coming to my head). Easy 9/10, and maybe when I come back to rewatch, I'll change my rating :) (To a 10/10, obviously)

You and Me Season 2 (2/10): I know this rating might upset you so I would direct you to the video description on how to better understand my rating system. Now it is time to scamper headfirst into this spoiler filled review.

Where season one was a big pile of unresolved garbage season two of You and Me is a smaller pile of poorly resolved garbage. The animation is a tad better and there appears to be more cuts to cats than in the previous season but the tired attempts at comedy, ... toxic friendship dynamics, and painfully slow pacing are back in full force.

Little blond guy and little angry girl have some tense exchanges that lose all weight when they are left hanging in the wind to dry while nothing else of consequence is happening. Although her development later on with finally gaining some friends is nice. The twins are quarreling but don’t worry because the characters haven’t changed since childhood, and actions taken in kindergarten still help to make awful characters somehow not awful. The lunch lady plotline of shared interest between a high schooler and an older woman is interesting but ultimately goes nowhere. The little brother plotline is the most interesting but is held back by the lack of acceptance from the effeminate brother that fails to produce any meaningful dialogue past “don’t be a bad boy.” Glasses guys love troubles with his older childhood friend is the most coherent story line but it is still ultimately underwhelming, it would have been interesting to have had the problem arise earlier to see how it would have informed his character. The last episode shoots for a feeling of fear of the future which feels halfhearted and watered down as I still failed to relate to any of the characters. Lastly there is a special place in hell for whoever greenlit the ninth episode “Mix Juice,” never have I felt so bored and condescended to in an anime.

Final verdict, it sucks but at least it presented some more coherent ideas and completed them. Don’t watch it.
