Both of these Anime are about soccer. Both Anime have rather detailed drawing styles, one more so then the other.

These are sports Anime that aired around the same time. They have each a realistic style that are different from each other. The characters are also quirky.

Both animes are centered around sports. The main character is male. Both become stronger throughout the anime.

Main character has hidden talent. He joins an elite school. Throughout the series, you will see them get stronger. Great characters in both series. One series is volleyball and the other soccer.

The main characters are both influenced by a "ghost" who is a prodigy in the sports/games

Both anime are very similar even if they cover different sports. First of all both MC's are training very hard and they have turning points of careers. They are trying to do as best as they can with a little help of people around them. Similarities: - chasing high goals - friendship - rivalry - training - young people

Both of these sports anime are just as much about the characters' lives outside of a match, especially family relationships and a bit of romance. The main characters in both stories are heavily impacted by events in the past. The overall feelings of the two shows are a little different (Area no Kinshi leans heavily on the drama, while Mix is more laid-back) and of course they feature different sports. But while watching Mix I am frequently reminded of Area no Kinshi and it's worth checking out one if you liked the other.

Again good sportsmanship always wins, genius defeating talent

Good sportsmanship always wins irregardless, goes to show that talent is that which you have but genius is that which has us certainly without any uncertainty, average good folks with good sportsmanship may actually defeat talented not so good ones

While not featuring the same sports, both these series shares that competitive atmosphere among its team members as they strive to climb that ladder of success. The main male protagonist from both series often tries his best to play the sports that they love. They're also friends with another main male protagonist who rivals him in terms of skills. Both series' female characters are also dominant on the field and often tries their best to succeed as well. There is comedy, drama, and a little romance thrown in some episodes for these series. Additionally, both series features past events that sometimes affects the way games go. In essence,  read more

Both are about football and can also be categorized as 'high school anime', something the creator of this series purposely left out of Captain Tsubasa. It deals with relationships (both romantic and friendship), growing and learning about football as the series goes.

Both are sports based anime.. similar art .. both heroes used to be losers but get introduced to the sport or motivated to play ... by the girl they like.. Hope area no kishi will be as awesome as Over Drive

Am surprised that no one mentioned it yet. Yes, Major is not about soccer but baseball. However, the main connection lies in main heroes backgrounds. Both of them lose someone very dear to them who were really good at sports they were doing but never reached the dream they wanted. Now it is main heroes jobs to take over that dream and move forward in their sport career.

In terms of being a soccer anime. But i think Area is different in a point that it is a most deeper story than captain tsubasa.

Both male protagonists are a "genius" in their specified sport. However, they start off hopeless and grow with each game and each new encounter. Both contain similar themes and have a somewhat mutual love interest. If you enjoy the sport, you'll love the anime.

even though its comparing BASEBALL & SOCCER,they are both similar because mihashi and kakeru are not CONFIDENT,but they both posess "skill" some of their teammates have the same persnalities, both touching stories, their both after the same thing............i know thier not exactly to the point similar ,but i think if you enjoy area no kishi "knight in the area",you will also realy enjoy watching ookiku Furikabutte"the big wingup" :)
