- Since anime is a cursed medium where single stories are split into endless sequels and OVAs, I usually find it easier to just score the first entry as a "series score". Exceptions made where there's a notable difference in quality between entries, e.g Gintama/One Punch Man.
- Generally the only characters I dislike are ones that author clearly tries to portray as likeable/endearing/funny but are unlikable anyway. The most common offender of this are tsunderes, so I don't like sincere/unironic portrayals of them. If a show uses the archetype in a self aware or parody manner then I'm usually fine with them. I don't really care about murderous villains serving their narrative purpose of being hate sinks.
- I prefer to experience all voiced media in its original language, but I still like to acknowledge some dubs as making more sense/being more tolerable than others. If an anime/game is set in Japan with Japanese characters with Japanese names that constantly reference Japanese locales/things then dubs are particularly cringe and embarrassing. Especially when they force in suffixes into English language voice lines, which is obviously more "weeb" than a Japanese person just speaking Japanese. On the other hand if a game is set in a more generic sci-fi or fantasy setting, then dubs actually make sense. e.g Fire Emblem being dubbed > Persona being dubbed.
- I have a fondness for anything in media that can surprise me. I have my own (possibly flawed) idea of what constitutes as the norm for a given genre and will appreciate things that subvert my expectations. Sometimes I'll even make a pointless comment in a long dead episode discussion thread when something tickles my fancy in this way! (I used to watch stuff while it was airing but not so much any more).
- I consider some media "character focused" and others "story focused", not as an objective quantifier but just in what I end up prioritizing them personally. My fav characters will disproportionately be from the former category, since I consider appreciating a characters role in a narrative I like different from actually liking them. e.g I love the compelling mystery stories in the Ace Attorney games but would not consider any of the characters among my favs. Whereas something like Grisaia does have a story, but the characters are 90% of the draw for me and I consider pretty much the entire cast among my favs. This is something of a sliding scale rather than an absolute split.
Ah, on the art of Rikka Flurries and Rikka Tranquility. I have Kanzashi the Rikka Queen though. She's also the prettiest among the cards lol. Apparently they are a rehash of the vanilla monster, Seiyaryu (Holy Night (Christmas) Dragon) and the entire archetype is a Christmas tribute
It's very fun to use having the ace card jump up and down from the field. I also wouldn't call it OP, but it can be competitive imo
Going back to that winter / christmas theme we were previously talking about. Perhaps that archetype is my go to this year lol
When you say recovery, do you mean how the cards refer to each other and trigger a running combo?
I do have steam and I might consider playing MD there instead lol. Or other games, idk
I suck at Warcraft lmao. Probably from lack of Experience. In Yuri's Revenge I play mostly as the Yuri Infantry, no dogs but when I take the opp's bases I finish their soldiers by feeding them to the dogs LMAO
Thanks, the winter theme (well they're all technically winter themes haha)
Vanquish Soul is the one that works like BEWD alternative yes? And Mikanko is the Ritual Battle Phase thingy? The latter sounds more fascinating to try. I've only been trying out Rikka, Hieratic, Aromage and Starry Knights on DL. I also have a Lightsworn deck
I don't have experience to relate but enough toxicity from the modern playstyle makes it easy enough to understand. I've had many losses where I already countered most of the opp's possible plays and they still have an ace up their sleeve, ugh
The voice is kind of weak. The first screams of the game reminded me of Dota/Warcraft and it's funny because I bought a new pc last month and I had the old Warcraft game added to it as well as Red Alert / Yuri's Revenge. I've been spending too much time on it than anything lol
Nah lol. I change themes every christmas. The first one I did was back in 2020.. That 2023 one I showed you with the Love Live theme follows a spoiler format shaped like a Christmas Tree. It was a callback to this first one I did
LMAO THAT'S A GOOD IDEA. I should've started learning how to use Simochi back when Aromage was also a high tier deck in PVP.
That's a bit unsurprising. Orcust is very annoying especially with that field spell. Too many moves, and it's not even your turn. It was, ... Well, is probably but then again I can't say since I barely do pvp anymore
lmao. 1 new deck every 6 months huh? What were they?
Ah so it's an offshoot of the Atlantean archetype? I tried to make one but I only have one copy of Deep Sea Diva for now
I listened to the sub and dub versions. I can't hear her distinctively since it's just screaming lol
I think I've seen Team APS do that before. But I've watched a lot of their duels so I don't really remember which is which. I do remember one video wherein they played dice vs coin which was hilariously interesting
and this:
But recently I've been more into the presidents MD battle
There's an actual playlist tournament of this ^ It's pretty interesting
And of course, there's this
which is based from this
Which was a theme I loved so much I made 2 profiles of it last year: classic / modern. Damn I just got goosebumps looking at it. It's so beautiful I remember being so happy making it
Yeah lmao. As you said before the GY is essentially another hand these days. Hence why Necrovalley has become quite the annoyance. Well, Unless they use "send" effects like Dingirsu / Dakini, I don't have a reason to special summon a Timelord from the GY. However I am considering adding back Infinite Light and the other Timelord cards back to the deck.
Do you still have the quantity list of your old Nurse Burn deck cards? I remember you sent me that before but I didn't really understand the playstyle so if you have a video I might as well take a look at it
LMAO tryhard. I wouldn't call it that. It can be pretty OP on its own, unless we deal with toxic players ofc haha. Soul Release is intentionally put in there. I needed it to beef my Valkyries and I also have Soul Absorption in there. Speaking of banishing my recent Orcust decks kind of work the same way minus the overpowered ATK points

at the time, yes but nowadays I see more Sky Striker afaik. I haven't been playing pvp for almost a month since I focus more on maxing the characters through ai and ai duels get more experience vs pvp (although pvp gets more gems so I grind that when I want better cards although I can just pay for it)
Out of all those decks I don't recall you talking about Phantasm Spiral and Mikanko, what are those about? LMAO that's literally a dragon ball reference! And oddly reminds me of Nibiru for some reason
Yes, but when each stage is accessed for the first time the tag partner is AI and you have to win the championship with it once before going at it again but this time you now have access to all the available tag partners and you can have them both be controlled manually
Looks like Mario. How come you say this character is notable? Is this another Ojousama character?
Some of Go Rush's contents references Sevens characters and archetypes and Sevens in turn does the same for the rest of the franchise so it's not necessarily 1 year old.
I had forgotten to mention that the nerfing of the Galaxy Skill was precisely why I had to move to another archetype, and with Absolute Zero being the only one missing on the game, it was high time to start using Heroes. I later switched to Timelords after being acquainted with the skill, "Fairy's Smile" which works best with this archetype
That's true. I am currently on my day off from work. I wonder if he played during his free time and I wonder what he'll say next when we meet each other lol. DL can be very slow during the tutorial phase though
Yes, if not for the nerfing. I would argue Galaxy can easily beat even Timelords. There's actually a new skill called Photon Dragon Advent but I kinda don't want to go back to my ex-deck lmao. Kinda gives me a bitter aftertaste
That too. So I guess the correct timeline is BEWD > Gaia > Ancient Gear > Melodious > Galaxy-Eyes > Superheavy Samurai > Elemental Heroes > Timelords. From my understanding of how the archetypes and the summoning mechanics work in general I was generally against Synchro and Xyz since Fusion (ie. Red-Eyes Fusion) can come in clutch but laying down materials was kind of risky so I didn't want to use those two (and later Links) because I was not used to how each individual archetype works. So, looking for the easy way out I guess that's what led me to timelords which
> does not use chains / combos / many cards
> immune to conventional card removal
> no need to rely on ed or most spells and traps
> basically a deck for lazy cowards lol
SS would have to be the only Synchro deck I've used in PVP that's competitive enough but ofc I have used others before: Junk, Resonators, T.G., Dragunity, Speedroids, etc.
Talking about Machines and Synchros reminded me of this epic duel lol
Is that some kind of a youtube channel? Yes, in DL Solomon Muto uses that and it's fucking annoying. I think I had to use Ancient Gear or Jinzo to win through his event
I honestly don't even like Incarnate. Useless piece of ass and slow as fuck. If only there was Snake Rain for Exodia then we can use Backup soldier to add them all to the hand
I used to use this a lot for summoning stuff like Aqua Spirit or just any of the old cards that work like that. It also helps in using Monster Reborn or Call of the Haunted to special summon from the grave instead of tributing
Damn that one is not on DL, Darklord Asmodeus is not either. I was expecting DL to have them all but apparently they also have a fusion monster and that too is not in the game. I had Yubel use this deck since I see some vibe between her and Ixchel, I also happened to look at Ixchel lewds online and well, some were kinda disappointing but some did have their uh.. effects on me hahaha. I wish they'd add Dragonmaids here so I can finally test it out for myself.
One of my coworkers recently downloaded MD and saw me playing DL at work, he thought it was the same and I was really having a hard time explaining how it is to him. He's a Yugiboomer who recently just picked it up after collecting some fake cards in the 2000s. I want to enjoy stuff with him without showing the part of me that has been corrupted by the modern playstyle lmao. Do you remember the time I showed you a video of me playing PvP with someone who was using a Necrofear deck? I was using a Valkyrie deck and I specifically chose this for two reasons
1.) Want to enjoy the game without using op stuff like Galaxy or Timelords
2.) Want to extend the game with back and forths, and also have a chance to lose since I considered that Valkyrie deck to be B-tier (amongst everything I own)
But the thing is, after Erda is special summoned, the opp is kinda fucked unless they can get rid of her, which his deck couldn't. His was generally still attack based and relied of ye olde special summon without using today's underhanded tactics like repetitive burns or banishing
This is that duel btw
Have you experienced using this deck by yourself? I upgraded my Reptilliane deck to include Dark Alligator and Snake Rain and that's as far as I go with Tokens for now
I agree, in this video:
you can also see them using BEWD as the mascot on the thumbnail. As a fan I would disagree but let's admit that the average person who doesn't know shit about YGO probably is aware of BEWD, at least...or Exodia. Kuriboh would be my next choice
That card kind of reminded me of this for some reason. I have a feeling the MD stimulations and DL skills are covering something. So I guess it really gets THAT toxic in MD huh? haha.
OH Wait, I was also thinking of Saffira Queen of Dragons but I couldn't remember the name until seeing that archetype. Kinda bummed it was only a few cards
But to get back to the main question, I guess I should say Galaxy-Eyes, it has the right balance of Defensive + Offensiveness back when the original Xyz galaxy was out. But they had to nerf the skill to make way for link monsters smh
Ah, so it's format in the tournament sense. I thought it was a whole new format like say Speed Duel vs Rush Duel. That kind of a drastic change. Speaking of Playground Yugioh. I remember having a fake "Dark Dust Spirit" as a trap card. I always used it to piss my brother off. Imagine my surprise upon downloading Duel Academy only to see it be an Effect Monster, and one that requires tributes too lol
I didn't get the sweaty jokes lol. Is it comparing the general gameplays?
Having those stipulations would be nice, but when a new deck / event happens here it's just promotion. Unless you have major nerfs like what I just said with Galaxy-Eyes, you only get fomo, as they discourage your deck but ofc that it's stopping anyone. I literally saw someone use an E-Hero deck before on a 5D's event that heavily promotes Synchros. And when I saw someone using Meklords, well they were just getting desperate
speaking of that event. Luckily I still have it on my playlist:
oh damn, thanks for reminding me. This was one of my best pvp decks too! I literally made my way to the top and finished that Synchro pvp event thanks to this deck.
I wish I had used yt to begin with, there were some good duels I had on google drive that I deleted because you already saw them. You remember that time I was beaten by a desperate Nekroz Player? He literally milled through his deck at about 500 LP and managed to turn tables lmao
these ones are pretty good too. Damn I miss Synchro Summoning lol
This is the duel that let me win the tournament lol
Oh I stopped talking about floodgates. I was talking about how fun it is to stop a combo / skill. Hence the video. Although I guess that is still connected to floodgates
just like this lol
I don't, but LMAO that's for the suggestion!
Here is the deck that uses that archetype:
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links
Character: Sherry LeBlanc Deck Name: Robinsnakes Galleria Deck Type: Speed Duel Skill: Skill Not Set Deck Quantity: 27 (max. 38)

Effect Monsters: 17

Trap Cards: 2
The Cards
Effect Monsters:

x2 x3 x3

and the video of me using it.
Having Snake Rain on it will greatly increase the attack of the Evil Dragon card. This suggestion is just in time lol
I remember the name but was that the one that uses tokens? I can only think of Mecha Phantom concerning this archetype, as already mentioned lol
Well yeah because bewd and dm are essentially the mascots of the franchise, speaking of: what is your answer to this?
I was just minding my business the other day and a thought came to mind. I realized they could do to the three God cards what they recently did to exodia. Have support cards that can be treated as Divine when they are on the field so that other cards can experience being divine. A field spell that adds a God card. A continuous spell / effect monster that makes an additional normal summon. A continuous spell / effect monster that deals with the requirement of three tributes. Or just like the Ra support card, special summon the fucking gods regardless, then slap the field with Horakthy. And in addition, add a Divine Attribute Exodia, a Divine Attribute Neos (since there is one, albeit only in name) or remaster the gods themselves with new support cards just like with Volcanic. We could use 7 new divine monsters
3 gods
Horakthy
Exodia
Neos
Zorc?
If they really want to blow up they should make stuff like this so tribute summoning is respected again, although I guess they technically did that through Flowandereeze, Magikey, Constellar and the entire Rush Genre. speaking of Rush I got the divine archetype / tribute summoning idea from this Rush Duel archetype
Each of my pvp decks have had their glory days tbh. I started with BEWD and was bullying players with Neo Ultimates effect then essentially the same with trap immunity / piercing with Ancient Gear. Same with Gaia and Magical Knight's effect destruction ability was pretty handy. However I later became defensive with Melodious by generally relying on Bloom Diva but I also used Bloom Prima sometimes. Later I transitioned to Galaxy Eyes and was reliant on "Photon Stream of Destruction" so I had to ensure I always had the og dragon on the field. Then I got even more defensive with Timelords and floodgates. I am considering using Orcust next but I don't have enough confidence on that one yet. I won some duels using Amazoness and considered switching to it until I got a losing streak, which made me go back to Timelords.
Technically they are. Combos run real hard when supported by skills. And it gets really hilarious when stopped
I had to dig far back to get a sample lol
Speaking of Tokens, Mecha Phantom is in DL. I should give that a try. I've recently built a Reptilliane deck and it has this on it. This, This and this are some of their best cards.
LMAO I think it's because the skill got my LP at 9000 and he figured he'd deck out eventually. I wanna say Jet Dragon should be added to DL but Kaiba DSOD already has threepowerfulskills related to that archetype. And frankly I've had enough seeing the white lizard and I wanna try out new archetypes for once. Back then when I was new to DL I had many BEWD decks and Pendulum decks and barely used Ritual Summoning. Now my DL stats says that the number of times I've used Pends are now even less than Rituals lol
They can't lol. I don't even win 20% of the time. I only play for the gems haha. I've been fucked since Mekk-Knights were a thing, and that was a long time ago
I was somewhat good even in pvp with Muskets so I kind of get it. Striker indeed does look very versatile. I guess I'll have to try it out someday
Did you mention something about doing playground YGO? I barely know most things from that era. As embarrassing as it sounds I only understood the rules starting from Arc-V (which I saw in 2020) so for the most part I was only watching it for the anime aspect
I guess it depends. One can always use a DL Meta deck then play as Yubel. But if you mean following the decks her skills work best, then ofc no. Yubel's E Hero deck, which is the most recent, only has Super Poly to scare me but I now have Celestial Transformation to allow me to instantly sub a new timelord in case one gets sent back to my hand, kaiju'd or banished
Most DL stuff is only meta because of the floodgates tbh. If World Legacy's Secret and stuff that works like it (Book of Moon) weren't there I'd easily be on the top. Heck I even lose to Tenyi sometimes even though I played the living hell out of one of them before:
oh extra
Zombies are actually part of the DL Trend now. AlGhoul Mazera, this and this guy being the top cards. I can agree, Blue-Eyes itself has some GY boosts, as well as Madolche which we just talked about. Heck even T.G. has that
Damn, that's true. Even in the archetype videos from TGS anime this gets mentioned, like how most archetypes have a searchable field spell or some shit like that. One Archetype mentioned in that video, Sky Striker, is actually in DL right now and is fucking annoying. It looks similar in playstyle to Magical Muskets, but let me ask. Have you used this archetype before?
Wow that's pretty interesting. So they're basically like Bewd Alternative huh? and they even have a dragon? Although since I'm not really a gamer I can't really appreciate this that much lol
There's actually this thing called Legacy Duels in Yugioh. Relies mainly on Normal/Tribute Summoning and old but beefy yugioh spells like Tribute to the Doomed or Dark Hole. Funny because that's kind of what Rush Duels does right now
No, I've seen it a few times used by AI then myself but never in pfp. Megalith + Metalfoes huh? Wonder how that works
This is Yubel's profile on the YGO Wikia: https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Yubel_(Duel_Links) you can see her decks there. But during the time I was talking about, this was the deck I was using:
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links

I think in DL that exorcist thingy wouldn't be as much of a stumbling block compared to Necrovalley but indeed it is going to be really annoying hahaha
The way you described Libromancer kind of reminds me of the Armaggedon Archetype, they have a continuous trap and a quick-play spell that can ritual summon during the battle phase
Yeah, Metalfoes does that. Their Fusion card as well as one of their monsters literally do that. I haven't really had a good Madolche deck but I guess I should get to it someday. Mirrorjade isn't on DL yet sadly
Technically, yes. It's not a guarantee but there are bundles where you can pay for a number of packs + a special card or rarity and obviously it runs down the cards on sale getting you more chances to get the cards you want
True, still salty about Duel Masters, Wish I got to see on their anime how they too spiraled into a complex set of rules just like YGO did
Yeah lol, all that white stuff is very annoying
I play DL and I don't even know about that, must be obtainable through some skill. The newest pack has support for Sherry's deck (Noble Knights and Fleur Synchron), Sky Strikers and a reptile archetype, ogdoad or whatever it is called
Fujoshi may no longer be as loud as they once were but damn BL still sells lmao. Women :coffee:
I first saw Aster use this in DL and I thought it was DPE. Was kinda hyped, expecting to have my own Destiny Hero deck soon but as of the moment we only have Masked, Vision and Elemental Heroes
True, the pain of going through all those packs just to make a good deck. And then some dream tickets makes all the effort worthless, especially the ones that can be bought with money
I just realized a few days ago that this anime I'm rewatching, Mon Colle Knights apparently is another ad for a card game but that indeed was the 2000s fad, with YGO, Duel Masters and all the other toy anime
Thanks to a skill called "Fortress Bound to Shadow" I've had the luxury of reusing and updating some pendulum decks, Yosenju, Abyss Actor, Performapal, D.D., Igknights, Metalfoes, Solfachord, Dinomist and Deskbot to name a few. Personally although Links are indeed easier, recently I'm more of a synchro guy. Used to be xyz but yeah lol
I've downloaded it on my phone, it feels DAMN weird hearing Kadowaki play her lol. But it definitely is a thing, so there is that lol
I had that anime on ptw, looks interesting. Gave me feels of Ishuzoku Reviewers lol
Really? ptw then lol
no wonder you had some creative weird names. DPEgenerate will be the most memorable to me I think

Just like the 2023 one which has a modern layout partnered with it. The 2022 one comes in a pair too. classic / modern

The 2024 one, as of the moment could be a callback to this violet love live one or this yellow marimite one, which I also did in 2022. I hope I still have what it takes when that time comes

This is the duel that let me win the tournament lol
just like this lol
I don't, but LMAO that's for the suggestion!
Here is the deck that uses that archetype:
Character: Sherry LeBlanc
Deck Name: Robinsnakes Galleria
Deck Type: Speed Duel
Skill: Skill Not Set
Deck Quantity: 27 (max. 38)
Effect Monsters:
Spell & Trap Cards:
Extra Deck:
and the video of me using it.
I wanna say Jet Dragon should be added to DL but Kaiba DSOD already has three powerful skills related to that archetype.
How different is Goat format to today's btw?
Character: Yubel
Deck Name: Neos Necros Cradle
Deck Type: Speed Duel
Skill: Eternal Bond
Deck Quantity: 28 (max. 38)
Normal Monsters:
Effect Monsters:
Spell & Trap Cards:
Extra Deck:
Right now I have Yubel use a Abyss Actor, D/D/D and a Darklord deck but I haven't added them here yet
Character: Yubel
Deck Name: Call of Destruction
Skill: Painful Evolution
Total Cards: 28 (max. 37)
Effect Monsters:
Pendulum Monsters:
Spell & Trap Cards:
Extra Deck:
I was using "Sky Dragoons of Dragonia"'s effect to trigger Yubel's Evolution. I later had it changed to a Fire King deck which essentially works the same way:
Character: Yubel
Deck Name: Suffering of the Wiseman
Skill: N/A
Total Cards: 20 (max. 37)
Normal Monsters:
Effect Monsters:
Spell & Trap Cards:
I think in DL that exorcist thingy wouldn't be as much of a stumbling block compared to Necrovalley but indeed it is going to be really annoying hahaha
The way you described Libromancer kind of reminds me of the Armaggedon Archetype, they have a continuous trap and a quick-play spell that can ritual summon during the battle phase
Yeah, Metalfoes does that. Their Fusion card as well as one of their monsters literally do that. I haven't really had a good Madolche deck but I guess I should get to it someday. Mirrorjade isn't on DL yet sadly
Vomiting kinda reminds me of Madolche, which..when you consider the playstyle makes you think they swallow what they vomit. Ewww
Perhaps. I need more of her cards though, to even think of pulling that off. Now it's back to an Xyz/Barian themed game and it's kinda boring lol
Tell me more about this archetype lol
Yeah, I got my Timelord / Yubel ass handed back to me with that archetype lol
