About PhillyFlash
My name is Jeff Branch and I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A retired military member (Navy), I'm a big fan of anime, manga, sports, movies, comic books and cable documentary shows. I also enjoy pop and classic rock music from the 60's through the 80's with my favorite group being Pink Lady, the legendary Japanese song and dance pop duo from the late 70's.

When it comes to anime, I've been enjoying it pretty much all my life as I remember sitting in front of my TV watching the likes of Marine Boy, Prince Planet and Speed Racer back in the 60's, of course, I had no idea I was watching anime back then. Today, I enjoy all sorts of genres: slice of life (Clannad), shoujo (Peach Girl), mecha (Gundam Wing), horror (Hell Girl), humor (Excel Saga), fantasy (Magic Knight Rayearth), sci-fi (Ghost in the Shell), yuri (Strawberry Panic), girls with guns (Noir), you name it, I've tried it at least once. HA! That's the true magic of anime, that there's something for everyone to enjoy!

Even though I'm an old fart (50 and counting), I don't look at myself as someone for whom something like anime has passed me by because of my advanced age, I don't accept that. At the end of the day, you're only as old as you feel, and I feel like a kid when enjoying the greatness that's anime!

The classics never go out of style...so in honor of Ray Manzarek, a founding member of The Doors...an all time classic L.A. band. May he rest in peace.

Two of my favorite songs from the Doors: Jim Morrison was such a babe in his prime <3

Something of beauty...something to ponder. ^^

"Like every other moment of your life, the first taste is an epic event in disguise..."

You are too kind but if you insist. ^^ When Tex-Mex was all the rage, well, so were the Texas Tornados. Lead singer has since died as well as Freddy Fender who was the guy with the salt and pepper bushy hairdo. ^^ Flaco Jimenez is still very popular though up in age. He has won something like seven grammys for his accordian style of playing as evidenced here.

Anyway thanks for being a good sport when it comes to my spamming your wall!

Yes, it's tax time again and time to re-read this oldie but very goodie!!!!

Subject: Tax Auditor

At the end of the tax year, the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a local hospital. While the IRS agent was checking the books, he turned to the CFO of the hospital and said:

"I notice you buy a lot of bandages. What do you do with the end of the roll when there's too little left to be of any use?"

"Good question," noted the CFO. "We save them up and send them back to the bandage company and every once in a while, they send us a free roll."

"Oh," replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way."What about all these plaster purchases? What do you do with what's left over after setting a cast on a patient?"

"Ah, yes," replied the CFO, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. "We save it and send it back to the manufacturer and every so often they will send us a free bag of plaster."

"I see," replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all CFO. "Well," he went on, "What do you do with all the remains from the circumcision surgeries?"

"Here, too, we do not waste," answered the CFO. "What we do is save all the little foreskins and send them to the IRS office, and about once a year, they send us a complete prick."

One of my crazy cousins from Arizona sent it to me and I am passing it on to you all.
