Long time no talk lol

As for your question, I tend to rate the story of anime based on how they tackle their own story. That's why when I rate anime with grander than life stories but failed to execute the grandness of the story, then I'll rate it harshly.
Vice versa. With simpler story, I tend to be lax with how I rate them because I rate them with how few plot holes/something something they made in their entirety. If it has less than the fingers that I have, then that'll make for a good score.

For both categories, Mushoku Tensei and KnY fits them respectively. Mushoku Tensei manages to maintain the grandness of it's story while keeping it interesting and complex with grand lore and world-building. While KnY keeps it plot short enough just to introduce this epic grander than life fights that is simple enough for everyone to enjoy and appreciate.
Both are at the extreme end of either sides of spectrum and they excel at what they needed to be.

For characters, that also ties in with how the anime executes its stories. If it's a simple one, then I rate them with how much I enjoy their personality, how much do I remember them, and how much they develop (cause simpler stories mostly leads up to character-driven stories which I adore very much).
For complex stories, the characters tend to be just pieces or pawns created just to move the plot forward. So I rate how important and how crucial the characters are on that story, and see if replacing that said characters with a cardboard changes everything. If nothing changes, then that character is prob worthless and shouldn't exist in such complex plot in the first place, and if not then that character is great and serve it's purpose in the story.

Well, basically I'm the type of guy who appreciates simple and complex things alike.
I mean, I do have Ginga Eiyuu and Love Live Sunshine in my favorites. Both series are basically the opposite in terms of storytelling, yet I enjoyed the story and characters for both just as much.

Before I give some recommendations, are you okay with manhuas(chinese mangas) and webtoons?
number1kaworufan Aug 2, 2021 6:34 AM
Ultimately, that choice is up to you. I'm looking forward to our affinity in the future though (if you'll add scores)

Btw I see you've started a few manhwas. I've read a couple hundred. If you ever want to talk about anything or need some recommendations, I have a few.
number1kaworufan Jul 27, 2021 1:03 AM
Damn. Are you gonna input new scores or leave them blank?
number1kaworufan Jul 26, 2021 9:03 AM
Long time dude. You changed your profile photo so I didn't recognize you at first lool.

What happened to our affinity though :((

I mean, it's good that you found that much anime to watch
That means you have a long way to go before you get bored from anime lol
ren0080 Jul 24, 2021 9:03 AM
That's still a good progress though
You'll finish those 284 anime in no time I guarantee lol
ren0080 Jul 24, 2021 8:45 AM
Lmao careful not to forget watching them hahaha
ren0080 Jul 24, 2021 4:02 AM
Lol
I'm the opposite I guess. If an anime is a banger, I'd put it on hold for a long time because it'd be a shame to finish it quickly (i.e. Space Brothers, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Aria, etch.)
ren0080 Jul 23, 2021 4:55 PM
Welp, my only tip is to avoid watching anime you know you might dislike
Though I guess that's common sense lmao
ren0080 Jul 22, 2021 3:42 PM
The same reason why my mean score is pretty low lmao

Well, seriously speaking, I just don't like dropping anime. I always have hope towards anime I'm watching that they'd get better as it goes. Also, I'm a completionist(prob butchered the spelling) so yeah, I don't like having incompletes in my watchlist, as well as pretty much everything.
Though I had watched some anime that I am very close at dropping because I was either too bored or just don't like anything in that anime lol
