Seiyuu Miyoko Asou Dies

Talent Agency Haikyo has announced that seiyuu Miyoko Asou died in the morning of Saturday August 25 from senility. She was 92 years old. The funeral was done privately among family and friends.

Born in April 7, 1926, Asou joined a theatrical company for children in 1949. She voiced Fune Isono for the long-running anime Sazae-san since the beginning on October 1969 to September 2015. She also voiced Sannoba from Bounen no Xamdou, Cologne from the Ranma ½ series, Ice Maiden Elder from Yuu☆Yuu☆Hakusho, Pinako Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist series, and more. Her recent role was Mayumi Niikura from Mahoutsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito. She also narrates in a quiz variety show Wafuu Souhonke, as well as an stage actress. She has won Special Lifetime Achievement Award on 6th Annual Seiyuu Awards in 2012.

Seems like this parade into the afterlife will continue for some time. At which point 'anime is dead' might no longer be a punchline.
