With those sales what is the chance for Re:Zero getting 2nd season ?!

Aug 10, 2016 7:29 AM by thepath

Rezero is slowly but surely taking on more sales. I'm loving the tail on vol. 1. It would be awesome if somehow the show managed a 10k average, but I doubt it will get it. Either way great to see it selling.

Its funny when ppl are laughing at Phantom World and calling it a flop when in reality Kyoani takes all the profit or a big majority of it. While Shaft explodes in sales and it all goes to Aniplex.

Learn about different business models before thinking Phantom World is a flop.

Originals like KyoAni creates are risky because while they do get more profits if the show is a success, they also saddle on more of a cost if the show does not do well and Phantom World is not doing well at all.

I might be inclined to go back to my Persona 3 forum set. Is this like the only anime series based on a game that sold well? I can't remember any other game adaptations being well received.

Does Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children count? Because it sold quite a lot IIRC.

It has an entry on MAL, so let's say it counts. Fate/Stay Night (ufotable version) also had very high sales.

Nice. The Persona 3 movies more than deserves the success. They ranked well in the Japanese box office and sold a great amount of BDs/DVDs. Easily the best video game adaptation i've ever seen.

So Osomatsu-san is that popular, huh? I'm thinking about binge watching it sometime with all the acclaim it's been getting.

more re zero plox we need to keep MALs salt % high

So how are the pre orders for the summer titles doing? any of them above 10k? except for Love Live

Based on ranking performance at Amazon and other retailers, Summer 2016 can be summed up as "Love Live!, then B-PROJECT, and everything else". B-PROJECT seems to have the best shot at being the 2nd 10K of the season, provided it has a huge underestimation. Its Animate performance has been pretty good, although not as good as Love Live!

Who knows, there might be some miracle breakthrough, but it's already close to half-way through the season.

Honestly? It looks pretty dire, probably even worse than spring. Then again we're only about 1/3 into the anime season.

The only show I can see having a shot to scratch 10k is probably B-PROJECT. It's a show with a big female audience so stalker is likely to underestimate it due to the massive presence of animate.

Only 6 shows are even in the top 500.
Love Live dominates, as expected, and is already pretty much confirmed to be far above 10k. ( 2 entries in top 50 )
B-PROJECT ( 1 entry in top 50, 1 in top 200
Mob Psycho ( 1 entry in top 200 )
New Game ( 1 entry in top 300 )
Thunderbolt Fantasy ( 1 entry in top 500 )
Danganronpa 3 ( 1 entry in top 500 )

The rest is above in the rankings between 1k-10k.

Maybe some event ticket reveals and pre-order bonuses as well as box cover reveals will boost some more shows.

They give an alright indication of how popular a show is. Can you name one show that sold a lot of bluray copies but was a flop otherwise?

No, at least I don't remember right now, but all around case is quite common. For instance, something like Nanatsu no Taizai, which didn't sell much compared to its popularity, or ERASED, or even something Rokka No Yusha, they made a good money even if they didn't sell lots of BD, and that's just a couple anime I had on the tip of my tong. Not to mention long running shows like dragon ball super or World Trigger.
Now, I could bet my dick, that something like Musaigen no Phantom World wasn't that bad for KyoAni as the BD sales show.

BD sales do not exactly indicate the popularity, but instead they show more the re-watch value and the general amount of hardcore fans. There are many other factors, of course.

Yes, but you should consider that KyoAny does not sale much merchandise and their LNs are not particularly popular,m son the main profit probably goes from BD/DVD sales.

It makes me happy to see Kiznaiver's......not-so-stellar sales. It even sold less than Divine Garbage Gate lol.

BD sales are not that important, anyways. It's not where the primary income comes.

Digital distribution is growing exponentially, BD will die soon anyways.

P.S Old data, but the tendency is clear
