WOW..I can't wait to wach this movie..I may have the same feeling I had when I listened to Anohana movie's ED ( since Kokosake have the same director and the same sound director and the same character designer + Shigatsu's composer)

Why would that have anything to do with the movie itself, its just a tie in
Edited..

@hoppy: well maybe you understand a bit more why I'm troubled about the anime industry so much because I feel like the big producers who are largely involved in the Japanese music industry as well are bringing that exploitative culture into anime and it makes it kind of hard to support it or feel positive about things lately when I know seiyuu and animators have to work like dogs to line these producers with monster egos pockets while they practically brag about it and rub it in peoples faces with the advertising. People just call me a hater but its like sorry I try to be positive when I can but its hard to be okay knowing the things I know now and seeing the sheer arrogance of anime producers these days.

The industry needs some major reforms, it's getting out of hand. I've seen pictures of Kanna Hashimoto and several of Yui Ogura just looking absolutely exhausted, the poor dears are sleep deprived by their managers, don't they know sleep wards off disease, that's why quite a few seiyuu and idols have died in the past 5 years, they get little sleep and worked to exhaustion almost daily and it's costing them their health and sometimes life. Giving them ample time to sleep won't reduce profits and would be infinitely better for their company image.

One other thing and maybe EJC can answer this but what is this band C-ute's anime tie up even supposed to be? Ditto Perfume, AKB48's Halloween Night and NMB48's Mae Nomeri? Like seriously I have no idea, at least with Nogizaka46 I know it's ostensibly supposed to be the ED to Anthem of The Heart though really I'd hardly consider it Anisong either.

This particular single has no anime relation according to the Oricon website and on Oricon Youtaiju. It just says this on Oricon Youtaiju:

So as usual, an artist is included because they happened to have done something anime-related before (theme song for a 2006 long running anime), and it is more convenient for MAL to do as little filtering as possible. I would understand the inclusion if they were anime seiyuu, but really they shouldn't be on here this time.

It also doesn't help that those folks who run those are some of the worst corporate tyrants around, on similar levels to Bernie Madoff and the too big to fail banks like Freddie Mac back when the economic crisis begun. How people support levels of tyranny that can be compared to legendary scams and full on economically crippling events is beyond me.

Japan really continues to be locked in hard on those 48 and Johnny's type bands. No wonder I hear Japanese people complaining fairly often that the guy that founded the 48's Yasushi Akimoto is ruining the Japanese music scene and are trying to boycott his appointment to the Olympic committee. The general complaint seems to be about how even he admits it's not about the music but the fantasy of pretty manufactured idols you can meet and feel like they are a part of your life. Apparently he's just like the most domineering producer pretty much ever and has total control over everything related to all the 48 groups from Lyrics, Composition, booking venues, what they wear, what they say, literally their entire lives and careers are all just really him behind the scenes.

After learning a lot about this I've also come to realize that Love Live is essentially running through similar beats as to how that whole thing took off only it has the decency to make it about fictional idols so it doesn't have to fuck up real young girls lives and careers with scandals and schedules and all kinds of shit that only seems like it could ever fly in the entertainment business.

Why does the AKB business model work? In basic terms, how were you able to sell one million singles on the first day of release?

I often say we need to have content that is striking. What do I mean by that? It’s something that quickly grabs hold of you and doesn’t let you go. At first, there were only seven people in the audience at the AKB theater [for the band's first-ever show in its own purpose-built theater], and I wasn’t worried at all. All I wanted to know was whether those seven people liked what they saw. If they really liked it and were impressed, then I knew the number of people would grow. AKB48 are different from other ordinary artists in that they provoke this kind of feeling. That is one major reason why they have become so successful. I think the closest comparison is with die-hard baseball fans – they go to the key games no matter what it takes…it’s the same kind of feeling with AKB48. You can tell your favorite girl that their dancing has improved, or their singing has got better, or that they’d look better with short hair. The fans are also a part of the production team for AKB. That sense of solidarity, of being on the same team, is why it’s fun. Of course, having multiple types of CDs may be part of the reason why AKB catches peoples’ attention…but lots of artists do that. That alone would not make the CDs sell.

I find this kind of stuff interesting and revealing if a little unsettling. People can read the rest here if they are curious.

By the way, this is the highest first week sales for a male idol series, that doesn't have an anime. So these sales are incredible, considering it exceeded many people's expectations of 20K sales. This could be the next UtaPri...

Seriously? That's some fantastic news. Really happy for Enstars then.
Now it is time to pray for the anime.

℃-ute selling almost 70k, nice. Interesting that they beat μ's, but μ's sold well considering the songs are specifically for the game.

Considering ℃-ute's most previous single sold 60,689 in the first week, this is not too surprising. Yes, they did beat μ's this time in first week sales, but barely by 319 copies...

It's more impressive that μ's sold almost 70K in the first week for the 2nd mobile game single, because the 1st mobile game single only sold 36,925 in the first week. That one sold 98,224 after 30 weeks, but achieved gold disc certification from the RIAJ for shipping 100K copies (shipped copies is always >= sold copies).

Clearly the movie singles had more pulling power for sales, as almost 2 million people has seen the movie in Japan. The mobile game may have between 12 million to 13 million players in Japan (>20 million players worldwide), but only around 1.2~1.3 million are active players. The rest are casuals, so I think with that in mind... 70K first week is pretty good. This one should be the 9th Love Live CD to achieve gold disc certification from the RIAJ, breaking the tie it has with K-ON!.
