Set in an imaginary world, the Earth Land, there exists a Mage Guild called "Fairy Tail." Fairy Tail is stationed in the town Magnolia, residing in the Kingdom of Fiore, and is currently governed by Makarov, Guild's master.

Lucy Heartfilia, a 17-year old girl, wishes to become a full-fledged mage and join one of the most prestigious Mage Guilds in the world, Fairy Tail.

One day, out of pure coincidence, she meets Natsu Dragneel, a boy who is transportation-sick, but very cheerful in nature. However, the thing she does not know is that Natsu is the closest connection to Fairy Tail, as he is a Mage in Fairy Tail.

(Note: This review is ONLY for the manga. I won't discuss about the things that happen in the anime (like fillers))

Fairy Tail, an immensely popular manga, criticized by many and also loved by many. Fairy Tail is another one of those shounen where it seems to do couple of things right, but also disappoints in other aspects.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all will be familiar with the main plot. For those who don't know, there is a synopsis on MAL which you should check out.

Story- 6/10
Fairy Tail is divided up into arcs, and each arcs have a good plot at first. What I mean read more

It's funny to talk about Fairy Tail, because, what in the middle of the series, became one of the most interesting and enjoyable shonens (even with the monstruous fanservices), it later became one of the most clichéd and exagerated mangas around. And I mean, today, it has embraced, if not all, most of the clichés that exist today...

I believe everyone may be aware of the plot, in general, so, I'll skip to the main points of my review:

Hiro Mashima knows very well how to estabilish a good plot, with various mysteries for you to wonder, etc. The problem is in the development of it. Most read more

A replica of One Piece? Seems like it
Worth reading? Yes

Fairy Tail undertakes another fantasy setting. I have always been skeptic of fantasy anime's as most of them is always obscure, and prone to be uninteresting as the story progresses. But that mistake isnt repeated here in Fairy Tail as Hiro Mashima performs excellent on making his own fantasy world out of thin air.

In this manga, all sorts of mages roam about the world. Some of them even bond together and form a guild that takes requests from people in exchange for money, there are even such guilds that are "dark", who are not among the read more

I first started Fairy Tail because all my friends were like: "You love One Piece, you'll LOVE this!" I thought it would be a rip-off of my favorite series and went into it with very low expectations. However, only a few chapters in, my attitude changed significantly!

This series is reasonably new so the story is only just started, however what there is so far is great! A lot is still open and YET TO HAPPEN and I find myself excited to find out what happens next. The jokes are original and don't get stale and the overall tone of the series read more

Manga: One Piece
Both have a similar character art style and talk big about friendship or "nakama." And both main leads are general idiots most of the time, both are great.

Manga: Groove Adventure Rave
Both have the same author, and the artwork at the end is almost same as that in Fairy Tail.
Great story with tons of lovable characters!

Manga: Buster Keel!
Both mangas have a guy that can transform into a dragon (Natsu uses dragon slayer magic and Keel is actually a dragon in human form). There is a cute girl who uses other characters to fight (Lucy with her spirits and Ravi with monsters). "Blue" - the name of the water guy in "Buster Keel" is similar to Grey in Fairy Tail. Blue and Keel don't get along, just like how Natsu and Grey argue all the time.
In both mangas, there is also a guild for information and work and levels for each job.
In Buster Keel, the protagonist are all  read more

Manga: Monster Hunter Orage
Both manga's have similar characters which in both manga's do quests to earn money, or just for fun. In Monster Hunter Orage there's more of a goal then in Fairy Tail, which varies from time to time.

Manga: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Both have: - Endless adventure based on the nakama powah and fights plus power upgrades. - A group of friends with powers with similar personalities (Ali/Natsu= energetic guy plus comic relief that gets fired up when its needed; Alladin/Wendy plus Lucy=A blue haired kid that seems weak but its not and its main goal is to make friends/ and is capable of summoning a helper(Genie/key spirit); Morgiana/Erza= serious and strong, fights like hell and has a tragic past related to slavery and bullying; Sinbad/Gray: Likes to strip a lot; Kougyoku/Juvia: has a crush on the guy that likes to strip and has the power of water, also  read more

Manga: Black Clover
Magic exists as a prominent element in both Fairy Tail and Black Cover. The main characters utilizes this during the story to accomplish a variety of feats. Both series also follows an adventurous tale where there's brewing rivalries, antagonism, and mysterious secrets. In terms of battle style, expect shounen action with magical mechanics.
