So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

I'm impressed with Love Live's performance, another week, it's already above 25k. I wonder how much will next volumes sell. Yay, GuP v3 30k! (forgot about DVD at first) Chuunibyou is dropping every week, I expected more consistency from it. 14k average is obvious but it might not get 15k if final volume (with bonus ep 13) has small boost. Tamako had ~20% drop but hopefully it will stay above 3k first week. |

j0x said: This LN has an author who is quite well known but the LN itself is not well known, so there is not much fan base in the first place. The character designs somehow did not get much enthusiasm from fans before the season started, so this could impact the initial interest. The first 4 episodes or so, and especially the first episode, looked confusing and directionless even for fans in Japan, and the mythology references with the bunch of explanations also sounded tedious to them (not all Japanese are well-versed or interested in Japanese mythology). Of course the random and sudden turn of events also got some fans to find it tiresome. As is the "brother" whose face is always hidden. It was only after the Sasami's mother's arc that feedback turned decisively positive when the theme and world setting became clear and with focus placed on Kagami and later Jou. But by then it was too late as the anime itself had turned into an "air anime" (an anime that is basically not talked about much). Sasami-san@Ganbaranai is underrated even in Japan now im curious why One thing this anime shows us is that whether an anime sells well or not does not depend so much on which studio or director does it and more on what fans actually think once they watch it. Another thing to note is that whether a certain character design appeals to fans is something that can be hard to tell. The anime itself is full of cute or moe moments, but it does not really help much in terms of sales. Personally I think it is a hidden gem of the last season and I enjoyed the series a lot, but apparently a lot of fans in Japan do not think so, and the sales suffers as a result. |

6, **,880 **,880 Boku no Imouto wa "Osaka Okan" Too bad it didn't do better. It came with the bonus episode Boku no Imouto wa "Osaka Okan": Uchi no Onii-chan wa Tokyo Rule #1, seemingly implying that there could be a season of her brother's Tokyo Rules since they called it #1 rather than Osaka Okan #13 or just special episode. Loved the bonus episode! The Asumi Kana interview is great. The unfuzzed endings are what I'd been hoping for as well. And the uncut drama and ending song CD is great too. Very pleased with it myself, too bad it didn't even break 1000 sales :( |

I'm sure amazon would gladly have another 5K copies of each; if you had them right now they'd buy them off you. The real blame needs to go to the producers who can't keep up with demand. They've known about the pre-orders for weeks and months and yet they can't keep up. I'm just glad I put my order for Gup and LL! in 2.5 months ago so my copies on on their way... |

Go Psycho-Pass and Chuu2byou. Kind of surprised that Osaka Okan outsold GaruPan though. Or am I reading the list wrong or confused or something. Whatever. I'm also surprised with Tamako Market's sales. Considering the sales of the first two volumes, I'm amazed that it sold this much for the third... Winter anime sales depress me. But when Spring anime sales come along... |

So you can see that this week Osaka Okan got 880 sales while Girls Und Panzer v3 got 856 sales but the 3rd column is total sales and there, since it came out 4 weeks ago, Girls Und Panzer v3 beats it handily by almost 29000 sales... I wish Osaka Okan had 29000 sales LOL |

It's nice to see Kamisama Hajimemashita too though. :DDDD Is it too much to hope for a second season? They DID kind of foreshadow the Yukiji thing. Edit: I'm editing for a really stupid reason I just really have to correct my typo, I meant outsold not outside, stupid autoshit. Aasdjfasdkf I know this is extremely pointless but I have OCD for these things and can't let them slide. |

It sold only 800 copies, what's so surprising? 880 and one of those is mine so don't sell it short LOL It's an anime and it is sold on disc so why shouldn't it be on the list??? Shorts are anime's too! This one actually has 45 minutes of anime on it as it has no OP and each ED is sung differently so I say it counts as new each episode otherwise you could knock 6 minutes off as they are just 30s each. Teekyuu which sold much better actually only has 18 minutes of unique anime once you remove the OP, go figure... but I love and own Teekyuu too. |

Oricon Daily Top 20 BD/Top 30 DVD Rankings for Apr 23. Evangelion 3.33 on top as expected. GaruPan beats out SAO on BD! Will it be enough to dominate when DVDs come in to play? Stalker estimate for Macross FB7 doesn't put Love Live! to good light... but since Love Live! is more storefront loaded, it will probably rank better tomorrow. For all we know, Macross FB7 may be quite underestimated too. Little Busters! we know is also more storefront loaded, so it will probably rank above TLR: D in the next few days. It also usually does better on BD, with TLR:D catching up with its DVD. Hetalia ranking below SAO means it could probably do 4.5~5k... but it could be storefront loaded as well. Tomorrow's rankings and the next few days will be quite interesting, lol. Let's see if this will really happen for GirlPan v4 vs SAO v7.GaruPan beats out SAO on BD! Will it be enough to dominate when DVDs come in to play? |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Let's see if this will really happen for GirlPan v4 vs SAO v7.GaruPan beats out SAO on BD! Will it be enough to dominate when DVDs come in to play? That could very well happen. SAO v6 is at ~32k with GaruPan v3 at ~30.8k, it is very close now. It all comes down to if they printed more GaruPan v4 copies than they did for v3. It looks like they definitely did print more v3 copies as it is still not completely/almost completely dead like v1 and v2 are on Amazon. So that is an upside to this. ------------------------------------------------ Checking back on all the Apr 24 releases, which were temporarily out of stock on Amazon at 12am earlier. Comparing GaruPan v3 with v4 restock dates. We have a restock date now! v3: Mar 22 (release) -> 21 days -> Apr 12 -> 14 days -> Apr 26 -> 11 days -> May 7 v4: Apr 24 (release) -> 19 days -> May 13 Love Live! v2 has the same restock interval as v1. SAO BD v7 is uncertain now. TLR:D v5 is still out of it. GaruPan v4: In stock on May 13, 2013 (BD), Temporarily out of stock (DVD) Love Live! BD v2: In stock on April 26, 2013 SAO v7: Usually ships within 2 to 5 weeks (BD), Temporarily out of stock (DVD) To Love-Ru Darkness BD+DVD v5: Temporarily out of stock |

Yes! More psycho-pass support equals a second season! Director claims they'll make a second season if the show gets enough support. |

jmal said: Oh, Arashi is DVD only I guess. No wonder it beat Evangelion on DVD then. If it were split I would expect Eva on top for both. Arashi concert DVDs always sold above 550k on the first week. Even if we merge bluray/dvd numbers for EVA, Arashi will still top it. At least on the first week based on your prediction of 450k. Eventually EVA will caught up in the next months. Arashi will stop charting around 750k and EVA will chart until 830k. Thank god boyband fans don't buy blurays. And DVD sales are on a different category. Btw 2.22 is currently at 836,338 copies. |

Oricon Daily Top 20 BD/Top 30 DVD Rankings for Apr 24. Evangelion 3.33 still on top for anime as expected. The reason it is not #1 on DVD for All Genres was answered earlier in this thread. GaruPan still beating out SAO on BD. It will be very close when sales comes out with the SAO DVD normally selling 4~5 times more than GaruPan DVD. As I expected, Love Live! ranks better on release day at the expense of Macross FB7, since it is storefront biased. Little Busters! also overtakes To Love-Ru Darkness as expected for the same reason. ViviPan also ranks higher... Hetalia I also suspected to be storefront biased, so it ranks above SAO on Apr 24.
