I have 2 questions.

What happened between the 1st and 2nd Gig -I mean, is it in a movie or they just jumped to the 2nd, being the 1st episode kind of a resume-?

What's the best order to watch ALL Ghost in the Shell (movies, tv series)

-GitS (movie #1)
-GitS 2: Innocence

-GitS: SAC 1st Gig
-GitS: SAC 1st Gig - Tachikoma Na Hibi
Necesary? > GitS SAC: The Laughing Man ?
-GitS: SAC 2nd Gig
-GitS: SAC 2nd Gig - Tachikoma Na Hibi
Necesary? > GitS SAC: Individual Eleven ?
-GitS SAC: Solid State Society

...?

Hi there!

To help you get answers to your questions, first things first. The GitS films meaning the 1995 and 2003 movies were directed by Mamouru Oshii while the 3rd film was a spinoff of the Stand Alone Complex (TV series), actually it was a sort of continuation of 2nd Gig (2nd season of the Stand Alone Complex TV series). Oshii and Kamiyama have different directing styles, Oshii has the more darker and philosophical approach while Kamiyama is more attuned to our time. He does rely on philosophy and influential literary works of art, in my opinion both are good with their own unique brand of interpreting GitS.

After the events of the 1st Season (S9 got disbanded temporarily and was re-organized after 6 months), I believe the team laid low for a while that's why in the 1st episode of 2nd Gig Aramaki was asking the new Prime Minister to give him authority to deal with the hostage situation at the Chinese Embassy. Aramaki had to get good favors from the new PM and he bargained that if he resolved the hostage situation succesfully he be given funding to rebuild, improve and increase the manpower of Section 9. I hope that explained the events in between 1st and 2nd Gig, lets just say nothing much happened.

By the way, the Laughing Man and Individual Eleven are just scenes taken from the series and condensed into a movie format. So its nothing new, maybe alteration of a few dialogue but nothing that you wont miss with the series. Lets just say its Bandai's way of getting more for their Dollar or Yen.

Hope I was of help, if you have other questions, please let me know. =)

Thanks, a lot!
I supposed they stayed away from problems for a while, but I don't know what happened to the prior PM (from the first season). Did he go to jail?

I kind of remember the DA of his trial being shown on the second season, but

A last question. This one's about Kuze.

I just ended it this morning, including Solid State Society... Who the puppeter was, wow. Later, the first two movies ^__^!

Hi, to answer your last question: YES! Yes he was the kid from the Major's past. =)

Great first episode. Lots of cool action. Section 9 is up and running again, and best of all - the Tachikoma are back!
And I hope Motoko stays in these clothes. Her daring outfit in the first season annoyed me so much.. xD

After all my "meh not going to watch it" I end up watching this anyway out of boredom and am thus far pleasantly surprised. I'm not at all pleased to see the Tachikomas back, but if this season can stick to being a semi-political action thriller without being weighed down by too many mediocre individual story episodes like the first I should enjoy it. Also, Batou going Terry Tate Office Linebacker on that guy was badass.

Really liked the episode, despite the fact they put an incredible amount of talking at one part which felt forced glad to see section 9 and tachikomas back in action =D man I love this series.

A very good start the the sequel of a very good series.

First off, I really love the Opening. I ended up watching the OP / ED every time I watched an episode of Season 1, and I may do the same for the OP of 2nd GIG.

Secondly, Motoko was great as always. I loved her entrance and exit from the building, especially her jump at the end. I'll be sure to watch the movies so I can get the reference in this episode as well.

Thirdly, the Tachikomas are back! I personally loved them last season, and was very sad when they left. I bet Batou's really happy, especially considering everything that has happened last season.

Indeed good start, everyone's back and section is back on track. I already have a feeling on what this Individual Eleven thing might be, a number of individuals working as whole like a brain. It would be interesting.

also the animation and music is superb :P

definitely 10x better than the original SAC.

I can't believe the Tachikoma are back! I was kind of sad when they died in the first season T_T. And the graphics are so much better now! =D. It's hard to believe they were so confident they could rescue all the hostages with no casualties though haha. I think they still got kind of lucky.

Cool start. The art is greater than ever, but the non-fight animation seemed a bit hectic at times compared to S1. I guess the in-betweeners botched the work, hope it won't last. Sound design seemed a bit more basey too which is nice.

Decent start of this second season, I waited quite some time until I catches up with this second season as the first was to boring for me, I do feel that their boring way didn't change but well lets just see what it will be this time!

It's nice to see they do got a strong story development with having Section 9 come back and of course our lovely Tachikomas!

Nice reference to the original movie, love the little nods SAC does to the film. They kind of laid the groundwork for the overall plot this season with the refugees and the Individual Eleven which was something I didn't expect. Looking forward to the rest.

That was a well done assault. I don't why Togusa didn't aim for the head directly though.

Major being badass as always.

Start with a bang, always intriguing plot and ambiguous, as it always raises the same question as before: who is behind pulling the strings?
Compelling narrative and action-packed, Yay!
