Princess Mononoke still selling good, awesome. “There’s no way I’d come to like a girl with such strange horns. Then why did you… I told you I love unusual animals..” |

Oh lol, Ano Hana. Awesome. Well crying-stuff for the masses, but THAT much? Come on, that "drama" shouldn't sell... wait, forgot Angel Beats. Ok, I guess it does. Seriously, that's kinda bothersome. Why do people NOT need any emotional bonds with the characters first, to appreciate drama? "Hey, this is supposed to be sad for the characters, so CRY" shouldn't be enough. Nakige-formula! But then again, even "Key" went against that with AB! and it worked. (for the sales) |

AnoHana was good but that's way too much. And I guess Madoka Magica will have to keep providing the cash for Shaft because Denpa is understanbly not as big a seller. And KyoAni's Nichijou is oficially a flop it seems. Too bad since I liked it. |

Leon-Gun said: Its most like likely have drop about 1/3 for later episode anyway.AnoHana was good but that's way too much Around 25-30k is the likely averages. Btw overrated or not, its pleasing noitaminA can break the myth their anime isn't selling. And they need this badly after the rating drop-out. ![]() |

The first AnoHana disc only contained the first episode, thus it was almost half the price of a "full disc" (2-3 episodes). So yeah, the sales will probably drop with the next discs, but they're still awesome anyway. Btw. the sales were expected. It was as hyped in Japan as Madoka. Japanese anime fans even voted it the best anime of 2011 so far on Biglobe (Madoka was second). Modified by viral_hun, 07-05-11, 3:10 AM |

But doesn't the first disc being cheaper due to only having one episode actually a good thing? I mean sure you're paying more for the rest of the volumes but you're getting more than one episode as well. It certainly didn't hurt Tiger and Bunnys sales (but that was a total clusterfuck by Bandai) and the discount was nowhere near the extend of Merry Vol 1 (List Price of ¥ 2,699 compared to AnoHana's ¥ 4,200) As for it being voted over Madoka in Biglobe, it just ended, so I'll be more impressed if it can win an end of year poll when it doesn't have the "it just ended" factor and people have had time to compare and think about it. Leon-Gun said: Not a good seller? 8000 for Starchild produced shaft series is a big hit. It can easily get second season. Nichijou... lolDenpa is understanbly not as big a seller. And KyoAni's Nichijou is oficially a flop it seems. Too bad since I liked it. Plus, the true value of Ano Hana comes from execution and direction, not the story itself. I honestly find Steins;gate is a better one, but it's 2 cour and already doing plenty of good sales. |

Before Bake and Madoka... 8k for a SHAFT series was actually pretty damn good... would be their 3rd best series if they stay @ that figure. |

Oh please, who are you to say we had no emotional connection to the characters? AnoHana established that very early and very strongly and that's why it worked. Deal with it. Leon-Gun said: And I guess Madoka Magica will have to keep providing the cash for Shaft because Denpa is understanbly not as big a seller. Eh? 7.5k is a clear success. Shows like Madoka and Bake are skewing people's perceptions of what successful is... they're just, like, hyper successful. Westlo said: Before Bake and Madoka... 8k for a SHAFT series was actually pretty damn good... would be their 3rd best series if they stay @ that figure. Hidamari season three averaged 8,512 without counting the specials, so likely 4th. Edit - ah yeah, Negima!? as well at 8.6k as Suzuku notes. baito_senshi said: Oh my. Although this level of success is pretty amazing. Modified by jmal, 07-05-11, 5:28 AM BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

Wow~ AnoHana is unexpectedly doing really well! Guess it deserves it. Not bad, although I thought it would rank higher. |
