 A TV anime adaptation of shoujo manga Nijiiro Days (Rainbow Days) has been green-lit, according to this year's September issue of Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret. The series is both written and illustrated by Minami Mizuno and began publishing on January 13, 2012. According to the announcement, the cast will be the same as the drama CD adaptation. | Omg yeees! I didn't expect this manga to get an anime, but yeeees! Looking forward to it so much! Time to catch up on the manga! Matsuoka as Nacchan is fitting I think, as long as he uses a higher tone. Uchiyama Kouki and Eguchi Takuya seem pretty good too. Though Zakki as Kei-chan is lol. Kayano Ai in the cast makes me really happy as well. Can't wait~ This series is so cute and charming. |

| Umm. There is only one cute guy here. So it's not your cute guys doing cute things. Actually, the other boys are pretty twisted one way or the other compared to one guy. And they are major teases. Also, the supporting girls are cuter than the boys. It took me a while before I liked a certain supporting and annoying girl though (readers will know). This however, is not your breakthrough shoujo manga. Other than AkaYona and Shirayuki, there hasn't been any great manga for this demography that has been adapted to anime in recent years. It's good (more inclined to say okay, but it has its fun moments) but not great. There were quite a number of excellent shoujo manga that never got adapted as their serialization ended. This is also not Kimi to Boku. Kimi to Boku is a true gem in its genre which has very powerful way of executing the story as it is told. This doesn't have that. I would replace an adaptation of this with a Kimi to Boku S3 in a heartbeat. Sorry if it sounds I am ranting. I never recovered from the fact that Orange would never get an anime adaptation. |
