Wow, that male teacher is such an asshole. Mashiba was real cool though. He's such an awesome character. I love how he just splashed that guy and walked away without saying anything xD

Indeed he is. No wonder he enabled all of the bullying back then.

This chapter really points out Shouya will have to eventually tell Mashiba, Nagatsuka, and Sahara about the bullying.

Darn, I'm just depressed after this chapter...
I really don't like this movie-making arc even from the beginning, but this chapter just does it for me, i think i'll just skip this arc for a few chapters to pile up some story first, maybe it'll turn out better at the end... hopefully...

Excellent chapter, I'm so glad that teacher got what was coming to him! And he also saw how Shouya is not just friends with Nishimiya, but also communicates with her through sign language - it all went how I wanted it to go!

It's about time he told them about his bullying past, in my opinion. Although I'll be nervous when it does happen, or when they find out some other way. A manga has never sucked me in like this manga before :P

I really liked this chapter too. The mc is quite humble but yes he is good friends with her and learned sign language and it just showed that he did grow into a good guy. Mashiba is alright too.

Well i think he was also bullied before so he just doesn't/don't want someone to be bullied and can't stand people who doesn't do anything when someone is being bullied even they already know it, and i have to say he got balls to do it. And i hope our MC too should stand up more rather than just cover up his past mistakes

Good to be someone like Mashiba who just does what he thinks, so honest to his emotions, no need to think twice. Doesn't always work out but it does offload heaps of pressure off your shoulder.

I really like Mashiba but now I'm really scared, because he'll probably get into some conflict with the MC (perhaps over Nishimiya?).

I hope this will get an anime in like a year or 2, it deserves it sooo much.

Am I the only one thinking that Mashiba might have some serious issues of his own? While acting like this might be "cool" it's hardly normal.

Mashida's reaction to the teacher is perfectly understandable, remember he was a victim of bullying himself and it is quite probable that the teachers in his school did nothing to stop it. I suspect that a lot of the motivation for his wanting to become a teacher lies in that experience of being bullied in the past. Another chapter full of feels...Ishida doesn't take the drastic action that Mashiba does, but he feels it just as much. I wonder what the other teacher in the staff room who witnessed this all thinks about it...and whether we'll see something more come out of this. On to the next chapter in a mini-marathon...
Please don't feed the trolls!

That funny though, because he suddenly splash water to the teacher.

Shouya really did grow into such fine young man.

Mashiba is amazing, and that unrealized tension between him and Shouya is leaving me feeling nervous. Mashiba is bound to find out eventually.

Yes it appears the teacher in some way was a dick, but from his point of view, it was a difficult situation too. First his class was burden with someone who was deaf which based on the situation in the early chapters, they were obviously not able to cope with. Secondly it was true, that Shouya was a bully, but so was the rest of the class. If he was to help Shouko in her situation, he would have to convince the rest of the class whose relationship was already breaking down with certain classmates. It might be that he was just a simple teacher who was not that passionate, but no reason for Mashiba to do that to him.

First time posting in the manga discussion forums! Didn't think I'd need to since I've watched the movie twice and it feels really similar... up until this point. A lot of scenes were left out from the movie (understandably).

I don't really like this whole movie-making thing, but so far the story it tells (not the movie itself, but from the process of making it) is good so still giving it a 5/5.

That teacher is a really annoying person, hate him honestly. Satoshi is awesome! Didn't expect that really. When Shoko came and Shouya interacted with her, the teacher's reaction though... about him really becoming a good young man. I honestly think he was right about that at least.

This manga has made my eyes wet several times now. A lot of emotions, especially the backstory for Shoko's family.

I'm really loving this manga.

The teacher's mindset is not far from that of Shouko's father. When I read this manga, I often think about how Shouya's behavior was affected by the teacher's approval. We have a lost 12-year-old who is looking for entertainment and attention, this time he unfortunately decides to take it out on a disabled classmate and all he sees is a teacher who doesn't stand up for her... it's easy to imagine that in Shouya's eyes he wasn't doing anything too bad, if the teacher is not against it, then everything is fine.

But if only teacher didn't turn a blind eye to what was going on, didn't treat Shouko as a burden, scolded Shouya few times instead of laughing at his jokes, supported that other teacher who wanted to teach sign language... and later he even did the same with Shouya, he didn't care that they bullied him.

the real villains are grownups...
