Good manga, hmmm. For more SOL, I would say My Girl. Maybe NG Life too. Kaijuu no Kodomo. Definitely Ohayou, Ibarahime! For more shounen, but still very nice I would say Piano no Mori :D

I kind of really get where you're coming from, and also kind of don't.

I used to read a lot of books when I was younger, seems I'm too impatient or don't have the interest for that now. I love watching anime.
I've tried to get into manga many times but I keep stalling, which bothers me because as you said you can read it whenever (and also often you can get a full story unlike anime). I'm not sure why.
Whenever I read manga (especially of shows I already watched) I keep thinking it would be more entertaining to just watch the show, with animation and voice actors instead of just pictures. And when I compare it to just literature - my mind can go wild and paint it's own pictures of what is portrayed. In manga the pictures are already there.
I don't know, maybe manga is just not my medium but still I really want to get into it (sometime™).
