THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Dem training exercises. Idk why but as I was watching this, it almost looked like fun. Maybe it's because the mood or the music or something. At any rate, the episode was alright I guess. That kid is still getting on Eiichirou's nerves like last time lol.

Well he's making progress. I'll give him a clap too for hitting the tennis ball.

i like his unique hair haha.
Takuma seems good enough rival to me. Finally he's learning how to play tennis, i'm looking forward to next episode.
i like baby steps more than Prince of tennis because its more realistic.
well i know Baby steps is one of best sport manga out there, but anime wont be that way i guess... due to having only 25 episodes. Wish it continued like Diamond no Ace cuz it'll get more and more good later on.

edit: oh and i wish i could devote myself into something like that without being told by anyone.

I was enjoying the episode so much until I saw the ending.
I mean, I liked Takuma too and it is quite obvious that he'll be the main rival of Ei but still..
The ending was such a turn off. I mean, it totally spoiled my mood.

Even if this is true (Which I think and hope is), still. Damn damn damn. Feel like punching someone/something so hard right now.

The episode was nice and it showed how a dedicated person can strive to become better and better through practice.
I hope that it only looked like a kiss and it wasn't actually one...

Really loved this episode. And i also like how this anime makes me want to try play some kind of sport as well.. O_O - That's the power of sport anime and manga, i guess?

I wonder what's up with Ei-chans hair..? even though i read manga i think we never got any explanation xD it looks even weirder in anime. But it's ok, makes him 0.9% more special.

Loved the jelousy hints in this ep xD

I think it's gonna be a troll. Takuma does seem to like her but she doesn't seem to think of him that way at all. I doubt they're in a relationship and that didn't seem like a confession mood XD Lol'd at the jealousy he was having when she was teaching Ei XD

Ei's perfectionist character is so lol wanting to measure his elbow by a protractor XDXD

Well nice stuff. Liked it more than last ep. Should be fun seeing him get good :D

I hope that wasn't really a kiss. It can't be >__<

Takuma was evil! The aura of "Stop wasting our time, and back off from Takasaki."
I feel that Takuma treats her like a little sister.

I wonder how long does he take to write notes of that quality...

This episode was better than last week's and good enough that I will likely stick with it.

I'm probably reading too much into it but the grade school kid looks like a parody of Echizen from Prince of Tennis and there was a character named Arai in this episode, who is also a minor character in Prince of Tennis. Inside joke or me just seeing connections where there aren't any? Probably the latter.

Don't give up Ei-chan, dedicate yourself to tennis. It's the best thing you can do at the moment :)

On a side note, it seems like he will have same tennis style as my boy Sadaharu Inui.

I think Ei-chan learns a sport the way I do (except for the obsessive note taking). He nailed the description of being in the zone though, when something you do feels absolutely right.

Quite sure that's a troll kiss. Not that it matters to me though. I don't ship Ei-chanxNatsu.

I like seeing him develop and learning rules. Allows the viewer to understand the game. :D
Though not knowing anything about basic court stuff is a little weird to me, since you usually do play some tennis in PE class don't you?

Best scene was that brat at the tennis club though. "Real mature." Hahaha!

Pretty good episode. Don't understand some of the reactions to the kiss. After all, it's not like Natsu is going out with Ei-chan and it was pretty clear that Takuma was into her. Also, it may of just been a bad angle he saw it from. Though I would honestly prefer it being a real kiss.

Takuma (NAMIDAAAAAIII) reminds me of Fukutomi from YowaPeda, appearance-wise lololol
I like the pacing of this anime, just like in YowaPeda, the anime starts with teaching the basic to MC a.k.a teaching the audiences too (I learned a lot yeah thanks animu)
aww man I can't wait till the Junior Tournament arc (I think....? the event where ep1 started with)

and ah lololol when Eiichirou asked Kageyama to measure the angle of his elbow with a protractor ahahahaha

I really love how Ei-chan really determined in his practice, for 3 hours.. I don't even think I can do that even if I physically able but my mental of course will tire out..

Kageyama is a really cool buddy, sitting there accompany a friend who's doing nothing but practice for hours is a great feat..

Nah, I knew somewhat they not really kiss at the end..

Sports is not my genre but this and Haikyuu really made me want to rethink that..
I cannot bring myself to rate anime that I have completed below 5. Well, it just because I have use up my precious time to watch it. so, the worse you will get from me is 5 (changes may apply)

I want that kiss to be real. I would also like Ei-chan NOT to end up with tennis girl. For once I'd like main hero not to get first girl he falls for. I want to feel sorry for him, I want to cheer for him in other things.

I love how this show started, these 2 episodes have been real joy, I would just like something a bit different, something unexpected. I wanna sympatize for the guy, not cheer for perfect being he's about to become.

Oh well, can't have it all I guess. Gotta look somewhere else for that and just enjoy this show for what it is, a predictable but fun relaxation.

I know how that feels too Ei-chan, that first time you successfully return the ball over the net. It's a wonderful and addicting feeling :D Too bad I'm not as motivated as he is with tennis. Nor do I have an awesome friend named Kageyama (heh, two Kageyamas in sports anime this season) who would stay with me the whole freaking day just to watch me play tennis by myself.

Wow, about 5 minutes into this episode, and already it confirms why I watch every series that is released for at least two episodes (waiting until I had two in this instance).

You never know where a good show will come from. Love this so far, great hook in the first episode for a sports anime, even better than YP was, just hope that it keeps this feeling (unlike YP) with the MC.

I guess the kiss was actually fake. Anyway, I liked how they explained that he payed himself for the tennis stuff and not his parents, it's simple but I liked that they mentioned it.

Haha, I did the same connection with Sadaharu too. But instead in this case the data-gather guy is the MC. I think it's pretty original.

Whoa that ending. I have to say that I am enjoying this show.

Ei-chan is such a square: "measure the angle of my elbow" lol, oh man.

Takuma kind of reminds of Kuroko no Basket's Kagami. He's got the height the hair and the cocky attitude to match.

I'm going to be a big wierdo but I find that the sounds of tennis are so satisfying to listen to.

If I wasn't reading the manga already, that episode would have convinced me to pick it up. What a perfect cliffhanger. Can't wait for the contest and my favorite character in the next episode!

Edit: I also absolutely love the sound of Natchan's voice. I'd watch the show just for that if they somehow messed it up, honestly. Lucky for me, so far the show has been a great adaptation.

This might become my favorite of the season. It has such a good and simple feel to it. Really good mix of sol, sports and romance. Loving all of the characters as well. Opening fits perfectly and is already my most liked opening of the season. ^^

Going with fake kiss at the end as well btw.

I've played casually tennis with my friends in high school. When I got that perfect swing, man does it feel natural and good. Mostly it was just hitting the ball the way you do, but when you get your body rotation and all the other conditions right, you get that smooth hit and it feels pretty great!

Not a big sports anime fan but I'm enjoying the series so far.

omfg what was with that ending? did they kiss or what

Used to play club-level tennis to a pretty decent standard and this episode gives me a nostalgic feeling from when I was little and learning to play. But I didn't try to measure the angle of my elbow LOL! :D

One little nit-pick I have is how slightly unrealistic his first shot was. He admitted it was a fluke but still... the most important thing for a beginner to understand before they can get the ball on the sweet spot of the racket (that's when it feels really nice cause the vibrations through the racket are balanced), they have to learn to watch the ball. Seems like a pretty obvious thing but actually watching the ball is different to just looking in the direction of the ball. No one even mentioned to him about watching the ball, they just told him keep stance and swing. Well with that instruction most beginners would completely miss the ball first time. It annoys me that most people overlook this, and yet I've played countless beginners that keep missing the ball or hitting it out of the court as soon as I suggest keeping their eyes on the ball really carefully, they instantly improve by a lot. So when Ei-chan is practising against the wall he's hitting the ball quite hard and managing to get it back before it goes past him. Not realistic. That's just me nit-picking though. I'm sure he will work it out at some point.

Too much rambling gotta admit I did love this episode I just couldn't help noticing...
I wish the animation was better or if they are just saving up budget for proper matches later on.

4/5.
