| Hmm thread has had some funny moments :) I guess I have the advantage in many areas some of you of the younger persuasion simply can't relate to. For instance, you can't ask your cute son to stand next to the equally cute young girl in cosplay for a picture, if you lack the convenient cute son :) He makes it real easy to chat with young girls and not look like a creep :) Now being an older guy and just asking for the picture comes across looking so much different if the guy is alone. Confidence. It's amazing what a few decades can do for your confidence. I so have the edge in the 'been there, done that' category. Plus, most people my age can drop a few hundred bucks on a convention with no more than a bit of planning. I'm fairly used to teens complaining about finding 10 bucks. Eeeeeevery con I have gone to, I've been with two single buddies. And one of them has gone ooooon and on about 'what would you do man, if I brought a half drunk anime girl back to the room?' But fortunately he lacks my confidence, so I have no idea as of yet :) As I'm married, I don't actually see anime conventions as anything more than a visual spectacle and a chance to browse shitloads of anime merchandise. |
